(Clearwisdom.net) This young practitioner is only four years old, and he attends kindergarten. This July he started to live with his grandma and began to cultivate. In the past, Grandma was afraid his presence would interfere with her cultivation, so they did not live together. After the young boy came to live with her, however, he not only has not interfered with her cultivation, but also helps her and urges her to be more diligent. Everyday he asks his grandma to study the Fa with him and asks if they could do the exercises together and send forth righteous thoughts together. Both his grandma and fellow practitioners are very impressed by this.
Everyday after finishing his homework, the young practitioner asks his grandma to study the Fa, saying, "Grandma, let's study the Fa together. Do you want to return home following Teacher? Me too! We have to study the Fa, otherwise, we cannot return home following Teacher." They study one lecture of Zhuan Falun everyday. He gets very upset and won't go to bed until they finish a lecture, even when it is 10 or 11 o'clock at night. He is not happy unless Grandma reads Dafa to him. When she does, he is very excited, saying, "Veteran practitioners need to read Dafa for young disciples. Veteran practitioners need to lead young disciples back home. We will all return home following Teacher."
Sometimes when grandma gets busy and is unable to read Dafa to him, the young boy said, "Grandma, please read the Fa to me. Grandma, please play Teacher's lecture tape for me. I cannot live without the Fa." One day Grandma was busy with household chores until past 9 p.m. She did not want to deprive her grandson of sleep, so she said, "You can go to bed now, and we will read tomorrow." The young practitioner did not agree, and said, "You can have ice cream, and then you will not feel sleepy. Please do not sleep. Please read the Fa for me. I can hear the Fa even if I go to sleep." Grandma lay in bed tired and sleepy. Seeing that she was not going to sit up, the boy tried to amuse her and help her to sit up. When she still did not sit up, he was very upset: "Grandma, you're being lazy. You are going to return home, aren't you? What if Teacher does not take us [if we are lazy]?"
One day, Grandma and he were studying Lecture 4 of Zhuan Falun. When there were two pages left, Grandma was too sleepy to continue, saying, "We can stop here today and finish tomorrow. It is time for you to go to bed." Her grandson did not agree and said, "You have not finished reading yet, please finish it. Without the Fa-study, we cannot improve and cannot follow Teacher to return home. Please read!" Grandma did not read, so he continued to try to convince her. Finally Grandma finished reading the two pages.
When studying the Fa, the young practitioner is always very quiet and sometimes asks questions such as "What does this sentence mean?" and "What does that sentence mean?" During the sitting meditation and sending forth righteous thoughts, the young boy holds both hands in front of him (jie yin), with his eyes slightly closed. He sits in the full lotus position with his back straight, not saying a word. Seeing his serious attitude and solemn expression, Grandma is impressed, "What a lovely young disciple!"
Teacher said, "The Fa saves predestined people." (Falun Buddha Fa--Lecture at the First Conference in North America) This young disciple's righteous behavior is due to Teacher and the Fa. It is very fortunate that the young practitioner can live with his grandma so that he can start to cultivate as well as can urge his grandma to be diligent, reach consummation, and return home.
We practitioners are very impressed by this young disciple's firm belief in Teacher and the Fa, as well as his perseverance in cultivation. We should all do better.
