Facts of the Persecution

1. More Than 50 Female Practitioners Still in Taihang Prison

Falun Dafa practitioners held in the Taihang Prison in Hebei Province are being subjected to prolonged torture. Methods of torture include being locked in the small cell (1), handcuffed behind the back, shocked with electric batons, forced to stand facing the wall, deprived of sleep, beaten brutally, and other vicious, inhuman practices. The prison guards attempt to destroy practitioners' firm faith by torturing them mentally and physically. There are still more than 50 female Falun Dafa practitioners held at the prison. One of them is Ms. Liu Jinying, in her thirties, from Shijiazhuang City. She is suffering a mental collapse from being tortured in the small cell, having her hands cuffed behind her back, shocked with electric batons, and brutal beatings.

(1) In the "small cell" torture, the detainee is locked alone in a very small cell. The guards handcuff the victim behind his or her back in a fixed position, in which the practitioners can neither move nor lie down. The small cell is very damp with minimal lighting. Detainees must urinate and defecate in the cell. Only half a regular meal is served to detainees locked in a small cell during the daytime. During the night, rats move freely through the cells. The stench is so bad that it is difficult to breathe.
