(Clearwisdom.net) Editors' note: In both Western and Chinese cultures, the principle of karmic retribution, that is, being held ultimately accountable for one's own actions, is widely accepted. The fundamental teaching of Falun Gong is the characteristic of the universe, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. The universe will reward acts that are in harmony with this principle, while doing things such as beating, torturing and murdering people will incur karmic retribution. Stated another way, good deeds will be rewarded with good, while evildoings will meet due retribution. Articles such as this one are meant as a compassionate reminder of this principle to those who would commit wrongdoing. While many of those who persecute Falun Gong are merely "following orders," the universal law requires that they, too, be held responsible for their actions, and that only by reversing their course of wrongdoing may they escape retribution.

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) took the opportunity to oppress its citizens even more stringently than usual during the 2008 Olympics. Local communist officials in Dagudian Village, Mancheng County, Baoding City, Hebei Province, hired villagers and stationed them at village entrances to monitor Falun Gong practitioners and other local residents.

Despite being kindly asked not to do so by Falun Gong practitioners, five of these people stayed at the three major entrances to the village day in and day out, keeping an eye on practitioners. Each of them was paid 930 yuan for their job. A year has passed. Below we provide updates on these paid monitors.

Four of the five men, all in their 60s, have since contracted different terminal illnesses.

Yue Wenqi used to be healthy but was diagnosed with late-state lung cancer after the Olympics. The doctors decided it was not treatable and discharged him from the hospital.

Zhang Yue was diagnosed with stomach cancer. The hospital refused to accept him due to the severity of the illness. He is currently resting at home.

Chen Ziming has lung cancer and is currently undergoing chemotherapy.

Wei Wenyi had a stroke. He still cannot talk and has to use a cane to walk.

The fifth man, Zhang Biao, is only in his 30s. He and several family members were on their way to visit relatives during the 2009 Chinese New Year when they crashed into another car. He fractured three ribs. His family members were also injured to varying degrees.

These five people received retribution because they refused to listen to the truth and were greedy--for a mere 930 yuan they betrayed their conscience and helped to persecute innocent people. Considering the economic losses they have now incurred, how many more 930 yuan "rewards" will it take to make up for what they have lost? If they lose their lives, no monetary compensation will ever be enough to make up for the loss. How sad! I hope these tragedies will never be repeated.

Police Station Head Zhang Xueqin Died of Lung Cancer

Zhang Xueqin was head of the Xuyang Town Police Station in Rong County, Sichuan Province. He was involved in the persecution over the past several years. He was personally responsible for a middle-of-the night arrest, on June 1, 2005, of practitioners Zhu Ronggui, Zhou Zhiping, Xu Guohua, Luo Yuecheng, Wang Fuhua, Xia Siqiong, and Ding Quangen.

Falun Gong practitioners had advised Zhang numerous times to stop taking part in the persecution, but he didn't listen. He died from lung cancer in early July 2009.
