Around May 16, 2008, Mr. Xie Liangchao, who works at the Weihe Electric Factory in Xianyang City, was taken to the Taerpo Drug Rehabilitation Center in Xianyang City. He has been on a hunger strike protesting the unlawful custody. His family has been denied visits.

3. [Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province] Police Search Several Practitioners' Homes and Take Them into Custody

On the evening of May 16, 2008, about ten practitioners in Yi Village in Wanbailin District, Taiyuan City were taken into custody by officers from the Wangbailin Police Department and the Qianfeng Police Station. The police also took computers and other materials from the practitioners' homes.

On the afternoon of May 19, 2008, Ms. Zhang Xiucun, 38, was taken from her home. The police also confiscated Falun Dafa books and several issues of weekly publications.

Ms. Zhang Xiucun was previously unlawfully sentenced to two years of forced labor. In 2006, she was again taken into custody for an attempt to rescue other practitioners. She was released after staging a hunger strike. Upon returning home, Ms. Zhang has been harassed by the local residential police officers. The village officials have had the electricity shut off to her home.

Ms. Peng Xiuqing, in her sixties, lives at No. 19 Building 20, Laoshanxi Lane in the Shijingshan area, Beijing. She is a retiree from the Capital Steel Company. Local residential police officers took her from her home on May 20, 2008.

Ms. Zhang Yuping, a practitioner who lives in Nanshan District, Shenzhen City, managed to get out of a police facility in Nanshan District on March 25, 2008. On May 1, Ms. Zhang and her niece, Ms. Zhang Qun, were turned in to the police while clarifying the truth. Officers in Nanshan District took them to the detention facility in Nanshan District.

On May 19, 2008, Ms. Shen Yuehong, a practitioner in Huangchuan County who is in her thirties, and her two-year-old daughter were taken into custody by officers from the Xuchang Police Department. Her husband Mr. Yang Jianjun was unlawfully taken into police custody at the beginning of 2007. Mr. Yang has been sentenced to eighteen months of forced labor. He is being held at the Xuchang No. 3 Forced Labor Camp.

11. [Laizhou City, Shandong Province] Ms. Guan Jinmei Taken into Custody

On the afternoon of May 20, 2008, Ms.Guan Jinmei was taken to the Dianzi Brainwashing Center in Laizhou City by officers from the Laizhou City 610 Office, the Domestic Security Division, and the Crime Response Division.

12. [Anqiu City, Shandong Province] Six Practitioners Taken into Police Custody

At 11:00 a.m. on May 12, 2008, Mr. Ding Muzhao, 65 years old, Ms. Yin Mingxia, 50 years old, Ms. Wang Haiqing, 45 years old, Ms. Lin Shuzhen, 40 years old, and two other practitioners were taken into custody. One other female practitioner managed to escape. The six practitioners are being held at the Anqiu City Detention Center where they are being tortured.

13. [Shulan City, Jilin Province] Ms. Li Wenhua and Ms. Du Guiru Taken to Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp

Ms. Li Wenhua and Ms. Du Guiru, who live in Dade Township, Shulan City, were taken into custody in April 2008. Despite the practitioners having severe illnesses, they have been taken to the Heizuizi Women's Forced labor Camp in Changchun City.

14. [Mengyin County, Shandong Province] Mr. Xu Zhidong and His Wife Taken to Detention Centers

Mr. Xu Zhidong and his wife live in Beimozhuang Village, Jiuzhai Township, Mengyin County. In April 2008, agents from the 610 Office searched their homes and they were taken into custody. Mr. Xu is being held at the Mengyin County Detention Center and Ms. Li is being held at the Yinan County Detention Center. The practitioners' family members have been denied visits.

15. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Chen Xiaohua and Mr. Yuan Jinrong Taken into Police Custody

On the afternoon of May 19, 2008, Ms. Chen Xiaohua and Mr. Yuan Jinrong in Gaowang Village on Zhangbei Road in the Wuchang area of Wuhan City were each separately taken into custody by the Shuiguohu No. 2 Police Station. The police also beat Mr. Yuan's niece and his elderly mother. Both his niece and his mother who is in her seventies, had bloody faces as a result of being beaten. The whereabouts of Ms. Chen and Mr. Yuan are unknown.

