In Taihe County, Anhui Province. Falun Gong practitioners were illegally arrested and tortured at the detention center. The torture methods included being subjected to freezing temperatures for extended periods of time, being handcuffed, shackled and repeatedly poked with needles.

On February 25, 2008, twelve Falun Gong practitioners from Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province were illegally arrested. Some of them have been holding a hunger strike to protest the persecution. However, regardless of the situation, the police arrested a family member while she tried to visit her sister in jail.

In 2007, Zhang Yuxia's husband Guo Shenghuan, formerly a lecturer in the Mathematical Information Department at Shanghai Normal University, was sentenced to four years in prison.

For seven years Mr. Zhang has refused to renounce the practice of Falun Gong, despite punishments such as torture and solitary confinement. In February 2008, Mr. Zhang was put in solitary confinement again.

Wang Guiming died after less than three days in Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp in February 2008. His family's insistence on an investigation resulted in their arrests.

42 year old Yu Zhou died just 11 days after his arrest on January 26, 2008. His wife, artist Xu Na, is in detention. Recently his parents have disappeared from their home. Apparently the authorities wish to prevent investigation of this crime.

Two practitioners are arrested and detained for exposing the ongoing illegal arrests and detentions of practitioners.

Ms. Gao Ke became disabled after suffering ten days' tortures in Changlinzi Forced Labor Camp, because he asked the camp head to quit the Chinese Communist Party.

In March 2008, Westlake District Courts in Nanchang City held a kangaroo court trial against seven Falun Gong practitioners after they had been jailed for one year. The court staffs admitted that the sentence had been made by the upper level prior to the trial.
