(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 23 cities or counties in 11 provinces. In this report 12 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention and at least 49 practitioners were illegally arrested.
1. [Benxi City, Liaoning Province] Eleven Practitioners Illegally Arrested
On April 24, 2008, local police officers from Huanren County and Benxi City, in collaboration with police officers from the Benxi City Police Department, arrested practitioners, ransacked their homes and confiscated quite a number of computers and some other items. Eleven practitioners were arrested, including Mr. Jiang Lei, Mr. Qi Zhenhong, Mr. Wang Dong, Mr. Xu Fa, Mr. Lao Dong and Mr. Lao Dazhang. They are held at the Huanren County Detention Center.
2. [Baoqing County, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Yao Shuzhen and Four Practitioners Detained
On January 25, 2008, Ms. Yao Shuzhen and 4 practitioners were reported while clarifying the truth about the persecution of Falun Gong. Staff from the Mudanjiang Land Reclamation and Farming Administrative Bureau illegally arrested and detained them at the Lianzhushan Township Detention Center, Mudanjiang Land Reclamation and Farming Administrative Bureau.
3. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Police Ransack Mr. Wang Haijiang's Home
On May 9, 2008, police from the Xiangfang District Police Department ordered police officers from Xingfu Police Station to ransack practitioner Mr. Wang Haijiang's home. Mr. Wang from Sunjiatun, Xiangfang District has become homeless to avoid being arrested.
4. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Zhang Xin Arrested and Her Husband Forced to Become Homeless
On May 6, 2008, four policemen forced their way into Ms. Zhang Xin's home. They confiscated one notebook computer and one printer before arresting Ms. Zhang. Her husband was forced to become homeless to avoid being arrested. Ms. Zhang was sentenced to one of year forced labor.
5. [Dongfeng County, Jilin Province] Ms. Wu Chunfeng and Several Practitioners Arrested
On May 17, 2008, policemen from Liaoyuan City, Jilin Province arrested Ms. Wu Chunfeng and several practitioners.
6. [Beijing City] Ms. Liu Guijin, Other Practitioners and Their Families Arrested
At around 10 p.m. on May 13, 2008, the National Security police arrested Ms. Liu Guijin, other practitioners and their families. Ms. Liu has become disabled as a result of inhuman torture by the police. Now she is being held at the Nihe Detention Center, Shunyi District, Beijing City.
7. [Beijing City] Mr. Bai Shaohua's Mother Missing After Visiting Him in Forced Labor Camp
Mr. Bai Shaohua who was secretly taken to Baimiao Forced Labor Camp in Zhengzhou City, Henan Province became very weak as a result of severe torture. On May 8, 2008, his mother came to visit him. She only saw him for a few minutes and then was thrown out of the forced labor camp. At night on May 13, after returning to Beijing, she and another practitioner who invited her to stay at his home were arrested and their whereabouts are unknown.
8. [Beijing City] Ms. Chen Manxin Arrested
Ms. Chen Manxin, over 40 years old, from Badaling Township, Yanqing County, Beijing City was illegally arrested on May 14, 2008.

10. [Shanghai City] Mr. Liu Shunmin Illegally Detained
Mr. Liu Shunmin from Minhang District, Shanghai is now being held at the Qingpu Brainwashing Center.
11. [Pingdu City, Shandong Province] Mr. Wang Cong Arrested
Police officers arrested Mr. Wang Cong at his home on May 8, 2008. He is being held at the Qingdao Detention Center.
12. [Zhangqiu City, Shandong Province] Latest News about Ms. Zhang Mingfang
Veteran practitioner Ms. Zhang Mingfang from Zhangqiu City was released on the morning of May 13, 2008. Mr. Li Jian is still being held at the Zhangqiu Detention Center.
13. [Penglai City, Shandong Province] Several Practitioners Arrested
On May 15, 2008, Ms. Xiu Yanpeng, Ms. Nie Lihua, Ms. Zhang Yujie, Mr. Wu Zhiyuan, Ms. Ji Qiaoling and her husband Mr. Han were arrested at the same time. Nie Lihua's family computer was confiscated. Now Ms. Nie is being held at the Penglai Detention Center. The whereabouts of the other practitioners is still unknown.
14. [Cangzhou City, Hebei Province] Ms. An Xiaohua Arrested
In the afternoon of May 16, 2008, Ms. An Xiaohua from Cangzhou City was arrested when going to the Xinhua Police Sub-department, Cangzhou City Police Department to deliver a letter appealing against the persecution of Falun Gong. She is being held at the Cangzhou City Detention Center.
15. [Quyang City, Hebei Province] Ms. Zhuan Junru Tortured
On May 16, 2008, Ms. Zhuan Junru from Quyang City became ill because of torture suffered during her detention. She was taken to the Renji Hospital in Quyang for treatment.
16. [Zunhua City, Hebei Province] Ms. Hao Xiuling Arrested
On the evening of February 6, 2008, Ms. Hao Xiuling and Ms. Tian Xiufang were arrested while distributing truth-clarification materials about the persecution of Falun Gong at a roadside. They were detained at the Zunhua City Detention Center. On April 8, 2008 Ms. Tian Xiufang was released on bail after the police had extorted tens of thousands of yuan from her family. On April 9, Ms. Hao Xiuling was sentenced to one year of forced labor and transferred to Kaiping Forced Labor Camp in Tangshan City, Hebei Province.
17. [Luohe City, Henan Province] Ms. Zhang Guizhi Arrested
At 4:30 p.m. on May 15, 2008, policemen from the Luohe City 610 Office, the National Security Division of Luohe City Police Station and the National Security Division forced their way into Ms. Zhang Guizhi's home. They arrested her and 4 practitioners who were at her home at the time, including Ms. Fang Huiying, Ms. Chen Junlian and Ms. Jing Ximei. They also confiscated Ms. Zhang's family computer and some personal belongings. They are illegally detained at the Yancheng District Detention Center, Luohe City.
18. [Guangzong County, Hebei Province] Ms. Wang Aifang and Ms. Feng Yuxiang Arrested
Since May 2008, staff from the Guangzong County 610 Office and local police arrested practitioners and ransacked their homes in the name of protecting the security of the Beijing Olympics. On the afternoon of May 14, 2008, staff from the County National Security Division, in collaboration with policemen from Hetaoyuan Township Police Station, broke into Ms. Wang Aifang and Ms. Feng Yuxiang's homes and confiscated Falun Dafa books and materials. Then they arrested the two practitioners. The two are detained at the county detention center.