16. [Huizhou City, Guangdong Province] Several Practitioners Taken into Police Custody

Since January 2008, the police in Huizhou City escalated their persecution of Falun Gong practitioners using the Olympic torch relay as an excuse. On January 1, Mr. Cao Jianshan, a high school mathematics teacher at the Huiyang High School was taken into custody. In March, Ms. Chen Juan, a music teacher at the Huizhou No. 5 Middle School was taken into custody. Ms. Liu Youlian was also taken into custody while she was distributing truth-clarification materials. The police searched the three practitioners' homes. On the evening of April 26, Mr. Li Xiaoqiang and Ms. Li Xiaomin were taken to the Qiaoxi Police Station by the police. Their home was unlawfully searched.

17. [Pingquan County, Hebei Province] Ms. Li Fengyun and Ms. Fan Guijie Taken into Custody

At around 10:00 p.m. on April 14, 2008, Ms. Li Fengyun was turned in to the police while she was clarifying the truth. Li Baoquan, head of the Domestic Security Division of the Pingquan County Police Department, and other officers took her into custody. The police also took her electric bicycle. Her home was searched the following day and Falun Dafa books were confiscated. Ms. Li Fengyun is being held in the Pingquan County Detention Center.

At around 8:00 a.m. on May 15, 2008, Ms. Fan Guijie, a practitioner who lives in Qijiadai Township in Pingquan County, was beaten and taken into custody by Wang Xiaofeng (female) and other officers from the Domestic Security Division. The police searched her home. Ms. Fan is being held at the Pingquan County Detention Center.

18. [Wangdu County, Hebei Province] Ms. Liu Zhanru and Mr. Yuan Zhixue Taken into Custody

On May 16, 2008, a dozen police officers, most of whom are from the Gudian Township Police Station in Wangdu County, broke into the homes of Mr. Yang Yongli, Ms. Liu Zhanru and Mr. Yuan Zhixue in Ershilipu Village. The police took Ms. Liu and Mr. Yuan into custody. The two practitioners are being held at the Wangdu County Detention Center.

19. [Panjin City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Wang Guojun and Other Practitioners Taken to Detention Center

On the evening of May 20, 2008, Mr. Wang Guojun, a practitioner taken by police from Xinxing Town in Dawa County, Panjin City, was transferred to the Dawa County Detention Center. Visits from his family were not allowed. The police also took both of Mr. Wang's cellular phones. Ms. Wang Guohui and Ms. Wang Guoyan have also been taken to the Dawa County Detention Center.

20. [Qing'an County, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Liu Shurong Sentenced to One Year of Forced Labor

On March 10, 2008, Ms. Liu Shurong was taken into custody by the Qing'an County Domestic Security Division for the second time. At 4:00 a.m. on April 22, she was taken to the Qiqihar Forced Labor and is serving a one-year term.

21. [Shandong Province] Ms. Chen Jianmei and Her Mother Ms. Zhang Hongying Taken into Custody

On May 20, 2008, Ms. Chen Jianmei, a practitioner at the Qilu Petro-Chemical Company, and her mother Ms. Zhang Hongying were taken into custody by officers from the East District Police Department affiliated with the Qidu Police Department. The officers also searched their home, took a computer, DVDs, and other materials. Ms. Chen was taken to the Zhangdian Detention Center on the same day. Her mother was released on parole.

22. [Leshan City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Li Shuhua Taken into Custody

Ms. Li Shuhua, a practitioner in Guanying Town, Wutongqiao District, Leshan City, was turned in to the police while she was clarifying the truth on March 9, 2008. Officers in Caijin Town took her to the Wuliqiao Detention Center. Her current situation is unknown.

