They called for an end to the persecution of Falun Gong by the CCP. Under pressure from the Chinese regime, Russian police told practitioners to leave or they would be charged with “interfering with embassy work.” Practitioners peacefully explained the facts to the police, saying, “All we are doing accords with Russian law. Sometimes they did not hesitate to use rogue methods such as constantly phoning the official in charge of the police station in order to keep him from working. By doing this, they wanted to force the police station officials to appear personally to drive practitioners away, but their methods were not successful. This time the Chinese Embassy put pressure on Russia by citing the “Opening Ceremony of the Year of China” activities. Tempted by both political and economic interests, Russian authorities disregarded Russian law at the cost of violating civil rights. Russian practitioners are very distressed.
