On October 12, 2007, Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Xing Junhua, Ms. Gao Chunlian, Mr. Dong Hanjie and others were arrested and detained in Zhuozhou City Police Department. They were severely tortured and transferred to Zhuozhou City Detention Center. Some of them have been sentenced to forced labor.

Dec. 11

Mr. Zhao Wenshan began Falun Gong practice in August 1997. After the persecution began in July 1999, he has been frequently harassed and monitored. He was arrested in 2003 and then again in 2006. He was subjected to all kinds of cruel torture and secretly sentenced to prison. On January 28, 2007, he was transferred to Tailai Prison where he suffered sleep deprivation, small cell confinement, beating, and being soaked in water for several days.

Dec. 12

In October 2007, an elderly, but previously strong and healthy practitioner died in a prison hospital after several years of mistreatment. Permission to move him to another medical facility was denied.

Falun Gong Practitioners are tortured to force them to renounce the practice of Falun Gong. They are also forced to produce goods for export.

Dec. 13

Guards at Suihua Forced Labor Camp use very cruel methods to torture Falun Gong practitioners. Warning: some of the torture descriptions are quite graphic.

Dec. 14

On July 14, 2007, Mr. Xie, 66, was detained at the Changsha City Detention Center in Changqiao, Changsha County. Ms. Tan, 60, was taken directly to the Hunan Province Women's Prison and imprisoned in the Sixth Ward. Their family's attempts to visit them and find out their condition have been rejected.

Dec. 16

Yang Hong overcame poor health when she began the practice of Falun Gong. Her family also benefited from the practice, but then her family was torn apart by the persecution. The story of Ms. Yang Hong's long imprisonment and torture shows the difficulty practitioners face in trying to communicate their situation to either Chinese or international authorities.
