(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 30 cities or counties in 13 provinces. In this report, 15 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention and at least 53 practitioners were illegally arrested.
1. [Hanzhong City, Shaanxi Province] Several Practitioners Taken to Brainwashing Center
On October 10, 2007, agents of the Hanzhong City 610 Office in Shaanxi Province forcibly took several practitioners from their homes to the lodging facility in Huayan Instrument Factory in Nanzheng County for brainwashing.
2. [Handan City, Hebei Province] Mr. Li Shitou Taken into Custody
On October 17, 2007, practitioner Mr. Li Shitou from Handan City was taken into custody by Wang Hongwei (male) and Li Tao (male), both of whom are leaders of the Shengliqiao Police Station in Handan City. The officers took Mr. Li's younger sister's personal computer. Mr. Li is being unlawfully held at the Shengliqiao Police Station.

3. [Junan County, Shandong Province] Additional Information on Practitioner Mr. Cao Guozhen, Unlawfully Taken into Custody
On October 12, 2007, five police officers from the Zhulu Town Police Station in Junan County arrived at practitioner Mr. Cao Guozhen's home in Zhulu Town, Junan County. The officers unlawfully searched Mr. Cao's home, confiscating a television set, two DVD players, a satellite receiver, a notebook computer, a network card, a printer, a paper cutter, and some truth-clarification materials. The officers later took Mr. Cao into custody.
On October 13, the police again searched Mr. Cao's home and confiscated copies of the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party and other materials. The police also drove away Mr. Cao's car.
In March 2001, Mr. Cao was unlawfully sentenced to two years and three months of forced labor. Afterwards, his wife could not bear the pressure and left town. She subsequently divorced Mr. Cao in fear she would be implicated and persecuted.

4. [Zhangqiu City, Shandong Province] Mr. Meng Lingchuan Taken into Custody Again despite Persecution-induced Mental Illness
Mr. Meng Lingchuan was an agronomist at the Guanzhuang Township Seed Station in Zhangqiu City. In 2001, he was unlawfully sentenced to three years of forced labor. He suffered a mental collapse as a result of labor camp abuse. He wandered away from home twice after being released. On October 12, 2007, officers from the Guangzhuang Township Police Station took him into custody again at the Zhangqiu City Detention Center. Mr. Meng has not eaten or drunk anything since.

5. [Qianxi County, Hebei Province] State Security Police Take Practitioner Mr. Lu Zuojin into Custody Again
On the morning of October 17, 2007, officers from the State Security Division of the Qianxi County Police Department arrived again at practitioner Mr. Lu Zuojin's home in Donghuayuan Township. Mr. Lu is a self-employed shuttle driver. The officers took him to the police station and confiscated his television set, VCD player, satellite receiver, DVDs, copies of the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party, a Chinese edition of Clearwisdom Weekly, recent articles written by the founder of Falun Gong, and other items.

