Mr. Pan Baozhong, 35, is from Xiaowangzhuang Village, Xinji Town, Sanhe City, Hebei Province. On the morning of March 7, 2008, Mr. Pan was illegally arrested on the streets of Xinji Town by plainclothes police officers from the National Security Team of the Sanhe Police Station. Later on, police from the National Security Team and Xinji Police Station confiscated Mr. Pan's family's property, and took away his notebook, tape recorder, Dafa books, satellite receiver, and other personal items. Mr. Pan was arrested and forcibly taken to the Sanhe Municipal Police Station.
Pan Baozhong and his wife, Ms. Zhang Jinling, began practicing Falun Gong in 1998. They derived great mental and physical benefits from the practice. In the last nine years since the Chinese Communist Party began persecuting Falun Gong, this couple has been imprisoned many times, beaten, humiliated, fined, their belongings confiscated, etc.
On February 26, 2000, Lei Yuxin from the Xinji Police Station; Yang Shaolin, the secretary of Xinji Town Politics Committee; and Pi Wancheng, the chief of Security, were the leaders in arresting Mr. Pan and his wife at their home. That afternoon Wang Zhendong, the former chief of the police station, ordered police to handcuff them to a pole. Ms. Zhang was then four months pregnant. On the second morning, Wang Zhendong sent the couple to Sanhe Municipal Prison for one month on criminal charges of "disturbing the social order." On her second day in prison, Ms. Zhang told the prison chief that she was pregnant. The chief of the city police station knew this and released her after three days.
Several days later, over ten people drove to Ms. Zhang's home and told her, "Because you practice Falun Gong, you will be forced to have an abortion." Ms. Zhang said "There is nothing wrong with studying Falun Gong!" She was told, "Anyone in Xiaowangzhuang can give birth--except you!"
In the spring of 2001, Wang Zhendong coerced personnel from the local police station to break into Mr. Pan's home and ransack it.
On July 5, 2004, a large group of unknown people circled Mr. Pan's home and arrested him while he was taking a midday rest, and took him to the Langfang Brainwashing Center. After several days of unbearable brainwashing, he managed to escape from the center.
