(Clearwisdom.net) Christmas is around the corner, and the people in Leipzig are busy shopping in preparation. On November 25, 2006, the gloomy weather didn’t affect people’s passion for shopping. In particular, the bustling shopping area in the city center was crowded with busy people. Falun Dafa practitioners set up an information booth to present residents in Leipzig with a valuable Christmas gift.
Practitioners prepared some folded paper lotus flowers and greeting cards with a painting of pink lotus flower buds. All these gifts were given to visitors along with leaflets which ushered in hopes of spring in this gloomy winter.
In line with the campaign appealing to rescue Ms. Wang Xiaoyan, wife of Falun Gong practitioner Zhang Zhentong in Leipzig, who was illegally incarcerated by the Chinese Communist regime, a huge display board was set up there. As soon as the display board was hung up, it attracted many people’s attention. When a practitioner approached an older person who walked up to the front of the display board, the older person asked, "Are the atrocities still going on now?" The practitioner replied that not only is the inhuman persecution taking place at present, but the persecuted woman on the display board is the wife of the man standing next to him. The older man burst into tears while murmuring, "It is really despicable and inhuman." He sobbed and murmured the words repeatedly. He also signed the petition. Moved by the older man’s compassion, the practitioners gave him a gift along with a Christmas card. With a paper folded lotus flower and a greeting card with best wishes, the man walked away.
What’s even better is that rather than being timid or swearing at us, many people from China stopped to listen to practitioners’ explanation of the facts about the persecution, and they were willing to accept Chinese information materials, saying that they would like to read them after returning home. Some of them even asked for leaflets themselves.
Dressed in unconventional clothing, a group of young people carrying a CD player playing heavy rock music walked up to practitioners who were practicing the meditation exercise. Perhaps shocked by the cruel persecution shown on the display board or moved by the peaceful music, they not only turned off the CD player, but they also helped distribute leaflets to passersby. Though the place opposite the information booth was where they used to get together for fun, they sat there peacefully to read the information without making any disturbance. Only after the activity came to an end, did we hear rock music again.
The festival period is when people miss their family members and relatives even more. However, when we get together with our family members or relatives to enjoy the happy hours during a festival, it is hard for us to imagine the feeling of the Falun Gong practitioners being cruelly tortured, and their family members. To put an end to this inhuman persecution, all the leaflets, pamphlets and gifts carried the message about the persecution and thoughts of compassion in the world. They have aroused human consciences and will usher in new hope for people in the future.