6. [Beihai City, Guangxi Autonomous Region] Police Forcibly Disassemble Satellite Dishes in Practitioners' Homes
On October 9, 2007, around ten officers from the Yinhai District Police Department, the Longtan Police Station, and the Yintan Town Police Station in Beihai City forcibly disassembled satellite receivers in the homes of practitioners Ms. Ye Jiao, Ms. Guan Mei, and Mr. Zhang Yutuan.
On October 12, a group of officers and village officials and those from the town government forcibly destroyed a satellite TV in practitioner Mr. Wang Weihe's home in Jiangbian Village.
7. [Shifang City, Sichuan Province] Mr. Wang Daguo and Other Practitioners Taken into Custody
On October 13, 2007, officers of the Shifang City 610 Office unlawfully took pictures of practitioners in Shifang Square. The officers also followed and monitored practitioners. They forcibly took into custody practitioners Ms. Wang Daguo and Mr. Zheng Dekuan and his wife. Mr. Zheng and his wife need to take care of their 90-year-old mother. Ms. Wang Daguo had been unlawfully taken custody numerous times and has had her home searched numerous times.
8. [Tianjin] Ms. Sun Xueshuang and Other Practitioners Taken into Custody
On October 9, 2007, three practitioners in the Hongqiao area in Tianjin, Ms. Sun Xueshuang, Mr. Zhou Huarong, and Ms. Zhai, were taken into custody by officers of the local North Xianyang Road Police Station. The practitioners have been transferred to the Hongqiao Detention Center.
9. [Rongcheng City, Shandong Province] Ms. Wang Ling and Other Practitioners Taken into Custody
Around October 11, 2007, police unlawfully took into custody practitioner Ms. Wang Ling in the Shidao area. A practitioner whose given name is Huazi (female) and other unknown practitioners were taken into custody along with Ms. Wang Ling.
10. [Huainan City, Anhui Province] Ms. Li Liangwan Taken into Custody
At around 7:00 p.m. on October 16, 2007, police received a report that Ms. Li Liangwan, a practitioner in Huainan City, was clarifying the truth. Officers from the Tianjia'an Police Department unlawfully took Ms. Li to a local brainwashing center.
11. [Jiaozhou City, Shandong Province] Several Practitioners Taken into Custody
Since October 8, 2007, at least six other practitioners in Jiaozhou City, not including Ms. Hei Jianfeng, who was taken into custody by the local 610 Office, have been taken into custody. They are:
Ms. Li Shiying, 54, taken into custody on October 9;
Ms. Shen Yan, 55, an employee of a rubber factory, taken into custody on October 11;
Ms. Li Xinfeng, 58, a worker at a blanket factory, taken into custody on October 13;
Mr. Zhai Yongqiang, in his fifties, business owner of a food store, Ms. Zhou Hui, in her fifties, a physician at Huikang Clinic, and Ms. Liu Jinmei, 46, a director of paper box factory, taken into custody on October 14.

