Reflections from Several Practitioners in Beijing

Beijing Is Special, But the Persecution There Is Also Very Severe

Beijing has been the capital of many dynasties and is the place of origin for many significant movements in recent times. Many important events have taken place there during this particular course of history. Many dramas related to the Fa-rectification and the changes in history are continually being played out, dynasty after dynasty.

Beijing is the capital of China. It was also the central location where Teacher imparted the Fa. He held 13 sessions there. During normal times, Beijing functioned as a capital center only. However, after 1999 it became the center for Jiang's regime and the Party to persecute Dafa. Every evil instruction and every persecution-related plot and execution originated there. Beijing is the headquarters where the evil heads congregate. It has become an evil testing ground which the old forces have been trying hard to maintain. On a human level, it is a center that carries out the old forces arrangements. Beijing is:

• A center for history, culture, politics, economics, and of CCP control

• A center for Teacher to widely spread Dafa

• A center for the CCP to persecute Dafa

• A center for Falun Dafa practitioners to display their mature character during the Fa-rectification

As a center for politics, economics and culture, Beijing's irreplaceable influence is felt in every province in Mainland China. Beijing is also the primary location where evil leaders meet and issue instructions. There is a large group of practitioners here, many who possess great knowledge and whose energy is very strong. So can the favorable and unfavorable Fa-rectification state not affect the entire country? How can its influence not be great?

(1) On the surface, if you look at the number of Dafa practitioners that were persecuted to death and the cruelty of punishments implemented, the most serious persecution took place in the three provinces in Northeast China. However, I feel the place where the most serious persecution occurs is Beijing. From a cultivation perspective, the pressure from the persecution and the large number of evil factors makes the persecution there more severe. The suppression of a cultivation environment where fellow practitioners can meet and encourage each other is intense, and many practitioners from outside easily become tired in Beijing. From the perspective of Fa-rectification, by suppressing practitioners' cultivation states and creating a stressful atmosphere, the evil hinders the situation of Beijing practitioners validating Dafa and saving sentient beings. This is similar to the situation over all of China. The efforts to "transform" and spread evil enlightenment were initiated in Beijing.

(2) Recently, it has been reported on the Internet that Beijing has the most illegal arrests--several cases every day. This shows that current efforts to dissolve the evil and rescue those who have been arrested are not enough. In many other cities and provinces, practitioners have effectively created a harmonized "one body." For example, as soon as a practitioner is arrested, within one day fellow practitioners in the same region collectively send forth righteous thoughts for that practitioner. Such a response of continuously sending forth righteous thoughts also demonstrates the advanced overall state of local practitioners. Why is Beijing behind? Compared with other places, where do Beijing practitioners fall short?

(3) In my opinion the overall state of Dafa practitioners in Beijing is a reflection of the practitioners themselves. Of course there is a lot of evil here, but Teacher has said:

"Also, don't use the wicked things that happen during the persecution as an excuse for not validating the Fa or not validating it well, for the reality is, the wicked persecution arranged by the old forces was put in place to test you. Even though we don't acknowledge the old forces' existence or arrangements, they have done what they've done. You play the leading role in this period of history, and the existence of everything at present, whether it be evil or the upright gods, has to do with you." ("Walk Straight Your Path," 2005)

How they treat their harsh environment with righteous thoughts and how they understand from a Fa-rectification perspective, as Beijing Fa-rectification Dafa disciples, their responsibilities, and fully displaying their abilities are extremely important for Beijing's special location in the universe during this Fa-rectification.

Nothing Exists for Evil after All

I think we should study Teacher's approach, such as Teacher asking us to study the Fa continuously. Why? Teacher keeps telling us more and more, going into depth on how Fa-study plays a vital role in our cultivation. Only if we understand the Fa in our hearts can we strive forward in our hearts. When Teacher encourages practitioners who participate in the Divine Land Marching Band and the Chinese New Year Spectacular, he often talks about their importance. This tells us how great are the responsibilities that Dafa practitioners are shouldering and how honored we are, so why can't we be more diligent? As for Beijing practitioners who can truly come to understand the great responsibilities bestowed upon them during this unique period in history, how lucky we are! If we can truly understand that for us in Beijing, this center, displaying our righteousness is the hope for so many sentiment beings in the universe, so won't we treasure this opportunity and make more effort?

