(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Xin Xiaoping is a farmer from Linli County, Changde, Hunan Province. She is in her late 30s. She had been working in Changsha and, on the afternoon of October 15, 2008, was arrested by the police.
Ms. Yang Dongxiu is a resident of Changde City, Hunan Province. She is in her 50s. On October 15, 2008, she was arrested along with Ms. Xin. They both work at the National Power Grid Company in Changsha.
The two women arrested simply because they practice Falun Gong. They are now incarcerated at the Changde Detention Center and Linli Detention Center respectively.
Ms. Yang Dongxiu's husband, Yang Guiming, was arrested on his way home from work a year ago and was charged with "illegal assembly." Mr. Yang was alone at the time of the arrest. He was not attending any assembly. Apparently Mr. Yang was arrested because he, too, practices Falun Gong.
More than two years ago, Ms. Xin Xiaoping was forced to leave her home and go into hiding to avoid further persecution by the local police in Changde. She had been separated from her family for two years. Lately, she took the risk of moving her husband and daughter to Changde to live with her. It had only been a few months since the family was reunited when she was arrested again and taken away from them.