12. [Huludao City, Liaoning Province] Additional Information on Ms. Zhu Hong, Taken into Custody
Ms. Zhu Hong lives in Leijiadian Township, Jianchang County, Huludao City. On October 12, 2007, officers of the Leijiadian Township Police Station and the Jianchang Police Department and members of the State Security Division forcibly took her to the Jianchang Detention Center. The police searched the homes of Ms. Zhu and another practitioner and confiscated television sets, satellite receivers, tape recorders, and VCD players.
13. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Liu Litao Persecuted in Panjin Prison
On October 10, 2007, practitioner Mr. Liu Litao was transferred from the Nanshan Prison in Jinzhou City to the Panjin Prison. Mr. Liu is physically weak and frequently vomits.
14. [Lanzhou City, Gansu Province] Numerous Practitioners Held at Gongjiawan Brainwashing Center in Lanzhou City
By the end of July 2007, numerous practitioners were being held at the Gongjiawan Brainwashing Center in Lanzhou City, Gansu Province including: Ms. Liu Wanqiu, Mr. Qian Shiguang, Mr. Niu Wanjiang, Mr. Guan Longshan, Ms. Lu Guiqin, Ms. Wang Caixia, Ms. Li Hongping, Ms. Dong Xiulan (in her sixties), and Ms. Song Lanping.
15. [Longhua County, Hebei Province] Police Search Practitioner Mr. Guo Guisheng's Home
On September 28, 2007, four officers from the state security division of Longhua County Police Department and the director of the Hanjiadian Township Police Station unlawfully searched practitioner Mr. Guo Guisheng's home. They claimed to be making a routine visit after his release from detention. They confiscated Falun Dafa books, a television set, a cellular phone, a VCD player, a satellite receiver, and an MP3 player. Then they extorted 5,000 yuan from Mr. Guo's family in exchange for the return of these items.
16. [Pingdu City, Shandong Province] Police Search Practitioner Ms. Dai's Home
Ms. Dai, in her fifties, is a practitioner in the Xifengtai area in Pingdu City, Shandong Province. On September 12, 2007, four officers suddenly broke into and forcibly searched her home. The officers confiscated Falun Dafa books, cassettes for the Falun Gong exercises, a wall calendar, two MP3 players, and other items.
17. [Fushun City, Liaoning Province] Police Unlawfully Detain Mr. Luo Chungui and Mr. Zhang Wenquan
On October 15, 2007, Mr. Luo Chungui and Mr. Zhang Wenquan from Wanghua District in Fushun City were turned in to the police while they were distributing leaflets and persuading others to withdraw from the Chinese Communist Party and its affiliated organizations. Officers from the Gongnong Police Station took them into custody. The two practitioners have been unlawfully placed under detention.
18. [Jiangyou City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Wu Qihui Taken into Custody Again
On October 8, 2007, Ms. Wu Qihui was taken into custody again. She was taken to a brainwashing center located within the No. 903 Research Institute in Jiangyou City, Sichuan Province. Ms. Wu was unlawfully sentenced to forced labor twice: once in 2001 and once in 2005. She was held in the Nanmusi Forced Labor Camp in Zizhong County, Sichuan Province, where she suffered severe mental and physical abuse.
19. [Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province] Additional Information on the Persecution of Mr. Zhou Xiangdang's Family
On September 25, 2007, Mr. Zhou Xiangdang's father, Mr. Zhou Zhencai, was sent to the Changli Brainwashing Center by officials of the Shuangkou Forced Labor Camp in Tianjin. In addition, when Mr. Zhou Xiangdang's sister-in-law went to the Tianjin Prison to ask for the release of Mr. Zhou Xiangdang, she was briefly taken into custody. Six members of Mr. Zhou's family have been persecuted during the past eight years.
20. [Yongjia County, Zhejiang Province] Ms. Chen Guizhi Unlawfully Detained
Ms. Chen Guizhi, a practitioner from Quanzhou City, Fujian Province, went to Oubei Town in Yongjia County to do business. On the morning of October 16, 2007, a group of officers from the state security division in Yongjia County unlawfully searched Ms. Chen's home. They confiscated all of her Falun Dafa books and DVDs and held Ms. Chen at the Yongjia County Detention Center. Ms. Chen was told that she was to be placed in detention for fifteen days.

21. [Yi County, Hebei Province] Passengers on Beijing-Bound Buses Forced to Prove Non-relation to Falun Gong Practitioners
Security personnel at traffic checkpoints bordering Beijing demanded passengers of buses heading to Beijing to present letters from local village residential committees certifying that none of their family members practice Falun Gong. This absurd regulation has caused indignation among the people.
22. [Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province] A Young Practitioner Surnamed Wu Was Taken into Custody on September 27, 2007 and Has Been on a Hunger Strike
23. [Shouguang City, Shandong Province] Mr. Wang Chunjing and His Wife Ms. Li Shumei Unlawfully Detained
On the morning of October 15, 2007, practitioners Mr. Wang Chunjing and his wife Ms. Li Shumei in Hou Town, Shouguang City, were taken from their home by officers of the Shouguang City Police Department. The police searched their home the same afternoon. On the morning of October 16, they were unlawfully detained and taken to the Shouguang City Detention Center.