23. [Rongcheng City, Shandong Province] Ms. Wang Fengli's Home Searched by Police

On the morning of May 20, 2008, several practitioners in Kunming City were taken into custody. It has been confirmed that Ms. Jiang Ruiling, 27 years old, Ms. Yang Huilan, 68 years old, Mr. Xu Wei and his wife Ms. Chen Yanyan were taken into custody at their homes. The police also took computers, printers and other personal items.

25. [Honghu City, Hubei Province] Ms. Yuan Pinglan and Ms. Wu Qinyu Unlawfully Held in Custody

On the evening of May 14, 2008, Ms. Yuan Pinglan and Ms. Wu Qinyu were distributing truth-clarification materials in the countryside near Fengkou Town, when they were turned in to the police. Officers from a local police station took them into custody. The two practitioners are being held at the Honghu No. 1 Detention Center.

26. [Yongnian County, Hebei Province] Seven Practitioners Held at Yongnian County and Forced to Do Hard Labor

On May 10, 2008, Chen Jushan (male), head of the Yongnian County Domestic Security Division, Yan Chunyu (gender unknown), director of the Tiexi Police Station, and other officers arrived at Ms. Yang Yuxiu's home. Ms. Yang was not at home, and her husband, Mr. Yang Yumin (who is not a practitioner), was forcibly taken by the police to the county detention center. The officers then arrived at practitioner Mr. Gao Zhifu's home to harass him.

Seven practitioners are currently being held at the Yongnian County Detention Center. Regardless of gender, all the practitioners have been forced to work over sixteen hours a day. They have also been forced to pay 17 yuan for a meal when working at night.

27. [Penglai City, Shandong Province] Ms. Sun Yuhua and Several Other Practitioners Taken into Custody

On May 20, 2008, the police took into custody Ms. Sun Yuhua in the Xizhenglijia area in Beigou Town, Penglai City. So far three practitioners in Beigou Town have been taken into custody and their homes unlawfully searched.

A few days ago, Mr. Zhang Xingzhou and his wife Ms. Luan were taken to the Penglai City Detention Center.

28. [Shandong Province] Ms. Huang Yuping Taken into Custody; Her Home Searched

Ms. Huang Yuping, in her forties, was a former employee of the No. 7 Branch Company of the No. 1 Petroleum Construction Company in Shengli Oil Fields, Shandong Province. She was laid off and received a lump sum payment which was based on her years of service. On May 21, 2008, Ms. Huang was turned in to the police for distributing truth-clarification materials at the Dudian Farm Market in Binzhou City. She was arrested and her home was ransacked by officers from the Dudian Development Zone Police Station in Binzhou City.

29. [Beijing] Ms. Zhang Yan Taken into Custody

Ms. Zhang Yan, 47, lives in the Hunan Residential Community in the Nancaiyuan area in Yanqing County, Beijing. On the morning of May 20, 2008, the police took Ms. Zhang into custody and searched her home. The officers took a paper cutter and a multifunction fax, copy, print machine.

30. [Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province] Several Practitioners Taken into Custody by Baixia District 610 Office

Recently, Ms. Jin Yuelan and several other practitioners were taken into custody by the Baixia District 610 Office. At the end of April 2008, Ms. Jin Yuelan, in her forties, was taken into custody. She lives in the Mochou Residential Community. Also taken into custody at the end of April 2008, was Ms. Tian Qin, in her sixties, a retired accountant of the Nanjing Aerospace Institute. Ms. Liu Yuhua, in her forties, lives in Baixia District, and practitioners with last names Bai and Gong were also taken into custody by the Baixia District 610 Office.

31. [Siping City, Jilin Province] Mr. Luan Dewu and Ms. Geng Wanying Taken into Custody

At around 2:00 p.m. on April 26, 2008, Mr. Lu Dewu and Ms. Geng Wanying were taken into custody from their rented house by officers of the Siping City State Security Department. The police confiscated a computer, a printer and Falun Dafa books. The officers did not find any cash and took rice and flour instead. The two practitioners were tortured during interrogation. They are being held at the Gongzhuling Detention Center.