Therefore, I think we should keep reminding ourselves of the great responsibilities that Beijing practitioners are undertaking, because this is the center of all events.

Teacher talked about Manhattan in "Teaching the Fa at the 2004 International Fa Conference in New York." He said:

"Manhattan is pretty unique: it's practically the financial center of the world, and a lot of major corporations all over the world have offices or branches here. In other words, it is a point of convergence for the financial world and is closely connected to the whole world. And the people who gather in Manhattan are, owing to its uniqueness, themselves unique. Many well-educated people are concentrated here, as well as people with a certain amount of power and financial means in society. In other words, the roles that they play in society are no ordinary thing."

We should enlighten to the importance of Beijing from this Fa lecture, which will also help us enlighten to the greater responsibilities that Beijing practitioners have, and which will also help us realize that the vow made ages ago, to settle in Beijing, is such an honor. Then how well will we have done? Compared to the Northeast of China, Hebei Province, and Shandong Province, how well will we have done? How should we treat ourselves here in Beijing, and with what mindset should we face today's responsibilities and difficulties? Fellow Beijing practitioners, please think it over!

It was mentioned recently in an article from the West, that because practitioners ignored Beijing in their righteous thoughts, the evil in Beijing was able to go to other provinces to commit bad deeds. From this incident, they realized that eradicating the evil from Beijing was not only to assist Beijing, but is every practitioner's duty. Even practitioners from outside Beijing have come to realize this. Haven't practitioners in Beijing truly "been able to understand ourselves?" When looking from a grander perspective, Beijing practitioners should display greater righteousness, yet they have not done so, and they also don't know how to seize this time.

Teacher also mentioned,

"Chinatown is precisely the kind of place that mainland Chinese patronize the most, so you can't let up there and lose out on that place, a place where Dafa disciples stand to have a tremendous effect. For this reason you should all take pause and seriously ask yourselves: Had you been feeling that those places were a bit too evil and were you a little afraid? But think about it--who should actually be afraid of whom?" ("Teaching the Fa in San Francisco," 2005)

I vaguely remember a Beijing practitioner who saw other practitioners that were very depressed after being forcibly "transformed." All they could think about was how to leave detention as quickly as possible. They were depressed, with no purpose in life, becoming idle and wasting time. The practitioner began to think about how to play a leading role in helping others to strive forward. He thought about studying the Fa, but if the depressed mentality didn't change, then nothing else would have been changed. He then thought about the approach Teacher used, so he began to take advantage of every opportunity to share with fellow practitioners every time they met. This is what he said in their sharing, "We are right in the center of the most evil place and in the closest proximity to the evil. If we were to only send forth righteous thoughts, we would have achieved a tremendous effect, which would be extremely precious. Shouldn't we treasure this opportunity? Shouldn't we take advantage of it? Teacher mentions, 'Since the old evil forces insist on giving us a chance to eliminate them, make good use of it. History has never seen this before, it's hard to come by.' ("Teaching the Fa at the Washington, D.C. International Fa Conference" in 2001 from Guiding the Voyage). Since we are here, we need to validate the Fa and eradicate the evil here. How could we waste our time? Every word we say, every righteous thought, every righteous action has tremendous effect. Shouldn't we cherish this opportunity?" Through this sharing, fellow practitioners changed from being pessimistic to being optimistic. They changed from being depressed to being in good spirits. Through continuously studying the Fa, within two months, the overall situation began to fundamentally change. Later, these practitioners started to clarify the truth and oppose the persecution, and many practitioners came back to cultivating and wrote their solemn declarations.

Although Beijing is the center, it is in no way prepared for the evilness that originates here. We have examined the importance and special situation of this center so that we can truly realize Beijing practitioners' responsibilities and mission. If we firmly believe in Teacher's Fa truths, then we should cherish ourselves more and cherish the opportunity to be in Beijing that was brought about by our predestined relationship from ages ago. We should cherish the righteousness of our words and actions in this evil center. When we feel that things are difficult, we shouldn't be depressed. On the contrary, we should treat it with a positive attitude and use our stronger righteous thoughts to create a new situation, and make this a center where Dafa practitioners display the righteousness of the greater Fa-rectification and save sentient beings, and not fail to fulfill our mission for living in Beijing.
