Many Chinese-American families in New York gathered at Radio City Music Hall to see the Chinese New Year Splendor on this Chinese New Year's Day. Some said that seeing the show on the first day of the new year made everything took on a new look, one filled with hope, when they heard the resounding drums.

Ms. Li, who moved to the US from Guangdong, China, more than ten years ago, said the show was great and the powerful drum music was full of vitality. She felt this new year was very special.

Mr. Qin, a retired engineer in Long Island, and his wife said they hadn't had such a new year for a long time. "It was great!" Ms. Qing's favorite was "Redemptive Suffering." Ms. Luo said she has seen the New Year shows by the Divine Performing Arts for three years in a row. In her opinion they had gotten better and better each year.

Mr. Hong, who has a clothing factory, took his wife and daughter-in-law to the show. He said they were proud of the Chinese culture. On stage in a world-class theater, he said that the show displayed the profoundness of their culture not only to the Chinese but also to Westerners.