At around 7:00 a.m. on May 20, 2008, officers from the Zhenxing Police Station in Xinglongtai District, Panjin City pried open the door of Mr. Zhang Lianke's home. The officers took Mr. Zhang into custody and searched his home.

At 8:00 a.m. on May 20, officers from the Xinglong Police Station in Xinglongtai District took Ms. Jia Baoqi into custody at the entrance of her home. The officers took her key and searched her home. Ms. Jia was then taken to the Xinglong Police Station.

At around 7:00 a.m. on May 20, 2008, Mr. Wang Guoquan, Mr. Wang Guojun, Ms. Tan Lianying, and Mr. Wang Haisheng in Panjin City were taken into police custody.

Thirteen practitioners have been unlawfully held at the lodge of the No. 792 Factory in Chencan District, Baoji City. All of the practitioners are in extremely poor physical condition as a result of abusive treatment. They have no contact with the outside world.

36. [Baoji City, Shaanxi Province] Situation of Several Practitioners in Police Custody

On April 14, 2008, a dozen police officers broke into Ms. Chai Xiufang's home to take her into custody. On April 20, Ms. Qin Lijie who works at the Petroleum Machinery Factory in Baoji City, and her mother-in-law, and Ms. Qin Lihua, were taken into custody. A production site of Falun Gong truth-clarification materials was sabotaged. On April 21, Ms. Wang Jiangmei, an employee of the Northwestern Food Storage, was taken into custody. Another Dafa materials production site was sabotaged.

Earlier, Ms. Song Xianlan, employed at the Railroad Maintenance Factory in Baoji City, and Mr. Duan Baojun, a villager at Gaojia Village, were taken into police custody.

37. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] A Falun Gong Materials Production Site Sabotaged in Anqiu City

On the afternoon of May 12, 2008, police sabotaged a Falun Gong materials production site in Anqiu City. Four people were unlawfully arrested. The police also took computers, a multifunction copying machine, supplies, and various truth-clarification materials, along with other items.

39. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Members of 610 Office Break into Mr. Wang Jishan's Home to Take Him into Custody

On the evening of May 6, 2008, officers from the Kuiju Street Police Station in Changyi City under the jurisdiction of Weifang City and members of the city's 610 Office broke into Mr. Wang Jishan's home. Mr. Wang works in a kindergarten. The officers took two computers, a printer, a television set and other items. Mr. Wang was taken to a detention center the same evening.

40. [Zhangzhou City, Fujian Province] Mr. He Peisheng Transferred to the Zhangzhou City No. 1 Detention Center

Mr. He Peisheng, who lives in the Hongqi Residential Community in Xiangcheng District, Zhangzhou City, was taken to the Domestic Security Department by state security officers. On May 19, he was transferred to the Zhangzhou City No. 1 Detention Center.

41. [Chongqing] Elderly Ms. Su Zebi Taken into Custody

Ms. Su Zebi, 70, lives in the No. 2 Jianbei Residential Community in Jiangbei District, Chongqing. At around 10:00 a.m. on May 19, 2008, plainclothes officers from the Domestic Security Branch Unit in the Jiangbei Police Department broke into her home. The officers unlawfully searched her home and took her into custody. Ms. Su's whereabouts have remained unknown.

43. [Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province] Ms. Huang Xiuying and Three Other Practitioners Taken into Custody

The police department affiliated with the Administrator of the Lushan Mountain Scenic Area in Jiujiang City took four practitioners into custody. They are Ms. Yang Yinping, on April 8, Ms. Wang Chunmei, on April 10, Ms. Huang Xiuying, on April 24, and Ms. Zhang Linhong.

In March 2001, the four practitioners were taken to the Jiujiang City Brainwashing Center. Each of them was subsequently sentenced to three years of forced labor. Ms. Wang Chunmei was on the verge of death after being held at the Jiujiang City Forced Labor Camp for nearly four months. She was released on medical parole. In July 2003, Ms. Wang was arrested a second time for displaying Falun Gong banners. She was taken to the same labor camp and was not released until 2006.

