1. [Beijing] Mr. Wu Shiming Unlawfully Sentenced to Prison

Mr. Wu Shiming, a practitioner in his 40s, lives in the Qinghexiaoying area in Beijing. On the morning of February 28, he left home and never returned. A few weeks later, his family learned that he was illegally arrested and sentenced to prison within a month.

On the afternoon of May 12, Ms. Ma, a practitioner in her 50s, was taken into custody by officers in Heping District in the Jiangnanchuncheng Residential Community on Xinggongbei Street in Tiexi District, Shenyang City.

6. [Linzhang County, Hebei Province] Mr. Li Huaiyi Taken into Custody; His Home Searched

At 10:00 a.m. on May 7, 2008, Chen Jushan, head of the Political Security Group, led by Zhao Juntao, director of the Qumo Township Police Station, arrived at Mr. Li Huaiyi's home in Dongjiuzhai Village. The officers took the satellite antenna, two Falun Dafa books, four copies of a weekly publication, some truth clarification DVDs, a DVD player, and 200 yuan in cash. The officers took Mr. Li and his son (who is not a practitioner) to the police station. Later, Mr. Li was transferred to the detention center. His son was released.

7. [Zhucheng City, Shandong Province] Mr. Ge Hongluan Taken into Custody by Shunwang Street Police Station

On the morning of May 11, 2008, officers from the Shunwang Street Police Station in Zhucheng City broke into Mr. Ge Hongluan's home in Hujialou Village. Mr. Ge was not in, so the officers took his wife into custody. The officers then staked out his home and took Mr. Ge into custody when he returned home on the evening of May 13, 2008.

8. [Duolun County, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region] Mr. Ba Lixiang Taken into Police Custody

At around 8:00 p.m. on May 8, 2008, Mr. Ba Lixiang, in his 60s, was taken into custody by the police in Weichang County, Hebei Province.

9. [Suizhong County, Liaoning Province] Ms. Zhou Yingchun and Ms. Yang Zhaoying Paralyzed as a Result of Torture

On May 12 and May 13, 2008, the Suizhong County Court sentenced practitioners who were arrested on February 25 to from seven to 10 years. Among them, Ms. Zhou Yingchun and Ms. Yang Zhaoying became paralyzed as a result of police brutality. They are being held in Suizhong Hospital. Two guards from the Suizhong Detention Center and two jobless women hired by the detention center have been assigned to keep an eye on the two practitioners.

10. [Yongji County, Jilin Province] Three More Practitioners Taken into Custody; Their Homes Searched

On the morning of May 13, 2008, half a dozen police officers climbed a ladder to break a window in Ms. Fei Dongmei's home. They searched her home and took her into custody. Ms. Fei is being held in Xishan Detention Center in Yongji County. At 5:00 p.m. the same afternoon, the police searched Mr. Zhang Fushu's home and took him into custody.

Between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. on May 14, 2008, the police took into custody Ms. Jia Guirong. They also took Falun Dafa books and a computer from her home.

11. [Chenzhou City, Hunan Province] Additional Information on Practitioners Persecuted in May 2008

On May 11, Mr. Xu Honggui, a retired employee of the Mangshan Forestry Administration Department in Chenzhou City, was taken into custody without cause. Mr. Luo Jiabin from Huaihua City, Hunan Province, working odd jobs in Chenzhou City, and Mr. Lei Anxiang, a former employee of the now-bankrupt Chengzhou City Air-Conditioning Equipment Factory, were also taken into custody. The practitioners are being held at the Chenzhou City Detention Center.

Between May 12 and May 13, 2008, the police searched the home of Mr. Hu Dongpu, a practitioner in his 70s, and harassed him. Ms. Zi Daoyu's satellite antenna was confiscated, her home was searched, and she was ordered to show up at an interrogation session at the police department.

12. [Zhuzhou City, Hunan Province] Ms. Yu Yingzhu Taken to the Forced Labor Camp the Third Time

Ms. Yu Yingzhu, who was taken into custody on April 9, 2008, has been transferred to the Baimalong Forced Labor Camp in Zhuzhou City. She is to serve one year of forced labor. This is the third time Ms. Yu has been taken to a forced labor camp.

13. [Yi County, Liaoning Province] Ms. Yue Hui Taken into Custody a Fourth Time by Local Police Station

At 10:30 a.m. on May 13, 2008, Ms. Yue Hui, a practitioner who lives in Qianyang Township, Yi County, was taken from her home to the township police station by officers Chen Nailian and Song Weixiang (male). This is the fourth time she has been taken to the Qianyang Township Police Station.