24. [Beijing] On October 8, 2007, State Security Officers Arrested Practitioner Mr. Wei Suwen at His Work Unit
25. [Shantou City, Guangdong Province] Practitioners Mr. Xu Ruiliang and Ms. Su Wanlan Taken into Custody Again
At around 9:00 p.m. on October 11, 2007, a dozen police officers and members of the Shantou City 610 Office broke into practitioner Mr. Xu Ruiliang's home to take him into custody. The same night, the police went to search the gas tank delivery shop operated by Mr. Xu and took into custody a clerk, Ms. Su Wanlan.
This is the third time Mr. Xu has been taken into custody. He was unlawfully sentenced to one year of forced labor in 2000 and sentenced to two years of forced labor in 2004. Ms. Su had been unlawfully sentenced to forced labor as well. This is the second time she has been taken into custody.
26. [Deyang City, Sichuan Province] Police Take Ms. Gong Xingcan's Parents into Custody
On October 12, 2007, police took into custody practitioner Ms. Gong Xingcan's parents (both practitioners) on Shifang Street in Deyang City. It was reported that the police also searched the practitioners' home. Ms. Gong's father has returned home, and her mother remains in custody at the Deyang City Detention Center.
27. [Guiyang City, Guizhou Province] Ms. Mo Xiuqin Taken into Custody
Ms. Mou Xiuqin, 48, is a practitioner at a tobacco leaves re-baking factory in Nanming District, Guiyang City. The police received reports that she clarified the truth in public. On October 13, 2007, officers from the Niuchang Police Station and the Ergezhai Police Station in Baiyun District, Guiyang City took Ms. Mou into custody. The police also searched her home. Ms. Mou's 90-year-old father-in-law and her 10-year-old mentally disabled son have been left at home unattended.
28. [Xianyang City, Shaanxi Province] Practitioner Ms. Liu Li Sent to Forced Labor Camp
Ms. Liu Li, 22, is a practitioner at the hospital of the Northwestern No. 7 Textile Factory in Xianyang City. On October 1, 2007, officers of the Qindu Police Department took her into custody. Ms. Liu is being held at the Qindu Detention Center. She has been unlawfully sentenced to forced labor.
29. [Shenzhou City, Hebei Province] Cases of Persecution
At 9:00 p.m. on June 14, 2007, a dozen police officers from the Dong'anzhuang Police Station arrived at Xijingming Village and forcibly took into custody Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Song Chunhong. Ms. Song is being held at the Shenzhou Detention Center.
At 9:00 p.m. on June 15, 2007, officers from the Beixicun Township Police Station unlawfully forced their way into practitioner Mr. Song Ruhui's home. They took Mr. Song to the Shenzhou Detention Center. Later, Mr. Song's wife, Suqin, and his other family members went to the detention center several times to ask for his release, but their requests were rejected. Mr. Song's father, in his seventies, asked for help from fellow practitioners. On the evening of July 30, practitioners Ms. Xiangshen and Ms. Huang Chun, together with Suqin, went to the home of Huang Wenju (male), director of the judiciary department, to clarify the truth to him. Huang handcuffed Xiangshen and Ms. Huang Chun, and tied up Suqin. He took them to the Shenzhou City Detention Center. The police department extorted 5,000 yuan from each family before releasing the three of them.
On around August 20, 2007, Ms. Gao Chunhua, a practitioner from Dafengying Township, was sent from the Shenzhou Detention Center to Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province for two years of forced labor.
30. [Linqing City, Shandong Province] Mr. Li Yuhuan Forced to Leave Town
On October 10, 2007, five or six officers from the Xianfeng Police Station in Linqing City broke into practitioner Mr. Li Yuhuan's home for an unlawful search. They took Mr. Li into custody. At around midnight, Mr. Li managed to escape. He has had to leave town to avoid arrest and has nowhere to live.
31. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Mr. Liu Shengzhu, Ms. Wang Honghua and Ms. Ma Juan Unlawfully Sentenced to Prison
On October 15, 2006, practitioners Mr. Liu Shengzhu, Ms. Wang Honghua, and Ms. Ma Juan were taken into custody. They have been unlawfully held at the Weifang Detention Center for almost a year. It was reported that the three practitioners recently have been unlawfully sentenced to prison. Mr. Liu is to serve twelve years, Ms. Wang four and a half years, and Ms. Ma five years.
32. [Wangqing County, Jilin Province] Ms. Zheng Lijun and Other Practitioners Taken to Brainwashing Center
On October 12, 2007, Wangqing County police forcibly took practitioners Ms. Zheng Lijun, Mr. Lin Jiping, Ms. Chen Guifen and her husband, and Ms. Li Xiufen into custody. The practitioners are being held in a brainwashing center.
