While the Olympic Torch arrived in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region on June 28, 2008, local Chinese Communist Party (CCP) authorities kept surveillance on, harassed, followed and arrested practitioners.
On July 2, 2008, the friends and family of Falun Gong practitioner Ma Duo, who had already been illegally sentenced to imprisonment, went to Jiamusi City Middle Court with their lawyer to appeal. However, the Domestic Security Team and the 610 Office have them arrested. They were not released unitl Ma's family were forced to pay 1,000 yuan and signing a fabricated documents.
On June 17, 2008, Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Meng Xianwu and Mr. Jiang Yuqing from Xingcheng were illegally arrested by Xijie police in Huludao, Liaoning Province. They were beaten, their homes were searched, and their property was confiscated. Meng Xianwu was sentenced to one year in a forced labor camp.
On July 4, the Chinese Communist city government operatives in Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province, harassed and illegally arrested many local Falun Gong practitioners.
On June 3, 2008, agents from the Domestic Security Team ordered the local police station to arrest three Falun Gong practitioners. As a result, two practitioners were sentenced to forced labor, and one was tortured until he became disfigured.

CCP officials and enlisted private citizens are going door-to-door to practitioner's homes, confiscating property, forcing people to sign various documents, and arresting and imprisoning others. Some families are extorted for money.
The network of brainwashing offices set up by the 610 offices exists outside the Chinese judicial system. It has its own rules, organization and goals, which are not allowed to be made public. These excerpts from leaked documents show the goal is to get practitioners to renounce their belief in Falun Gong, promise not to practice the exercises, and prove their conversion by denouncing Falun Gong publicly and helping to convert other practitioners.
Mr. Cao's case is one in which, after a person is arrested and their property confiscated, their families cannot even find out where they are imprisoned.
The notorious Masanjia Forced Labor Camp will risk the loss of a prisoner's life rather than risk exposure of their abuses to outside authorities.
To prepare for the Olympic Torch arrival on July 15, CCP authorities started massive arrests in May. Those who are arrested include dissenters, house losers, laid-off workers and Falun Gong practitioners.
On July 4, 2008, the local police stations in Shijiazhuang City arrested more than 20 Falun Gong practitioners, and also searched their houses.
In Suihua Forced Labor Camp, the police tortured Mr. Yang Xiaofeng with burning cigarettes, because he refused to write the statements to renounce Falun Gong. Mr. Qi Wenbin refused to sing the Chinese Communist Party songs, so the guards inserted under his fingernails with needles, and shocked his genitals and feet with electric batons.
