Mr. Yang Guang was arrested in November 2000. He was tortured and his health worsened. In 2006, Mr. Yang Guang was 100 percent paralyzed, had pleurisy and suffered multi-system organ failure, but the prison would not release him. Around August 8, 2008, while Mr. Yang Guang was dying, the prison administration took him to a hospital, but did not allow his family to see him. He died on August 25, 2008.

During the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, over ten Falun Gong practitioners from Panjin City, Liaoning Province were arrested by police in their homes, and Ms. Yang Jingfen lost her life.

A fourteen-year-old girl ask for the release of her mother Ms. Zhang Lipo, a Falun Gong practitioner who was arrested before the Olympic torch reached the city. The Police beat the girl. Her head was badly bruised, and she was dizzy long after the beating. The girl had been thrown out by her landlord, and had no money for tuition or room and board for the upcoming school year.

Ms. Peng Yan, Ms. Guo Guiping, Ms. Li Guirong, and Ms. Rong Chunling, all Falun Gong practitioners from Qian'an County, Jilin Province, have been sent to Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp in Changchun City.

Mr Zhang Qingyuan, a champion handicapped athelete, has been repeatedly imprisoned and tortured. Since 2006, Mr Zhang has been in hiding to avoid arrest and imprisonment and has been forced to move about despite his handicapped condition. As the Olympics approached, police came searching for him, harrassed his relatives, and detained his younger sister in August of 2008.

A retired medical scientist is imprisoned and his family harassed.

In late May 2008, two months before the Olympics, Mr. Liu Changde was sentenced to three years of forced labor. Previously his wife had been sentenced to three years of forced labor making it difficult for them to raise their family.

On August 14, 2008, CCP police seized Mr. Li at work. Since then his family has been unable to see him or to be certain of his condition and whereabouts. This is the latest in a series of arrests and persecutions.

Two senior women in their 70s and 60s were arrested and brainwashed by CCP authorities in Maoming City, Guangdong Province in the run up to the Olympics.
