(Clearwisdom.net) On July 4, 2006, the largest Independence Day Parade of Northern California took place in Redwood City. Falun Gong was invited to participate, and The Falun Gong procession won praise from organizers and the audience with its large number of participants, elegant dances, peaceful exercise demonstration and festive waist drum performance. The organizers said that they would invite Falun Gong again next year.

Organizer and former President of the Peninsula Celebration Association Paul Sanfilipo said that the Falun Gong group has participated in the parade for six years. He said that the group displays beautiful Chinese traditional culture, and is well-liked by the audience. He went on to say that they appreciate Falun Gong's participation and will invite them again next year.

The organizers set up nine stations to introduce the parading groups. The host introduced Falun Gong as a meditation exercise that purifies mind and body. The organizer also expressed appreciation for the practitioners' performances.

Eileen from San Francisco came to the city of Redwood to watch the parade for the first time. She said that she was very impressed with the Falun Gong procession, especially the "Heavenly Maiden Dance."
The Redwood Independence Day Parade has 67 years of history. This year, over 500 groups participated in the parade and there were about 200,000 to 300,000 spectators. This is the largest Independence Day parade in Northern California.
