When I recite from memory or read,

"When it is difficult to endure, try to endure it. When it looks impossible and is said to be impossible, give it a try and see if it is possible." (Lecture Nine, Zhuan Falun, 2000 translation version)

I realize the following: No matter what tribulations or tests a practitioner experiences, it comes down to how one cultivates one's xinxing and how much faith one has in Master and Dafa. It is a process of transforming human notions into divine thoughts. As soon as the righteous thought emerges, the false impression immediately disappears, and what follows is "After passing the shady willow trees, there will be bright flowers and another village ahead!" If one cannot understand this and treats what one sees as real, then that tribulation or test would indeed become real. Humans see things as unchangeable, whereas gods see everything as changeable.

Faith and fear are related. The more faith one has, the less fear. When one has complete faith, one will have no fear. Where does faith come from? It comes from Dafa, from offering sentient beings salvation, and from the steady enrichment of doing the three things.

The Minghui/Clearwisdom website has published many stories along the following lines: "A practitioner clarifying the truth encountered two students who yelled, 'You are Falun Gong.' They immediately ran to the police station, perhaps with the intention to report the practitioner. Human notions would construe this as danger, and that one should immediately run away. However, this practitioner kept his composure and had only one thought: to offer people salvation, just as Master asked. He did not even look at the two students and continued what he should do. Nothing happened in the end."

He had faith in what Master said:

"The old forces don't dare to oppose our clarifying the truth or saving sentient beings. What's key is to not let them take advantage of the gaps in your state of mind when you do things."("Teaching the Fa at the 2002 Fa Conference in Boston")

Faith and fear are of material substance. The more you are filled with the substance of faith, the more the substance of fear is cleaned out. When all is cleaned out, what remains is only faith. As Master said:

"If a bottle filled with dirty things is sealed tightly and thrown into water, it will sink all the way to the bottom. You pour out some of its dirty contents. The more you empty the bottle, the higher it will float in the water. If it is emptied entirely, it will float on the surface completely." (Lecture One, Zhuan Falun)

We must strive to do the three things well and gradually eliminate the source of fear--our various attachments. We must progress quickly to save more sentient beings.
