(Clearwisdom.net) Mr. Qiu Guisheng was illegally sentenced to six years in prison, where he suffered from severe torture. Mr. Qiu Guisheng had benefited greatly from practicing Falun Gong, and on June 30, 2001, as he was distributing truth clarification material and talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong, he was arrested by police officers from the Gejia Police Station and Liu Guang from the Public Security Department in Liuyang City, Hunan Province. The policemen, who did not follow proper procedures, searched his home and confiscated his motorcycle and his business accounting books. He was taken to the public security department and was not allowed to sleep for four days. He was beaten to the point of being severely injured. The policemen even claimed openly that they were going to cripple him. Subsequently, Mr. Qiu was illegally sentenced to six years in prison. He was sent to the Second Detention Center in Changsha for three years, and was later transferred to Wangling Jail in You County.

Because Qiu Guisheng was steadfast in his belief and resisted the persecution, the jail guards ordered drug addict inmates to scald him with hot boiling water and to beat him, causing numbness on the right side of his body from head to toe. They refused to show him the letters his family sent to him. His family repeatedly requested that the Liuyang City 610 Office release him, but they never responded. The head of the jail did not allow any family visits, and no one knows whether he is dead or alive. His family members are extremely worried.

Luo Chunhua Died as a Result of Torture

At around 11:00 p.m. on July 4, 2001, Ms. Luo Chunhua, a Falun Dafa practitioner, was arrested by officers from the Huaichuan Police Station for distributing truth clarification materials. She was interrogated throughout the evening and was not allowed to sleep. At nine o'clock the next day, they tied her hands behind her back on the chair and continued to interrogate her. They would not let her go afterwards, and forced her under the chair and cuffed her onto the legs of the chair, not allowing her to move one bit. One of them punched her and knocked her unconscious. Then they pulled her up and punched her in the back. They did not give her lunch. She was detained at the lock up facility, waiting to be sentenced.

Four to five months later, she started coughing badly and was sent to the Changsha Women's Jail around Chinese New Year. During a physical examination, they found that she was suffering from severe lung perforation. The jail did not accept her and sent her back to the lock-up facility. After her return to Liuyang City, she asked to be bailed out to seek medical treatment, but the policemen and the 610 Office refused, and demanded that she write the three statements renouncing Falun Gong. Because Luo Chunhua persisted in her belief in Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance, they refused to release her. They detained her for another two months, until she was in very bad shape. They finally allowed her to go home when her family wrote a so-called "guarantee letter." After she went home, they sought medical treatment but to no avail. She passed away at the age of thirty-five.