On October 21, 2000, Song Fuji, former director of the Qianyang Township Police Station, took her to the police station. She was unlawfully held there for nine days.

In summer 2001, Ms. Yue was taken by Zhang Chengjun, former director of the police station, where she was held for eight days. She was released after her family paid 2,000 yuan.

On October 21, 2002, Zhang Chengjun led officers to break into Ms. Yue's home again and took her to the police station. She was released after her family had to pay 4,000 yuan in 24 hours.

14. [Beijing] Husband of Ms. Liu Guifu, in Exile Overseas, Taken into Custody

On May 14, 2008, Ms. Liu Guifu's husband, Mr. Liu Baoguo, was taken into custody by officers of the Beijing Domestic Security Division. Ms. Liu Guifu has been in exile overseas. Also taken into custody was Ms. Liu's elder sister, Ms. Liu Guimian, and Mr. Jia Shouxin and his wife, Ms. Xue Weiwei. Mr. Jia works at the Electric Industry Institute affiliated with the China Academy of Science in Beijing. Ms. Chen Manxin, a practitioner in the Yanqing area of Beijing, and her niece, Jingjing, went missing on May 13.

15. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Ding Zhenfang Sentenced to Eight Years in Prison

On March 25, 2008, Ms. Ding Zhenfang was put on trial in the Zhongshan District Court in Dalian City. On May 13, the authorities unlawfully sentenced her to eight years in prison without notifying her family.

16. [Fuyu County, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Li Jinggao and Other Practitioners Taken into Custody

Mr. Li Jinggao and his wife in Fuyu County were taken into custody. Around May 7, 2008, Mr. Zhang and his wife were taken into custody. On May 10, officers from the Fuyu County Police Department went to homes of Ms. Liu Guiqin and Ms. Wan Hua and took 41-year-old Ms. Wan into custody.

Ms. Sun Zhaoqin, around 65 years old, lives in Sunjia Village, Shuangyang District, Gaoli Town, Weifang City. On May 14, 2008, officers from the Shuangyang Police Station took her into custody.

At 6:30 a.m. on May 13, 2008, two officers from the Chengdong Police Station in Xingcheng City broke into Mr. Xia Ning's home and took him into custody. Mr. Xia's whereabouts is unknown.

On April 25, 2008, Mr. Chen Sheng, a taxi driver who lives in the Binhe Residential Community in Shunyi City, was waiting for passengers to hire the taxi at the gate of the Niushan No. 1 Middle School. Nine people took him into custody. They took his keys in the taxi and searched his home.

22. [Chicheng County, Hebei Province] Ms. Wang Yufeng and Six Other Practitioners Remain in Custody

Seven practitioners in Chicheng County, including Ms. Wang Yufeng, were taken into custody on April 21, 2007. On April 4, 2008, the county court sentenced them. One practitioner was to serve a suspended prison term. Others were sentenced to from three to five years in prison.

Two female practitioners in Bengbu City were taken into custody for clarifying the truth. On the morning of May 14, officers from the local police station searched their homes. One practitioner has the surname Du. She is a retired worker at the Tushan Pharmaceutical Factory.

Mr. Huang Rongbin and his younger brother in Quanzhou City were taken into custody. The police also took the satellite TV receiving equipment they were repairing. This is the third time Mr. Huang has been taken into custody.

25. [Yueyang County, Hunan Province] Detention Center Guards May Have Mixed an Unknown Substance in Ms. Fu Dongxiu's Food

On March 8, 2008, Ms. Fu Dongxiu was taken into custody by the police in Yueyang County. She has been held at the Rongjiawan Detention Center in Yueyang County. She threw up twice while in detention and otherwise felt ill. It is possible the detention center guards mixed unknown substances into her food.

On May 13, 2008, Ms. Zhang Aixia and Ms. Jiang Liping were taken into custody after being turned in to the police for distributing truth-clarification materials. On May 14, Ms. Jiang's husband was taken into custody. The three practitioners remain in custody.

On May 16, 2008, three family members of Mr. Li Xiangjie, a practitioner in Fengrun District, Tangshan City, went to visit him in the No. 1 Division of the Jidong Prison. Prison guards refused to let them in.

Ms. Xu Zhiying, an employee at the Quanhua Factory in Leshan City, has been taken into custody. Her family has been denied visitation. Ms. Xu faces a secret trial on May 20, 2008.

On April 4, 2008, Mr. Han Lijun, a practitioner in Shuangjingzi Township in Tieling County, Tieling City, was taken from his home by officers from the township police station. The officers tortured him during an unlawful interrogation. Mr. Han was released only after the police extorted 14,000 yuan from him.

