(Clearwisdom.net) On April 23, 2008, officers from police stations in Tonghua City, Jilin Province arrested at least four practitioners at their homes. A 90-year-old grandmother was traumatized and fell unconscious when the police came to arrest her daughter-in-law. A 60-year-old grandfather died from a heart attack, apparently triggered by the shock incurred during his wife's arrest.

On April 23, 2008, practitioner Ms. Wang Yonghua, 60, was arrested at her home by police from Tonghua County. Ms. Wang's elderly husband witnessed her arrest, and suffered a heart attack. He died later in the hospital.

On the morning of April 24, 2008, Ms. Song Guixiang was arrested by officers from the Guangming Police Station.

On the evening of April 23, 2008, Ms. Yan Fang was arrested at her home.

Practitioner Wang Ronglan was also arrested by officers from the Dongchang Police Station.

On the morning of April 24, 2008, three officers from the Guangming Police Station, including Yuan Zongyi and the deputy director, entered the home of Ms. Cui Shuhua with the intent to arrest her. Her 90-year-old mother-in-law fainted and fell to the floor while witnessing the arrest. Ms Cui and her husband immediately called for an ambulance, when another group of police officers arrived. Ms. Cui insisted that the police go with them to the hospital; however, the police left. A similar incident occurred at the time of the 17th Chinese Communist Party Congress, when the elderly woman also fainted when police officer Yuan Zongyi came to harass her daughter-in-law. She was subsequently sent to the hospital.
