(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 34 cities or counties in 15 provinces. In this report, six Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 53 practitioners were illegally arrested.
1. [Dezhou City, Shandong Province] Mr. Ma Hongwei Tortured to the Verge of Death at a Detention Center
Agents from the Decheng District Police Department and from the Changzhuang Police Station arrested Mr. Ma Hongwei at home and took him to the Dezhou City Detention Center on September 21, 2009. The police ransacked his home and confiscated a computer, cash, a bank note worth hundred thousand yuan, and other personal belongings. Mr. Ma was subjected to gross abuse and mistreatment during his ten days of detention, and he ended up coughing blood and had blood in his stool and generalized edema, . He was sent to the Dezhou People's Hospital for emergency treatment. His relatives were called to take him home on October 7, 2009.
2. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Several Practitioners Arrested
Ms. Xu lives in the western district of Linjiang. While home at 4:30 a.m. on September 24, 2009, the police, pretending to check for a water leak, duped her husband into opening the door and then rushed in. They pushed Ms. Xu's husband on the sofa and arrested and took Ms. Xu to the Linjiang Police Station. The police confiscated a computer, books, and materials that explain Falun Gong and the persecution and about a thousand yuan. The police also took Ms. Xu's husband to the same police station but released him later.
Ms. Liu Ying lives in the Qingfeng Residential Area. Agents from the Dadong Police Station arrested her in September 2009.
Agents from the Rixin Police Station in the Chuanying District arrested Mr. Wu Longbo in September 2009.
Jilin City Police Department agents arrested another practitioner, in his 40s, from Jiaojiaohe on September 24, 2009.
3. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Mr. Xiong Hannian and Mr. Shi Sent to the Yangyuan Brainwashing Center
Mr. Xiong Hannian and Mr. Shi talked to a student about Falun Gong prior to October 1, 2009, near the Xudong Par Value Supermarket in Wuchang. The student reported them to the police. The two practitioners hve noe been transferred to the Yangyuan Brainwashing Center.
4. [Zhenyuan County, Gansu Province] Ms. Duan Xiaoyan Unable to Take Care of Herself As a Result of Persecution
Thirty-nine-year-old Ms. Duan Xiaoyan ran a tailor shop in Zhenyuan County before the onset of the persecution on July 20, 1999. Since then, she has been unlawfully held five times at the Zhenyuan County Detention Center. Detention center head Qin Dexi and others tortured her and then sent her to a forced labor camp for a year. While at the No. 1 Forced Labor Camp in Gansu Province, she was deprived of sleep around the clock for over two weeks. She held a persecution protest hunger strike, and her term was extended by three months.
Qinghai Province 610 Office agents arrested her on August 25, 2002, and sentenced her to seven years in prison. She had to do hard labor for more than 12 hours a day at the Qinghai Women's Prison. In addition, guard Ding Xiulan and others hung her up on a metal gate for eight days. She staged a hunger strike for 46 days beginning in February 2006, was verbally abused and shocked with electric batons, and also subjected to other gross abuse and mistreatment. Her face was injured from beatings, and the wounds oozed. She was unable to take care of herself. Her family asked for her release on medical parole, but the prison authorities turned them down. She returned home when her prison term expired on August 24, 2009. She still can't walk normally.

5. [Dazhou City, Sichuan Province] Mr. Gao Wei Unlawfully Detained
Mr. Gao Wei from Beiwai Town in the Tongchuan District was arrested at around 9:00 a.m. at work on October 12, 2009. Tongchuan District State Security Bureau agents and those from the 610 Office and the Beiwai Town Police Station participated in the arrest. He is held at the Tongchuan District Detention Center.
6. [Yingde City, Guangdong Province] Additional Information Regarding the Persecution of Two Practitioners
Mr. Li Zongbo, 38, and Ms. Duan Youru, 40, from Shakou Town were reported. Pingfeng Elementary School principal Hu Yuanqing did them when the practitioners distributed materials explaining Falun Dafa and the persecution at the school on January 9, 2008. Officers from the Shakou Town Police Station led by Huang Zhenpi arrested and took them to the police station. The police ransacked their home twice that same day when no one was home. The police confiscated a copier and several copies of the Minghui Weekly from Mr. Li Zongbo's home. They eventually transferred the two practitioners to Yingde City Detention Center, where they were held for over a year. Mr. Li and Ms. Duan were sentenced to four years and three and a half years in prison, respectively. They are now in the Shaoguan City Prison in Guangdong Province.