On May 8, 2008, Kang Fenggang (male), director of the Sunzhuang Township Police Station in Qinghe County, led other officers to Qinglongzhuang Village in Qingzhuang Township. They took Ms. Kong Shuyuan, in her 50s, into custody while she was working on her farmland. The police took her directly to the Xingtai Brainwashing Center in Hebei Province.

Around May 20, 2008, Ms. Xiao Guizhi, a practitioner around 70 years old who lived in the Xinglongli Residential Community in Qinhuangdao City, was turned in to the police for clarifying the truth. Officers of the Wenhua Road Police Station ordered Ms. Xiao's daughter to take her mother to her home and keep an eye on her. Ms. Xiao is no longer allowed to live in the Xinglongli Residential Community.

Some of the large bills had truth-clarification messages written on them. Clerks at the branch turned her over to the police. Officers from the Hongxing Township Police Station took her into custody. In the afternoon, they searched her home and confiscated two Falun Dafa books. They also took some of Ms. Wang's clothes and packed them up in a bag.

43. [Jixi City, Heilongjiang Province] Additional Information on Ms. Sun Xiuzhi Held in Custody

On May 13, 2008, Ms. Sun Xiuzhi, a practitioner at the Zhangxin Mine in Hengshan District, Jixi City, was turned in to the police while she was clarifying the truth. Officers from the Hengshan District Police Department and from the Zhangxin Police Station pried open Ms. Sun's door. The police took a computer, a cellular phone, and other personal items. On the same day, the police, led by officials of the residential community, also showed up at other practitioners' homes to harass them and confiscated several Falun Dafa books. The police have dispatched people to wait near Ms. Sun Xiuzhi's home in an attempt to catch other practitioners.

Mr. Dong developed symptoms of heart problems, and his legs became swollen. Ms. Xing and Ms. Gao became mentally unstable, and they could not take care of themselves. Their families have been denied any visits.

The Zhuozhou City Court secretly sentenced the three practitioners to prison. Mr. Dong Hanjie was sentenced to three years and was transferred to the Jidong Prison in Hebei Province on April 18, 2008. He is being held at the No. 2 Branch Team for strict supervision, where he was ordered to stand for extended hours. Both his legs became swollen, and his heartbeat became irregular. On one occasion he was in critical condition. Ms. Xing Junhua and Ms. Gao Chunlian have been taken to Shijiazhuang Women's Prison.

45. [Zhuozhou City, Hebei Province] One Falun Gong Material Production Site Sabotaged; Mr. Fu Zhongyi and Ms. Zheng Huifang Taken into Custody

On the evening of April 23, 2008, a Falun Gong truth clarification materials production site in the Nanguan area in Zhuozhou City was sabotaged by Taoyuan Police Station officers. They took a high-speed printer, a paper cutter, binders, notebook computers, and printing paper worth over 5,000 yuan. Mr. Fu Zhongyi, 35, and Ms. Zheng Huifang, in her 40s, were taken into custody. The two practitioners are being held in the Zhuozhou City Police Department Detention Center. Both had been forced to leave town in order to avoid police arrest.

48. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Mr. Shu Zhengmao Taken into Custody; His Car Confiscated

Mr. Shu Zhengmao, 34, is an employee of the Weifang Oil Transportation Division of the China Petroleum Pipeline Storage and Transportation Company in Weifang City. The police took him into custody while he was at work on May 13, 2008. His car was confiscated.

49. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Ms. Zheng Donglian Taken to a Labor Camp

On the afternoon of May 8, 2008, Ms. Zheng Donglian, around 43 years old, was taken into custody by the Dongming Police Station while she was clarifying the truth. On the morning of May 15, she was taken to Wangcun Forced Labor Camp, to serve one year

In January 2000, Ms. Zheng was placed under 15 days of administrative detention for doing the Falun Gong exercises in public.

In October 2000, Ms. Zheng went to Beijing to appeal for the right to practice Falun Gong and was taken into custody in Tiananmen Square. She was held in detention on criminal charges for a month after being taken back to Weifang City.

In October 2002, she was detained on criminal charges again for clarifying the truth.

50. [Baishan City, Jilin Province] Ms. Li Chunguang Taken into Police Custody

Ms. Li Chunguang, a retired teacher who lives in Wangou Town in Jiangyuan District, Baishan City, was taken into custody by domestic security officers from the Wangou Town Forestry Police Department. The police took a computer from her home.

