CIPFG Japan Branch Holds Press Conference and Lights Human Rights Torch to Stop CCP's Persecution (Photos)

(Clearwisdom.net) The Coalition to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong (CIPFG), consisting of more than 300 people from various walks of life, initiated the Global Human Rights Torch Relay, to stop the persecution of Falun Gong before the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. On August 3, 2007, Ando Kan, deputy director of CIPFG Japan Branch called again for a stop to the eight-year-long persecution of Falun Gong and explained the global relay routes and meaning of the activity to many media reporters. Mr. Kan said that the torch relay was not to boycott the Olympic Games but was to express the hope that the persecution of Falun Gong be stopped before the Olympic Games, which symbolize freedom and respect for human rights.

(Clearwisdom.net) On August 2, 2007, the Asian Chapter of the Coalition to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong (CIPFG) held press conferences in five countries to announce the details of the Human Rights Torch Relay. The purpose of the Human Rights Torch Relay is to expose the persecution of Falun Gong by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), and call upon the international community to help stop the persecution. The Human Rights Torch will be lit in Athens, Greece on August 9, 2007.

They set up an information booth in Thun Square and demonstrated the Falun Gong exercises on the stage. They raised awareness about the CCP's persecution of Falun Gong practitioners both inside and outside China.