7. [Shanghai] Ms. Han Chunyan Arrested
Ms. Han Chunyan, in her 50s, lives on Zhengmin Road in the Yangpu District of Shanghai. Three officers from Jiangwan Town Police Station arrested her while she distributed materials explaining Falun Dafa and the persecution on September 15, 2009. She is held at the Shangahai Yangpu District Detention Center.
8. [Yizhou City, Shanxi Province] Ms. Zhao Gaiping and Ms. Li Yuejuan Arrested on October 11, 2009 and Held at the Yufu District Police Department
9. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Mr. Wang Xue, an Instructor at Northeast Danli University, Harassed
The police harassed Mr. Wang Xue at his home on September 15, 2009, and then university Party secretary Xu duped Mr. Wang's wife into going to the brainwashing center on the morning of September 21, 2009, and intimidated her into participating in the persecution of her husband.

12. [Fushun City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Zhang Zhiqin Arrested
More than a dozen agents from Xiaonanmen Police Station in Shenyang led by Wang Jiandong arrested Ms. Zhang Zhiqin from Nankouqian Town, Qingyuan County, on March 31, 2009. They beat her ruthlessly. She was transferred to the Gaolicun Detention Center in Shenyan City in the Yuhong District on April 2, 2009. Ms. Zhang was subjected to gross abuse for four months before she was sentenced to seven years in prison. She is now in the Liaoning Province Women's Prison.
13. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] Ms. Tian, Employed by the Standard Measurement Bureau on Keyuan Road in the Lixia District, Arrested around October 8, 2009
14. [Tianjin] Several Practitioners Arrested
Mr. Ning Jingpo, Ms. Gu Chengchun, Ms. Lian Guiying, Ms. Meng Fanxia, and Mr. Zhao Jinshan from Ji County were arrested and detained during the October 1 holidays.

15. [Huaihua City, Hunan Province] Mr. Zhou Chunsong Arrested at His Rented Residence
Six plainclothes police officers arrested Mr. Zhou Chunsong from his rented residence the afternoon of October 27, 2009. It has abeen learned that he is being held at the Huaihua No. 2 Detention Center.
16. [Loudi City, Hunan Province] Mr. Liang Kaiming Arrested and Put on Trial in the Louxing District on the Afternoon of October 3, 2009
17. [Baoding City, Hebei Province] The Persecution of Ms. He Xingliu
Forty-seven year-old Ms. He Xingliu from Chengwei Township, Boye County, wrote a letter to explain Falun Gong and the persecution in 2001. Agents from the Chengwei Township Police Station arrested her and extorted 6,000 yuan from her. This year, the police ransacked her home the evening of September 20, 2009. Ms. He was transferred to the Li County Police Station two days later, and then to the Shijiazhuang City Women's Forced Labor Camp.
18. [Dandong City, Liaoning Province] The Persecution of Ms. Wang Xiangju
Agents from the Hamatang Police Station arrested Ms. Wang Xiangju as she was on her way to market in March 2009. She was put on trial in the Yuanbao District on July 31. Her lawyer represented her in court, pleading not guilty, but no decision was handed down that day. Five to six days later, Ms. Wang's family was notified that she had been sentenced to four years in prison. Her family appealed the verdict, but the second trial was cancelled and the original verdict was upheld.
19. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] Mr. Wang Jianmin Arrested
Mr. Wang Jianming, an elderly practitioner, lives on Yingxiongshan Road in Jinan City. Local police arrested him around October 13, 2009.
20. [Dujiangyan City, Sichuan Province] Additional Information Regarding the Persecution of Mr. Lu Zhiyong
Mr. Lu Zhiyong is a forest police officer in Heishui County. He has been subjected to gross mistreatment since the persecution started in 1999 and was extremely weak as a result of regular abuse. Xinhua Forced Labor Camp officials in Mianyang City released him in February 2008. He lived in his mother's home in Dujiangyan City for a while. He went to visit his mother in Dujiangyan City on September 20, 2009. On his way home, Heishui County agents followed and arrested him in Xinjin County. They beat him into a coma on the spot. He only regained consciousness two days later. Heishui County Police Department agents informed his family that they needed to deliver something for him to eat and wear on September 24, 2009. Mr. Liu's injuries are still serious. He has not eaten or drunk water for over 20 days.
21. [Fuyang, Anhui Province] Mr. Tang Guolian Arrested
Mr. Tang Guolian is a 47-year-old villager from Tangwan Village, Hongheqiqo Town, Funan County, the Fuyang Area. When he placed informational materials about Falun Dafa and the persecution during the night of September 9, 2009, a police car blocked his motorcycle on the road. Four policemen got out of the car, pushed Mr. Tang inside, and took him away. His motorcycle was also taken away. The morning of October 10, agents from the county Anti-Riot Division and from the Yuji Police Station led by the Tangwan Village head searched Mr. Tang's home. They confiscated personal belongings and Falun Gong information materials.