19. [Ganyu County, Jiangsu Province] Mr. Song Shirong Arrested
On May 13, 2008, police from the township police station arrested Mr. Song Shirong of Qingkou Township, Lianyungang City. The police did not let him sleep for 5 days.
20. [Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province] Ms. Dong Jie Arrested
On May 14, Ms. Dong Jie was arrested by policemen from the local Laoyunying Police Station. She is being illegally detained at the police station.

21. [Chuzhou City, Anhui Province] Mr. Zhou Kaimin Arrested
On the evening of April 23, 2008, Mr. Zhou Kaimin in Chuzhou City was arrested when clarifying the truth about the persecution of Falun Gong at Shuikou Township, Lai'an County. He was detained at the County Detention Center.

22. [Guangshan City, Henan Province] Mr. Wang Xincheng Arrested
In the early morning on May 15, 2008, special agents from the Guangshan City National Security broke into Mr. Wang Xincheng's home and arrested him. They ransacked his home. Mr. Wang's wife Ms. Ruan was arrested last year and only released after being severely tortured. She has been forced to become homeless to avoid being arrested. Their teenage son was left alone at home.
23. [Shangqiu City, Henan Province] Ms. Pang Yan, Ms. Chen Chunyan and Ms. He Yinghua Arrested
On May 15, 2008, Ms. Pang Yan and Ms. Chen Chunyan were transferred from Shangqiu Detention Center to Shibalihe Women's Forced Labor Camp in Zhengzhou City. Ms. Chen Chunyan was sentenced to 1 year of forced labor and Ms. Pang to one and a half years. Ms. He Yinghua was taken back to Shandong Province and sentenced to 3 years of forced labor camp.
24. [Baoji City, Shaanxi Province] Ms. Wang Jiangmei Arrested
On April 21, 2008, eight or nine policemen and laborers forced their way into Ms. Wang Jiangmei's residence and confiscated two laser printers, one burner, one laptop computer, some Falun Dafa books and truth-clarification materials. At around 11 a.m., Ms. Wang was arrested and detained at the Criminal Division, Jintai Police Sub-department, Baojin City. Now Ms.Wang is being held at Huatai Guest House, which is now a detention center.

25. [Jiujiang County, Jiangxi Province] Ms. Gui Pohua and Five Other Practitioners Arrested
On the evening of May 7, 2008, Mei Jinhua from Saichenghu Police Station, Jiujiang County, Cai Meng and 4 other policemen broke into Ms. Gui's home and arrested Mr. Wang Shifan, Mr. Lu Zhenxiang, Ms. Wang Yuelan, Mr. Huang Jiafa, Mr. Zhong Xiangwei and Ms. Wang Yi (74 years old) who were studying Falun Gong books at Ms, Gui's home. The 7 practitioners were taken to the Saichenghu Police Station. Ms. Wang Yi was released in the morning and the other practitioners were taken to the Jiujiang County Detention Center.

26. [Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Feng Li Illegally Sentenced
At around 8 a.m. on May 14, 2008, Ms. Feng Li from Qidaoqianzi Village, Longcheng District, Chaoyang City was illegally tried and sentenced to a 7-year prison term.
