The common saying, "Good and evil shall meet with due retribution is a Heavenly principle," is certainly true from what has happened in Bazhou City, Hebei Province, the last several years.

Utterly Disgraced - A Police Officer Died Suddenly in His Mistress' Bed

Officer Liu Shuancheng of the Nanmeng Township Police Station had been a loyal follower of the Jiang regime and went all out in the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. He stood ready day or night to carry out surveillance, investigations, and house searches on practitioners in his area. Sometimes he patrolled the streets, sometimes he circled around practitioners' homes, and sometimes he even scaled the walls into the backyards of practitioners' homes at night. He also parked himself in dark corners or on the roofs of practitioners' homes. After the persecution started until the end of 2001, he made a nuisance of himself in the village almost on a daily basis, rain or shine, day or night, sometimes in the same village three times in a day. He also often collaborated with Police Chief Feng Mengsheng of the Nanmeng Police Station to illegally arrest Falun Gong practitioners in different villages and search their homes. On November 23, 2001, Liu Shuancheng, Cui Zeqing (Assistant Chief of Nanmeng Police Station), Liu Dongfang (from the Public Security Bureau in Bazhou City), and others went to a village and arrested a number of Falun Gong practitioners. Not long after this operation, on the night before December 8 of the traditional lunar calendar, Liu Shuancheng went to the home of his mistress--while her husband worked the night shift--and died suddenly in her bed, utterly disgracing his name and reputation.

The End of an Informant

Mr. Huang, in his 40's, was a resident of Bazhou City. When the Jiang regime began to persecute Falun Gong, he offered to be a police informant for the petty reward money. He offered to carry out covert surveillance of Falun Gong practitioners. If he saw practitioners chatting with acquaintances on their way to the farm, he would report this to his accomplice, another police informant in the village, who would call for the police to interrogate or harass the practitioner. Huang was particularly assiduous with this assignment, and he monitored practitioners day and night. Every time he made a report, it could mean serious trouble for those he spied on. Even the regular villagers were annoyed and disturbed by him. Once, five practitioners were arrested and detained for two weeks at the Bazhou City Public Security Bureau because of his report. Each practitioner was also fined 200 yuan. In June 2001, Huang died suddenly of unknown causes, and his two teenage daughters were left with no one to take care of them. Before his demise, he went into shock a number of times, but the hospital could find nothing abnormal. He totally ignored the warning signs, showed no remorse, and continued his evildoings.

A Village Official Persecuted Dafa

Mr. Chen was a village official in the Bazhou City area. He enthusiastically participated in the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in his village after July 20, 1999. He carried out surveillance and went through each household to confiscate Falun Gong books. For those who refused to hand over the books, he would use the dogged tactic of going to that household everyday and sitting on the bed until they surrendered the books. All the Falun Gong books he confiscated were destroyed. The local police station sent four men to monitor the local practitioners and let him be the leader of the group. Everybody else knew that practitioners were good citizens and no one wanted to take on this role, yet he embraced this job as if it were an imperial decree. He was so dedicated to the "job" that he was always mindful of the slightest lapse. These four men took turns day and night, with him supervising them personally. No one in the group could get off duty until the next shift arrived. One evening there was a light drizzle. They were outside the home of a practitioner who overheard them chatting. The practitioner took some padded cushions for them to sit on and took the opportunity to clarify the facts to them. The person in that shift listened attentively, but Mr. Chen did not and slandered the founder of Falun Gong. Not long after, he was removed from his position as a village official, and he also met with retribution. In 2001 a fire started mysteriously while his wife was cooking. The fire destroyed all their new comforters, sheets, and quilts on the bed, as well as all the family's new clothes. Worst yet, all their cash was burned to ashes. On January 7, 2002, he and four others went to visit relatives and their vehicle was hit by a car without a license plate. The other car drove off, but Mr. Chen's arm was broken, and his wife's face was covered with blood. No one else in the vehicle suffered any injury. He ended up having to pay for all the medical expenses himself.
