(Clearwisdom.net) Five officials including Li Guodong, head of the West Xindian Police Department, Police Chief Zhao Yongli and police officer Yang Zhuping illegally arrested Falun Dafa practitioners Wang Shuiyong and Cui Zhanxiang. The practitioners, from Botou City, Cangzhou, Hebei Province, were on motorcycles. The persecutors took the two practitioners to the Botou City Detention Center. Tong Xianlong, deputy head detention center, personally tortured Wang Shuiyong. Mr. Wang now suffers severe illness and his life is in danger. Botou City police and officials from the detention center not only refused to release him, they fabricated charges and are trying to sentence Wang Shuiyong to prison. Below is a statement from Wang Shuiyong’s daughter that exposes the persecution of her father.

My adoptive father Wang Shuiyong is a very kind farmer from Nanlu Village, Xindian Township, Botou City, Hebei Province. Officers from West Xindian Police Department unlawfully arrested him on May 9, 2006, and our home was ransacked. He has been held at the Botou Detention Center and is right now suffering from severe persecution. Deputy detention center head Tong Xianlong, my father’s cousin, is the main person responsible for the persecution. Tong Xianlong lives in Lianghepu Village, West Xindian Township.

When my father was first taken to the detention center, my mother and I went to Tong Xianlong and asked him to help release my father. He said, "I can’t release him so easily, I have to fix him for good." I kindly told him that my father has never committed any crimes. Instead of replying to me civilly he scolded me and told me not to get involved.

Tong Xianlong knows that my mother is uneducated and is easy to deceive. He promised to help us as he is our relative, but he extorted money from us. Behind our back, however, he ordered five inmates to savagely beat my father for two nights. He locked my father up with death row inmates and tortured my father in various ways. They forbade my father to sleep. His food consisted of two small buns, each weighing less than 1 liang [1.7 ounces]. They didn’t let him drink even cold water and made him work day and night. They forced him to make between 8,000 and 10,000 matchboxes per day. They wouldn’t let him eat if he didn’t finish the assigned work, and continued to torture him.

After my father had been illegally detained for one month, I went to see Tong Xianlong at the detention center and asked to see my father, but he refused my request. I heard an inmate who was held in the same cell with my father saying, "Wang Shuiyong has been wrecked by those [officials]! You couldn't bear to look at him now!" Tong Xianlong not only refused to help us, but he went to other relatives and spread vicious rumors about my father, to make excuses for his persecution.

My father had already been taken to the detention center several years ago. Tong Xianlong extorted 6,000 yuan from us then. This time, my younger sister called Tong Xianlong and asked him to help. Tong Xianlong said, "Bring me the money!"

Tong Xianlong called my mother early next morning and told her to bring 6,000 yuan and he would release my father. After he got the money, however, he warned my mother not to tell anyone about giving him money and he told her to go home and wait. He also extorted "gifts" worth about 1,000 yuan from me, but he did nothing to help my father.

Later, Tong Xianlong said the Procuratorate had issued an arrest warrant for my father and that there was nothing he could do. My mother and I went to the Procuratorate to verify the facts. We found out that the Procuratorate had never received my father’s case. Tong Xianlong had always told us that the case was about to be delivered to the Procuratorate, while in fact he was scheming with several officers at the Botou City Police Department in an attempt to fabricate charges against my father.

My mother and I begged Tong Xianlong repeatedly, hoping to see my father, but he made up all manner of excuses. When we eventually saw my father he was skin and bones and was delirious. His stomach was covered with open sores. I anxiously asked Tong Xianlong when the release would be approved. He said he was working on it and that we should wait at home. We had not heard anything from him after more than 80 days. In fact, my father’s case never reached the Procuratorate.

I said to Tong Xianlong that if the Procuratorate had received my father’s case and approved it, we would have gotten a notice from the Procuratorate one week ago.

