Ms. Zhai Qi'e

At the beginning of June 2008, Ms. Zhai Qi'e, a practitioner from Laizhou City, Shandong Province, was detained in Dianzi Brainwashing Center. The guards wanted to put handcuffs on her, but she refused to cooperate, so guard Liu Jingbing tortured her with the "big hang up" for several hours. This torture involves handcuffing the victim and then attaching the handcuffs to a chain hanging from the wall, leaving the victim hanging with her arms straight and her toes barely touching the ground. The victim is left this way for hours or even days on end, causing the handcuffs to cut into the flesh.

At night, guard Xiao Yuan handcuffed her to an iron bed. Later they no longer subjected her to the "big hang up" because she had heart disease and high blood pressure. Four days later, she was sent to a detention center. Later, Ms. Zhai was taken back to Dianzi Brainwashing Center for another nine days and then on to another detention center before being sentenced without due legal process.

Ms. Wu Xiuli

Dafa practitioner Ms. Wu Xiuli from Guojiadian Township, Laizhou City was arrested from home and taken to Dianzi Brainwashing Center on April 12, 2008. As soon as she arrived, she was beaten. Then they put her through the "big hang up" with her wrists tightly handcuffed. The handcuffs were her so tight that two months later, her thumb still hadn't regained any feeling. She was sent from the Dianzi Brainwashing Center to a detention center. They released her after 15 days. But the moment she left the detention center, a van approached her from behind and the people in the van told her that she needed to finish one more procedure. She was tricked into boarding the van and then taken her back to the detention center. She was later taken to a forced labor camp.

Ms. Guan Zemei Speaks Out in Court

Around October 10, 2008, during a court hearing, practitioner Ms. Guan Zemei was questioned by the judge about the source of her truth-clarifying materials. She replied, "You didn't allow me to sleep for three days and nights and beat me so badly that I have blood in my urine. I can't think clearly right now."

Mr. Pan Yujun Was Persecuted in Dianzi Brainwashing Center and a Detention Center

On August 8, 2008, at around 9 p.m., the National Security Team and Tushan Police Station in Laizhou City sent out several police cars to arrest Mr. Pan Yujun and Ms. Ren Yueqiao in Haicang Village, Tushan Town. They confiscated their TV, refrigerator, motorbike, and computer. At the notorious Dianzi Brainwashing Center, in order to force Mr. Pan to give up his belief, guards Wang Shusen, Shi Bintao, Yu Zhibin, Han Lijie, and Li Kecheng tortured him. He was given the "big hang up" for periods of time ranging from 23 to 26 hours. Pan Yujun went on a hunger strike to resist the persecution. In order to force him to give in, they use various types of torture devices and methods on him and injected him with unknown drugs.

In the detention center, Mr. Pan continued his hunger strike. The guards instigated criminal inmates to torment him. Once they instigated criminal inmate Wang Jingfu to persecute him under the pretext of asking him to eat. They shouted to the inmates, "Try any ploy to make him eat. Don't be scared. We will cremate the body if he is beaten to death. Don't we only have to compensate his family a few thousand yuan?"

Under such appalling conditions, Mr. Pan was still able to change other people with his compassion. One criminal inmate said, "Pan Yujin is so kind. In the face of such brutal torture, he still asked if I was cold. He wanted to give me his warm clothing. But he himself was lying on the bed after being tortured and stripped to the waist..."

Early January 2009, the guards secretly brought Mr. Pan to a court hearing at the detention center without notifying his family. The hearing fizzled out as Mr. Pan was too weak to testify. Since his arrest, his mother has tried several times to visit him, but she has never been allowed to see him.

At present, Pan Yujun is still being held in Laizhou Detention Center. He remains on a hunger strike to this day. He is very weak and weighs about 50kg.

Mr. Pan is around 40 years old. His mother is over 80, and his father passed away just before the new year, which Mr. Pan still doesn't know. Mr. Pan was previously arrested before the Olympic Games but managed to escape. He was arrested on August 8 for the second time. He was a builder before being arrested and was very healthy.