44. [Hengyang City, Hunan Province] Ms. Gui Youyun Taken into Custody

At around 11:40 a.m. on May 19, 2008, four police officers from the Miaopu Police Station in Zhuhui District, Hengyang City arrived at the home of Ms. Gui Youyun's youngest daughter in Beiji District, Hengyang City. The officers climbed over a wall, searched the place, and took Ms. Gui Youyun into custody. Ms. Gui has been sent to the Hengyang City No. 2 Detention Center. As her youngest daughter was attempting to stop the officers from taking the mother away, she was threatened by the police.

45. [Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province] Four Practitioners Taken into Police Custody

Ms. Li Yan, who works at the Technology Section of the Taiyuan City Gas Company, Mr. Zhang Jingsheng, Ms. Wei Xiufen, who works at the Taiyuan City Institute of Technology, and another practitioner were taken into custody by officers from the Chengguan Police Station around May 16, 2008.

46. [Tonghua County, Jilin Province] Additional Information on the Death of Ms. Wang Yonghua's Husband

At around 7:30 p.m. on April 23, 2008, police officers in Tonghua County forced their way into Ms. Wang Yonghua's home. They took Ms. Wang, who is in her sixties, into custody. The officers then came back twice to search her home. Her husband Mr. Zhu Wenming, also in his sixties, was frightened by the police violence. Mr. Zhu also suffered from heart disease, and died after being rushed to the hospital. On May 16, Ms. Wang Yonghua was released pending further investigation.

47. [Maoming City, Guangdong Province] 610 Office Persecutes Practitioners Using Olympics as an Excuse

The 610 Office of the Maogang District Political and Judiciary Committee in Maoming City used the upcoming Olympic Games as an excuse to take Mr. Chang Binggang, Mr. Lai Liang, and Ms. He Yanhua to a "legal school" (brainwashing center) affiliated with the Hexi Police Division in Maoming City.

On May 16, 2008, Ms. Liu Ying, a practitioner in Haidian District, was taken into custody at Ms. Li Li's home near the Asian Games Residential Community. Ms. Liu is being held at the Chaoyang Detention Center.

On the morning of May 17, 2008, Ms. Sun Xiuyun, who lives at Daanlezhuang Village in Fengrun Town, Fengrun District, Tangshan City, was distributing truth-clarification materials at a farm market. Plainclothes police officers took her into custody. Her home was searched the same afternoon. Ms. Sun's whereabouts are unknown.

56. [Yakeshi City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region] Mr. Su Shi Faces Forced Labor

Mr. Su Shi was formerly an inspection technician of at the Yimin Coal and Electricity Generation Company. In 2000, he was unlawfully sentenced to three years of forced labor for distributing truth-clarification materials.

In mid-May 2008, Mr. Su was taken into custody while clarifying the truth on a bus. He is being held at the Yakeshi Detention Center and faces a forced labor term. Mr. Su Shi is on a hunger strike protesting the persecution. His wife does not have a job and their child is on the verge of being forced to drop out of school.

On May 15, 2008, Ms. Ge Ping was taken into custody without cause by the police. On the same day, her husband and their daughter, who is several months pregnant, were placed in custody.

In late April 2008, Ms. Yang Ruiying and another practitioner went to Yangfan Village in Xingtai City to clarify the truth. They were taken into custody by the police at the Yangfan Police Station and held there. It is not clear whether the two practitioners have been transferred to other facilities.

Mr. Cai Zidong was held in custody for an extended period of time. He returned home on January 30, 2008. He has recently been taken to a brainwashing center.

After July 20, 1999, Mr. Cai Zidong was unlawfully arrested several times. On October 12, 2007 his seven-year prison term was to end. On October 9, his parents traveled several hundred miles to the Fanjiatai Prison to pick him up. On October 12 around at 6:00 a.m., they were waiting outside the prison. However, members of the Shiyan City 610 Office had taken Mr. Cai to the Hubei Provincial Brainwashing Center on October 11. Mr. Cai remained at the brainwashing center until he was released just before the lunar New Year's Day (February 7, 2008).
