"The things that Dafa disciples throughout the world have done are so stirring and inspiring, only they haven't been made into a film in this world. But there are films of you in the cosmos." ("Fa Teaching at the 2008 New York Conference")
Among the many Falun Gong practitioners who have been cultivating themselves diligently while exhibiting righteous thoughts and actions, I would like to tell about a special "Aunt" I know. (Note: In China, "Aunt" or "Auntie" is a respectful and affectionate way to address an older woman outside the family.) She is a simple and kind woman. She always forgives fellow practitioners and never argues with them. She always says, "It's my mistake. I will rectify myself." Although she is not good with words, she has impressed and touched me with her righteous thoughts and actions.
In the summer of 2006, her son got drunk and went home to ask for money. When she refused to give him the money, he called the police and told the police that his mother was a Falun Gong practitioner. Within minutes, a police car arrived at her apartment building. Several policemen headed up the stairs to her residence. Her son panicked at the sight of the police car. He hurried downstairs to stop the police. While he was negotiating with the police, she and her husband (a non-practitioner) quickly, yet calmly, packed her Falun Gong books and truth-clarification materials. Then she lowered the package downstairs with a rope. Next, she walked past the police very calmly. After she put the package away in a storage room, she went to the home of an uncle of mine (a fellow practitioner) and stayed overnight. The next day she told my uncle, "I must not accept the path arranged by the old forces. I must return home." She continued to do the three things Teacher asks of us.
After this incident, the police often showed up unexpectedly to harass her, but they never succeeded in their goals. She refused to cooperate. She either refused to open the door and stayed inside to send forth righteous thoughts, or she would explain to the police that every person will ultimately be rewarded for his good deeds and punished for his bad deeds. One day a policeman knocked on her door, but left when she refused to open the door. After a while, another man, who claimed to be a supervising police officer, knocked on her door. Seeing him as a person to be saved, she clarified the truth to him behind the closed door. Next the local authorities rented an apartment on the same floor in an attempt to keep her under surveillance. She started to send forth righteous thoughts often and saw her gong in rays of white light. The three watchers in the nearby apartment were frightened by the white light and slept with the lights on. One of them fractured his arm in an accident. The three hired watchers soon fled their post.
She has never skipped studying the Fa or practicing the Falun Gong exercises for a day. Sometimes she does the exercises twice a day. She studies the Fa more to enrich her mind. She has been actively coordinating Fa study groups. Every once in a while, she will organize a gathering for local practitioners to exchange cultivation insights. Every Sunday she travels far to pick up truth-clarification materials and then distributes them to every practitioner. She sleeps very little each night. Besides the four set times, she sends forth righteous thoughts at night for 60 minutes and often stays up until 2 or 3 a.m. sending forth righteous thoughts. Yet she still gets up at 4 a.m. to do the exercises. She says she does not feel tired after staying up. Instead, she feels filled with energy. She looks very healthy and energetic and has a rosy complexion.
For the past eight years, she has been distributing Falun Gong informational materials every evening, often with her toddler granddaughter, despite adverse weather conditions. One evening in June 2008, while she was explaining the facts to a woman, she saw a man standing nearby making a call on his cell phone. Soon afterwards, about ten men on bicycles approached her. Judging by their appearance, she knew they were policemen in plainclothes. She kept calm and thought, "I must not be interfered with. I beg Teacher to reinforce my righteous thoughts. I must save this predestined woman." She stayed put and made certain the woman understood the truth. After the woman agreed to quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its two affiliated student organizations and left, she turned around and faced the police. She looked at them solemnly while sending forth righteous thoughts. Before she even put her right hand in front of her chest, they could no longer bear to look her in the eyes. One by one, they got on their bicycles and fled. She thought, "No matter where you go, I must eradicate the evil elements manipulating you." She got on her bicycle as well and went after them. While the men were peddling hard, they turned to glance at her. She chased them into a narrow alley.
The men saw that it was a dead end, so they had to exit the alley. They saw a man moving cases of beer out of a car. To try to divert attention from themselves, they stopped and helped the man move the cases. She walked her bicycle over, looked straight at them, and said, "Do not do bad deeds for small gains. It is a heavenly law that every man will ultimately be rewarded for his good deeds and punished for his bad deeds. Only by doing good deeds will a man be rewarded." They dared not look at her, but they were apparently listening. Then she got on her bicycle and returned home.
She has had many experiences where she manifested her righteous thoughts and actions. She always seems to exhibit the compassion and magnificence in a life forged by the Fa. It is the Fa that erases our wrongdoings and bestows mighty virtue upon us.
Fellow practitioners, let's cherish this opportunity that comes only once in eternity. Like this Aunt, let's exhibit righteous thoughts and actions, disintegrate the evil beings, cultivate diligently, and walk well the final path in the Fa-rectification period. Let the things we do be recorded in the universe. Let our lives shine in the Fa!
