(Clearwisdom.net) After a successful performance in Hawaii, Divine Performing Arts premiered in Seattle on the evening of April 23, 2008. Local VIPs, celebrities, artists and spectators of various fields sang high praises for the show. Wave after wave of applause arose throughout the show.

The audience

State Representative Jim McIntire said, "The performers were phenomenal; the dances are just absolutely amazing, so flowing so smooth. It's terrific. My favorite performance was 'The Lady of the Moon.' I found it just fascinating. I haven't seen skills like that." Mr. McIntire added that the dances were "such a joy to watch."

Representative McIntire, a 5-term legislator and a former House Finance Committee Chair, is a candidate for a State Treasurer this year. A longtime economics teacher at the University of Washington, Representative McIntire felt the performance "had a very unique perspective on the Chinese culture."

Kristina Koons, who accompanied Mr. McIntire to the performance, added, "The cherry blossom piece was just stunning, just stunning. The costumes and the colors are just spectacular. I can imagine how much time and effort it took to put this production [together], so I am not surprised it's been all over the world."

Washington State Senator Paull Shin

State senator Paull Shin represents the 24th district, in northern Seattle. He is from Korea, but his family originally came from China--refugees of a rebellion that took place late in the Song Dynasty (which reigned from 960 to 1279).

"The show is historical," he said. "The music and dances are from way back, from the origin of the mythology of Chinese history, to the Tang Dynasty, and to the modern day."

He continued, "What a well-synchronized event. This is an explanation of history through dance and music--each period has different music and different drums; they are very vivid and distinct." Korean and Chinese dance share a lot of similarities, he said, for instance in terms of the color coordination.

One element of the Spectacular is the incorporation of high-tech backgrounds to add to the performances, which Senator Shin said was "Wonderful, wonderful ... I was amazed."

Of the performers, Senator Shin noted that their "training and discipline was at the top," and that they were "very, very synchronized, the body movements, and each movement with the music was excellent."

Senator Shin finished by saying, "I'm going to tell my colleagues and friends about it. It is an excellent show."

Director General of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Seattle, Mr. Robert Chen and his wife, watched the show and praised the grand scenery and wonderful dances. They were very impressed. Mr. Chen thanked Divine Performing Arts for bring such wonderful Chinese cultural performance to Seattle.

Shariana, an art teacher for the disabled, was delighted with the show. "I thought it was beautiful, it was just gorgeous," she said, "I loved the teacup dance. It was just such a graceful one."

She continued, "I loved the drums, Really, the strength of the young men, with the drums and kind of their warrior dance, and then juxtaposed with the graceful gentleness of the women...it was beautiful."

Shariana is no stranger to the world of the arts: "I teach art. I actually work with the arts with people with disabilities mostly. So we do visual arts programs and some rhythm programs."

"It's incredibly professionally done," she said. "And I loved so much how I think it kind of kept with their culture. Because it was just like as much as you see Broadway plays and everything, it [the show] still held what I think would be more of a Chinese integrity, rather than trying to make it all look American Broadway."

"I was a little worried that they were going to make it all look American. So I really loved it. It just really felt there was the spirit of that kind of Chinese ... It was beautiful. Very beautiful."

Michael Campbell, who works on culture celebrations, said, "The production was very good." He explained, "I like the background imagery as well ... there was so much to it and it gave you a good sense of what the story was about. The costumes are gorgeous and I wanted to see them in detail ... this is a spectacular event."
