Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Li Jizhong, 28, lives in Zhangqiu City, Shandong Province. He graduated from the Shandong Province Civil Construction Vocational School and is an employee of the Zhangqiu City Urban Development Company.

At around 11:00 a.m. on December 27, 2006, Mr. Li was illegally arrested by two officers. At around 6:00 p.m. the same day, he was taken to a detention center. On January 4, 2007, Mr. Li was released because he protested the persecution by going on a hunger strike for eight days without water and he was in serious condition. Officials of the 610 Office extorted five thousand yuan from his family and permitted him to be released temporarily, on bail.

On January 5, 2007, the officials had Mr. Li sentenced to three years of forced labor, but they did not arrest him immediately. They went to his home several times to search for evidence to use against him, but failed to find any.

On February 5, 2007, Mr. Li went to the city's 610 Office to ask for the return of his personal property, which the officials had taken after ransacking his home; instead he was arrested on the spot and taken to the Wangcun Forced Labor Camp. Mr. Li went on a hunger strike without water again to protest the persecution. His wife is living in difficultly with their four-year-old daughter.
