(Clearwisdom.net) I am in my 60s and am an ordinary farm woman in a mountain valley of Northeastern China. I had previously suffered from six ailments and was skin and bones. My leg and back pain was so severe that I could not even walk for five minutes. The doctor said that I had a problem with one of my lumbar vertebra disks; the large artery between my leg and back was blocked. The hospital doctors implanted an artificial blood vessel. I paid between 20,000-30,000 yuan, but, it did not help.
By the end of May 1999, I started practicing Falun Gong. I was so excited that no words could describe it. Soon, the reasons for all my old ailments were revealed. Master began purifying my body. No matter how painful and how uncomfortable it was, I was still very happy. I went to the practice site about one kilometer (0.64 mile) away from my home to take part in the group exercises. For the first several days my daughter took me there. Eventually I told my daughter, "I want to walk there myself!" Initially I needed to rest twice on the way. Soon I could walk without stopping. My complexion became better, and I also gained weight. I could do housework and outside chores.
Fa study made me understand that benevolent Master had already arranged my path a long time ago. Several years ago, my family had lost one chicken and two piglets. I suspected they were stolen. I was so angry that I swore and cursed loudly. While I was swearing, suddenly I felt like someone had pulled something out of my mind. I was unable to continue the tirade. At that moment I realized that some divine beings were giving me a lesson, and I said to my husband, "I lost my things and I am not allowed to speak out; we can't have a good life!" Now I have understood that Master was probably teaching me "Truthfulness-Benevolence-Tolerance" and teaching me not to create karma. I also saw splendid heavenly palaces, seven beautiful celestial maidens, stars turning into Chinese characters on the sky's blue background, as well as other miraculous scenes. One time I also saw all the stars in the sky moving like spinning wheels. I could not help but think, "If I could rise that high, I would make common people live good lives!"
Master taught us,
"I also want to tell you that your nature in the past was actually based on egotism and selfishness. From now on, whatever you do, you should consider others first, so as to attain the righteous Enlightenment of selflessness and altruism. So from now on, whatever you do or whatever you say, you must consider others--or even future generations--along with Dafa's eternal stability." ("Non-Omission in Buddha-Nature" in Essentials for Further Advancement)
I came to understand that Master wants Falun Gong practitioners and all human beings to assimilate to Dafa, to change from "egotism and selfishness" to "selflessness and altruism" and to enter the new universe, which meets the requirements of the future.
On July 20, 1999, the persecution started. Falun Gong practitioners were faced with a serious situation. My daughter was arrested. The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) used their power to break the law and to fabricate lies to deceive people. We needed to clarify the truth about Falun Gong and expose the CCP's evil crimes.
Fellow practitioners made all kinds of truth clarification materials, including illustrated pamphlets, posters, and small flags with "Falun Dafa Is Good," "Truthfulness-Benevolence-Tolerance Is Good," "Persecuting Falun Gong practitioners is a crime" written on them. I delivered the posters to every household. However, I found that some of the posters were torn and thrown away. Some people also make cynical remarks and said that the posters glued on their door offended "the immortals" their family was worshiping.
What should I do to turn the situation around? Facing the overwhelming fabrications and the frenzied suppression, I had to first discard the mentality of fear. I had some new ideas. I glued the truth material on the door and walls of my house, on the trees at my door, and next to my farmland, and I tied small flags on the fruit trees in my orchard. My fellow villagers and people passing by could see these messages but they could not easily do anything about them. In July 2003 our area was hit by heavy hail. When it was over, the farmers anxiously surveyed their farmland. They saw that the hailstones had destroyed the crops--nothing was left but the stems. However, the acreage where the small flags hung, which was only separated from other land by a road, the crops and fruit trees were all right, with only a few hailstones visible in the field.