About one week after this conversation, my mother received two notices issued by the police department on July 12. The first one is a notice of detention, and the other one is an arrest notice. Looking at the envelope, it shows they were both issued on July 12. The notice says the Procuratorate approved my father’s arrest on June 5 and they were assigned to carry out the arrest; and yet, only the police department’s stamp was on the notice. There was no name; no name was given for the line of signature of the person who issued the notice. They didn’t fill out the column that reads, "Please write down the reason if family of the arrested was not notified within 24 hours." I asked Tong Xianlong for an explanation, but he avoided the issue.

We strongly demanded a meeting with my father after receiving the two notices, but Tong Xianlong firmly refused to comply with our request. I asked someone else to plead with him. Then he reluctantly allowed us to see my father. My father was emaciated and starving. He was on the brink of death. He is stooped over and can barely walk. He cried and told us about the tortures he had suffered. He was now afflicted with all kinds of illnesses, although Dafa practice had made him very healthy. My mother had deposited 600 yuan at the detention center for my father, and yet he didn’t get any food or anything else for this money, nor did he receive the money himself. The officials confiscated all the high-quality food we brought for him. My father cried and asked us to quickly get him out.

I confronted Tong Xianlong, "Why did you starve my father? Don’t you have any sympathy for him, being his cousin?" He screamed at me, "Shut up about it! Does he expect to eat when he hasn’t finished his work? That’s the rule! I didn’t invite him over here." [Note: Chinese laws clearly state that detainees in custody centers and detention centers can work voluntarily and they would receive compensation for their work. No law says a detainee is not allowed to eat without working.]

The officials at the Botou Detention Center deprive people of their rights. Tong Xianlong is notoriously cruel.

The day after we saw my father, someone told my mother that my father had been badly persecuted. He is suffering from necrotic periostitis, high blood sugar and many other illnesses, and his life is in danger. When we questioned Tong Xianlong, he still lied to us and said my father had a small boil removed through minor surgery, and said there is nothing wrong with him. He said my father is allowed to eat and he is no longer required to work. He never told any member of our family about the surgery before or after the day it supposedly took place. He denied the truth when we showed him my father’s medical records. We confronted him many times before he finally admitted that my father is suffering from serious illness.

My mother and I confirmed my father’s condition. We went to the police department and demanded my father's unconditional release. The police constantly watched and followed us, and yet they refused to meet with us at the police department. They finally came out at 12 noon because they could no longer avoid us. We went to Wang Haitao, deputy head of the police department who is in charge; yet he threw us out of his office saying he needed to answer a phone call. We went back to him stating my father's serious condition and reiterated his innocence. The Nanlu Township Village Office had written a letter saying, "Wang Shuiyong is a simple and kind peasant. He has never done anything bad in all these years, especially after he started to practice Falun Gong. We hope the high-level government officials will release him unconditionally!"

Wang Haitao pounded on the table and screamed for me to get out. He verbally abused my mother and me and shouted, "Do you know where you are? Do you know anything about the law?" I answered, "Everyone is equal before the law!" He pointed his finger at my nose and said, "What the police department says is the law!" He also said one is forbidden to meet with family, even if the family member dies in [the detention center]. He also tried to find out how we discovered my father’s condition and [wanted to] persecute us. He shouted for Ding Xiuling, Zong Hongfeng and others to threaten and intimidate my mother and me, and they kicked us out.

It’s a fact that my father is innocent. It is also true that his condition requires hospitalization, and yet the Botou Police Department and detention center officials refuse to release him and prevent my father from getting much needed hospital care. They won’t let us see him, because they are afraid of their crimes being exposed again.

My father is in an urgent situation!

Tong Xianlong, deputy head of the detention center, Wang Haitao, deputy head of the police department, Zhao Dongsheng, head of the National Security Division and police officer Zong Hongfeng are the main officials responsible for my father's persecution. Kind-hearted people, please condemn these atrocities!