51. [Quanzhou City, Fujian Province] Mr. Huang Yongbin and His Younger Brother, Mr. Huang Xiaobin, Taken into Custody

At around 10:00 p.m. on May 10, 2008, over 20 police officers from the Quanzhou City 610 Office and the Quanzhou City State Security Department broke into the home of Mr. Huang Yongbin and Mr. Huang Xiaobin at No. 49, Xiyuan Village, Qianhuang Town, Quangang District. The officers climbed over the wall to break in. They twisted the two brothers' arms behind them and handcuffed them. Mr. Huang Yongbin and Mr. Huang Xiaobin have been taken to Quanzhou Detention Center. The officers also took two computers and a set of satellite antennae. Mr. Huang Yongbin's wife and their child are all alone at home.

This is the fourth time Mr. Huang Yongbin has been taken into custody. He has spent over three years in custody on two prior occasions. Mr. Huang Xiaobin had also spent over two years in custody.

52. [Hanzhong City, Shaanxi Province] Mr. Zhang Hanrong and Several Other Practitioners Taken into Custody

Since May 7, 2008, Ma Ping'an and other officers in the Domestic Security Division in Hantai District, Hanzhong City, took into custody seven practitioners, searched their homes, and confiscated several computers and printers. The practitioners taken into custody were: Mr. Zhang Hanrong, Ms. Xiao Yanping, Ms. Wu Yali, Ms. Zhang Hanyun, Ms. Li Qingmeng, Ms. Yang Hua, and Mr. Ye Hao.

53. [Beijing] Practitioner Mr. Ouyang Wen Has Not Returned Since May 12, 2008

54. [Jilin Province] Ms. Xue Ruifang Held in the Huadian City Detention Center

At noon on April 24, 2008, Wang Dongguo, head of the Domestic Security Division of the Huadian City Police Department; Zou Guoyi, director of the Huajiao Township Police Station; and other officers broke into Ms. Xue Ruifang's home in Xiluoquan Village, Huajiao Township. They took Ms. Xue into custody and searched her home. Ms. Xue is being held at the Huadian City Detention Center.

55. [Liaoning Province] Ms. Du Jingqin Held in Fushun City Detention Center

When Ms. Du Jingqin, a practitioner in Shuncheng District, Fushun City, went to the countryside to clarify the truth, she was turned in to the authorities. Fushun County Police Department and local police station officers took her into custody then searched her home. Ms. Du is being held in the Fushun City Detention Center. Her family has been denied visitation.

56. [Fushun City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Wang Fengwei and Ms. Pang Yukun Taken to Forced Labor Camps; Ms. Li Ping's Whereabouts Unknown

Ms. Li Ping, Ms. Pang Yukun, and Mr. Wang Fengwei are practitioners in Xiaojia Village, Tayu Town in Wanghua District, Fushun City. On the evening of March 26, 2008, the police viciously beat them and took them into custody. The officers then searched Ms. Li's home. The practitioners were taken to the Fushun City Detention Center.

It has been learned that Mr. Wang Fengwei has been sentenced to one year of forced labor and taken to the Fushun Forced Labor Camp; Ms. Pang Yukun was sentenced to one year of forced labor and taken to Masanjia Forced Labor Camp in Shenyang City. Ms. Li Ping's whereabouts is unknown.

57. [Leihe City, Henan Province] Recent Situations of Practitioners in Linying County

In May 2008, Ms. Ding Hua returned home. Mr. Tong Haikua was being sought after by Li Hui (male) and other officers of the Domestic Security Division after he returned home. His whereabouts is unknown. Mr. Wang Jianwei is being held at the Linying County Detention Center.

58. [Guangshan County, Henan Province] Mr. Zhu Shiwang Taken into Custody While Working Odd Jobs in Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province

Mr. Zhu Shiwang, around 35 years old, is a practitioner from Guangshan County. In April 2000, he went to Beijing to file an appeal and was held in custody for one year by the Guangshan County Police Department before being sentenced to two years of forced labor. After his term ended, Mr. Zhu went to Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province, to work odd jobs. He then relocated to Suzhou City. In November 2007, the Suzhou City police took him into custody for clarifying the truth. Mr. Du has remained in custody ever since.

59. [Yiyang City, Hunan Province] Ms. Zhang Ruilan Taken into Custody

Ms. Zhang Ruilan was forced to leave town for attending a group Fa study in 2007. The police also searched her home. Later she went to stay with her son in Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province. She wrote a letter to officials at her work unit encouraging them to be good. The Yiyang City police tracked her down to Nanchang City and apprehended her. Ms. Zhang has been held in a detention center for over three weeks.