What had happened to the crops during the hailstorm spread quickly, and comments could be heard everywhere: "Falun Dafa is miraculous! Falun Gong practitioners are fortunate!" The next day, the villagers removed the flags reading "Falun Dafa Is Good" tied to the fruit trees in my family's orchard and placed them by their entrance doors. I tied more flags to my fruit trees. The villagers again removed them and fastened them onto their fruit trees. This amazed my family members and me. The hailstorm had driven out the atheists' lies and opened the minds of those people who had been in delusion and had been unwilling to be awakened. The hailstorm also awoke the people's trust in the truth Falun Gong practitioners told.
By the end of 2004, the Epoch Times published the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party. I delivered copies of them and CDs door to door, and used the opportunities I had to talk to people and to let them understand that only by withdrawing from the CCP and its affiliated organizations and thus erasing the mark of the beast could they ensure their future safety. There were nearly one hundred households in my village; except for a few families, most of them believed our words. They withdrew from the CCP, the Youth League, and the Young Pioneers.
I had visited with and spoken to people in several households many times. Some of them did not withdraw from the CCP and its affiliated organizations until I had talked to them for almost two years. One family had a mute but not dutiful son. The head of this family paid no attention to me when I spoke with him and tried to slink away. His ice-cold attitude discouraged me. He showed an especially negative attitude when I mentioned retributions, but I thought he probably also descended to this world from a high level. If I gave up on him, wasn't I giving up on a big group of beings? I must untie the knot in his mind with the kind of compassion that could melt steel, as Master mentioned in a Fa lecture. When I talked to him the seventh time he finally opened up to me and asked, "Why do I have such a child?" At that moment I came to realize then and there that this problem had prevented him from acting before, and that he had been so bothered that he could not hear and accept any other advice. I thought to resolve the knot in his mind from this standpoint so he might accept the offer of salvation. I enumerated examples to explain karma to him; reward for good deeds and retribution for evil doing, and good results coming from good causes. He seemed suddenly awakened from the delusion that had bothered him for many years. He told me right away that his family members who had joined the CCP and its affiliated organizations would withdraw from them. From then on, his mute son became good to his old parents, and the old couple also became nice to others in society.
I also explained the truth to several village cadres. I was exceedingly grateful when I learned that fellow practitioners had persuaded the village branch Party committee secretary to withdraw from the CCP. Now several of the village cadres have changed, and practitioners' cultivation environment has changed for the better. The villagers are also getting more truth clarification materials and learning more about Falun Gong.
When advising people to withdraw from the CCP and its affiliated organizations I also paid attention to those people who might start cultivating Dafa in the near future. I spent more time talking with them about Falun Gong. A 70-year-old man from a poor village family had arthritis and walked with difficulty. The medicine he took did not seem to help. His family had no money for him to go to the hospital. I told him that Falun Gong is miraculous, and sincerely believing in Falun Gong can bring good rewards. I told him that it would be best if he could often read or say, "Falun Dafa is Good, Truthfulness-Benevolence-Tolerance is Good." He believed in my words and did what I told him. Not long after, the illness that had plagued him for many years disappeared. He no longer needed to spend money on medicine and he could do all the farm work since then. He talked to every person he met and told him or her that Falun Gong is miraculous and Falun Gong saved his life. He was grateful to Master from the bottom of his heart. He said that he wanted to burn incense for Master and wanted to learn to read, so that he could join me to read the Fa and do the exercises. He has taken the initiative to promote Falun Gong. All these incidents made me see hope for the village and admire the light of Falun Gong that has already beamed on this mountain village. The lives here have experienced the boundless grace of the Lord Buddha.
Master stressed many times in Fa lectures that Falun Gong practitioners should seize all opportunities to offer sentient beings salvation before the Fa rectifies the human world and to offer as many living beings as possible salvation.
After most of the people in my village had withdrawn from the CCP and its affiliated organizations, I went to neighboring villages and to places where crowds gathered to offer additional people salvation. Looking back on my path of truth clarification, I have seen that Falun Gong is gaining more and more awareness in people's minds, and that lives are awakening. The soul-shaking wave of "withdrawing from the CCP and its affiliated organizations" is getting more and more magnificent.
