(Clearwisdom.net) My wife and I have been promoting the Divine Performance Arts Chinese Spectacular to shops in our local area. I noticed that my wife achieved better results than I did. After some observation, I found that the difference between her and me was that when she talked to people, she didn't have many everyday people's notions.

What was my notion? I cared too much about people's feedback or their expressions. When I felt they were a little perfunctory, I'd say thank you and leave. My wife was different. She was always very passionate when talking to people about the Spectacular. She'd patiently go through the Holiday Wonders photo album with them.

Before I started to practice Falun Dafa, I was proud of myself since I was able to discern people's thoughts from their words and expressions. Now I realized that it was actually a bad notion. I thought it was good. The purpose of trying to discern other people's thoughts from their words and expressions is not so as not to hurt others; rather, it is for self-protection so I wouldn't be embarrassed or offended. Essentially, it comes from a selfish heart.

What we are doing today appears to be promoting the Spectacular. Our goals appear to be either asking the shops to allow us to hang Spectacular posters or to purchase tickets, but in fact, we are saving people. If we pay too much attention to superficial feedback, we might give up on these people when the old forces interfere with them. All the people in this world came for the Fa and are waiting to be saved. In the course of their life, how many opportunities would they have to interact with Falun Dafa practitioners? For some of them, it might be their only chance when we talk to them about the Spectacular. How much regret might we later feel if we gave up on these people simply because we cared too much about our own feelings and thus couldn't let go of our notions?

When we talk to people without so many notions, they feel our compassion and recognize the beauty of the Spectacular. In fact, when my wife talked to them, I noticed they nodded and smiled while listening. As for me, I smiled to them because I wanted to be polite. Therefore, they gave me a smile back to be polite as well. I came to realize that when we introduced the Spectacular to people with few notions and when we simply wanted these people to be saved and have a better future, these people would be moved by our compassion. Perfunctory politeness won't change people since they will simply take us as common salesmen.

I found that it is very important to talk to people face to face when introducing the Spectacular to them. If possible at all, we should go talk to people. By "possible at all," I mean when those people weren't in a hurry to leave. The effect of simply distributing fliers isn't as good. When we talk to people out of compassion, what we say will eliminate the bad elements in other dimensions for these people. "As Dafa disciples tell people the facts, it's like sharp swords shooting out together from their mouths..."(from Teacher's poem, "Hurry up and Tell them") When their true selves awaken, they cannot wait to purchase tickets. Then they'll be saved.

Of course, we can't go to extremes. If they are in a hurry or have many customers to help, we shouldn't try to take all their time. We should be polite and follow common etiquette. Therefore, we must clarify the truth with wisdom.

I have another understanding when it comes to talking to people to clarify the truth. Some practitioners said they were quiet and didn't like to talk to people, especially in public places. They weren't willing to talk to people. I think this characteristic probably formed during our thousands of years of reincarnations, due to various reasons. It is a notion. It isn't from our true selves.

Today during the Fa-rectification period, it is our responsibility to clarify the truth and spread the Fa when the evil Chinese Communist Party is persecuting Falun Dafa. If we don't do it because of our personality, we need to make a breakthrough in changing our personality. This kind of personality could very well be the arrangement of the old forces that we aren't aware of. How do we tell whether it is a test for us? If the Fa asks us to do something yet we feel we can't because of our personality, it must be something that we should change without hesitation. There is an old Chinese proverb that says, "It is more difficult to change one's personality than to move a mountain." For most people, it is true. But the Fa has boundless power. Many practitioners in Taiwan weren't good at talking to people when they first called people in China to clarify the truth to them. Yet in order to save precious Chinese people, they persisted in making phone calls to China for several years. Now they are very good at clarifying the truth on the phone.

The above is my personal understanding. Please correct me if I have said anything inappropriate.