Mr. Li Jie and Ms. Sun Yuqin from Lanqi Town, Fengcheng City, went to explain the persecution and Falun Dafa in Hemu Village, Hongqi Town on August 17, 2009. Agents from the Hongqi Police Station led by Ju Chunbo arrested them and took them to Baifang Detention Center in Dandong. They were transferred to Baifang Custody Center on August 28; their families are still forbidden to visit them.

27. [Shulan City, Jilin Province] Mr. Li Zhi Arrested
Kaiyuan Town Police Station head Yang Chun, other officers, and Liang Ziyu from the 610 Office broke the door lock on Mr. Li Zhi's home and rushed in. A few jumped through the windows into his home at 4:00 a.m. on September 7, 2009. They did not show any identification, nor were they in uniform. They arrested Mr. Li Zhi and took him to a detention center. Mr. Li's blind mother, in her 70s, was left at home. She has difficulty taking care of herself. Police station deputy head Shao Tianfeng and others returned to Mr. Li's home an hour later and ransacked it.

31. [Qingdao City, Shandong Province] Mr. Tian Yongjian's Hunger Strike Protests Illegal Verdict
Mr. Tian Yongjian was arrested in August 2009, but his family was not informed. His family searched for him for nearly two months and only found out recently that he was being held at the Jimo City Detention Center and has been sentenced to eight years in prison. His family was forbidden to visit him.
His family hired a lawyer for him. According to the lawyer, Mr. Tian is holding a hunger strike to protest the illegal verdict. He is extremely weak. When meeting with his lawyer, Mr. Tian was handcuffed behind his back. His family went to Jimo Court to ask to be told the verdict, but court officials refused to comply with their request.

Four agents from the Yushu City Public Security Bureau led by officer Shi Hailin went to Mr. Liu Fengming's home, attempting to arrest him at 7:00 p.m. on September 17, 2009. They did not succeed because Mr. Liu was not home. They did arrest him on October 9, 2009, on his way to work and took him to the Yushu City Detention Center.

Anle Elementary School teacher Ms. Guan Shuxue was arrested on her way home after work the afternoon of September 22, 2009. Qitaihe Police Department, the 610 Office, and local police station agents participated in the arrest.

Ms. Zou Huaxiang, in her 50s, went missing in front of the gate of Weihai City's Economics and Technological Development Zone Police Department at 10:00 a.m. on October 12, 2009. Her family searched for her everywhere and eventually learned that the police had detained her.

Ms. Huang was at the Wulian Detention Center, Mr. Liu was at the Ju County Detention Center, and Ms. Wang and Ms. Ding were at the Rizhao Detention Center. The four practitioners have been illegally kept in extended detention for six days.
