(Clearwisdom.net) Sun Xinjuan, 16, is a student from Tancheng County, Linyi City of Shandong Province, and the daughter of Mr. Sun Dejian and Ms. Zhang Binglan. Sun Xinjuan took several copies of truth-clarifying materials from her mother and put them in her school - No. 6 Middle-high School of Tancheng County, during the summer exam period. She wanted to let her teachers and the classmates know the facts about Falun Gong, in hopes they would not be deceived by the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) lies. For this she was reported to the school principal, Li Peilai, and later someone reported her to the Tancheng 610 Office.
Ms. Sun Xinjuan was taken to Donglai Police Station on June 9, 2009. Under the interrogation, Sun Xinjuan admitted she took the fliers from her mother. Police from Tancheng Domestic Security Division and 610 Office then went to Maoci Village and arrested her parents Sun Dejian and Zhang Binglan (around 37 years old). They searched their home and confiscated some truth-clarifying materials. They also arrested Ms. Ma Guiju in the same village and searched the home of the couple Sun Changgui and Huang Guilan.
Ms. Ma Guiju's husband had been sick and in bed for a while. He was unable to speak and couldn't take care of himself at all. He was dependent on his wife's daily care. Agents from the 610 Office nonetheless took Ms. Ma Guiju away, even though her husband's life was in immediate danger after her arrest. Even with the doctor's statement that the patient needed to be cared for by his family, the police still detained Ms. Ma for about 40-50 days. Her husband's situation became worse and he passed away around the day of the Mid-Autumn Festival.
After enduring interrogation and threats by police from the county and the 610 Office, Sun Xinjuan was allowed to go home temporarily. However, around July 27, 2009, she was arrested at home and sent to Linyi City Brainwashing Center. This teenage girl was subjected to a month of brainwashing before being allowed to go home.
It is said that Sun Xinjuan was previously an excellent student at school and was well-liked by her classmates and teachers. But after suffering the brainwashing, and her parent's arrests and detention, her school performance was deeply affected. She was unable to pass the high school exam to continue her schooling, and she started work outside of her hometown to make a living.
Ms. Zhang Binglan started the hunger strike on the first day of her arrest. She has been detained at the county detention center for over four months under the commands from the county 610 Office. She is now facing a trial in the county court. Ms. Zhang also has a young son at home. Although her husband was released, he has not been able to find a job, and her family is in a difficult situation. We are calling on those with righteous conscience to help stop the persecution of Ms. Zhang's family.
