(Clearwisdom.net) In order to expose the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) atrocities of organ removal from living Falun Gong practitioners to governments and media worldwide, on the afternoon of July 29, 2006, five thousand Falun Gong practitioners in Taiwan held an event in Taichung City. The theme of the event was "I just don't believe their consciences are irretrievably lost -- condemning the CCP's live organ removal to governments and media worldwide." The host organization said that the purpose of the event was to awaken Chinese people deceived by the CCP in the hopes that they would not participate in the persecution of Falun Gong for temporary interests. The event was also to convey the facts of the persecution of Falun Gong to governments across the world, the international community and media, in order to raise awareness of the inhuman persecution taking place in China.

In March this year, a witness disclosed that the CCP conducted organ removal from living Falun Gong practitioners. Later, David Matas, international human rights lawyer, and David Kilgour, former Secretary of State (Asia-Pacific) for Canada, formed an independent investigation team. After a two-month investigation, they released their report to the media on July 6, 2006: "Report into Allegations of Organ Harvesting of Falun Gong Practitioners in China." The report pointed out, "Based on what we now know, we have come to the regrettable conclusion that the allegations are true. We believe that there has been and continues today to be large scale organ seizures from unwilling Falun Gong practitioners."

To support fellow Falun Gong practitioners being persecuted in mainland China, practitioners in Taiwan conducted a 24-hour hunger strike from 8:00 p.m. on July 28 to 8:00 p.m. on July 29. They also gathered at 3:00 p.m. in Taichung City and held the event, "I just don't believe their consciences are irretrievably lost -- condemning the CCP's live organ removal to governments and media worldwide."

Speakers for the event included Chang Ching-his, director of the Falun Dafa Association of Taiwan, Tseng Chao-jung, member of the Taichung City Council, Yang Jung-shun, Taichung Branch of Democratic Progressive Party and Ku Chin-nan, Presiding Judge of the Taichung Division Court.

Mr. Tseng Chao-jung, member of Taichung City Council, admired the practitioners' consistency in protesting the persecution. He said there were 35 legislative committee members to co-sign a letter condemning the CCP's crimes against humanity.

Mr. Chang said that the brutality of the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners was beyond our imagination. In March, the Epoch Times newspaper exposed the trade in Falun Gong practitioners' organs in Sujiatun Concentration Camp. Soon after, someone pointed out that Sujiatun Concentration Camp was just one of the 36 camps across China where Falun Gong practitioners are held in order to have their organs harvested. On July 6, the Canadian independent investigation team released their report confirming the allegation.

Mr. Ku Chin-nan, Presiding Judge of the Taichung Division Court, pointed out that the source of organs in large numbers of organ transplants in China are unclear, since the CCP started the persecution of Falun Gong

Mr. Ku Chin-nan, Presiding Judge of Taichung Division Court, read out an excerpt from the Canadian investigation report, "Presumably the identified sources of organ transplants which produced 18,500 organ transplants in the six year period 1994 to 1999 produced the same number of organs for transplants in the next six year period 2000 to 2005. That means that the source of 41,500 transplants for the six year period 2000 to 2005 is unexplained."

Director Chang of the local office of Huang Ying-chieh, human rights lawyer and member of the Taichung City Council, attended the event from 4:00 p.m. until the end. He said he attended the commemoration event on July 20 and was moved. Such a good practice is being persecuted in China, but across the world, everyone can practice it freely. He noted that in this year's event, practitioners once again used peaceful means to get the attention of the international community, urging them to exert pressure on the CCP to return the free practice environment to Falun Gong practitioners in China.

A couple came to the event venue one day early. They started practicing Falun Gong a year ago. Their family members supported their participation in this event after learning the facts about the persecution. The couple are active in helping more people know the facts and condemn the CCP's persecution.

Practitioner Mr. Hou is a teacher in a university. He exposed the CCP atrocities of live organ removal to his students and colleagues during after-school hours.

During the event, some local residents asked for more information about the CCP's organ removal from living people. A couple said they would tell the news to their friends and relatives and especially remind one of his friends to make sure of the source of the organ when going to China for organ transplant surgery. However, it would be best not to go to China for organ transplants.

The event began with the dance, "Eliminating the Evil" and a reenactment play about the organ harvesting in China. The one-kilometer-long exercise demonstration conveyed the grace of Falun Dafa to the local residents. In the evening, a candlelight vigil was held and the host organization invited the local people to "sit by my side," to awaken the conscience of the world's people and help stop the persecution.
