I used to think that China was open to the whole world since it has been opening its market to the world and doing economic reforms. However, I found that on its way to the world community, there is a filter. The filter has been blocking out pornographic messages as well as information and news that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) believes to be dangerous to its authority.

During the last winter recess, we went on a tour of South Korea. South Korea doesn't have such an information blockage. We got a newspaper that was in Chinese. It had some articles that would be considered anti-authority if they were published in China. After reading those articles carefully, I concluded that they were very good articles with clear logic. One of the articles is entitled, "The Chinese Communist Party's Banning of Falun Gong is Another Version of the Cultural Revolution." It talks about Falun Gong teaching people to be good and kind and the self-immolation incident was actually staged by the CCP. Those people in that incident were not real Falun Gong practitioners. Some of them were paid to attend the show.

Liu Siying, the elementary school student, did not die of burns from the fire, but was murdered. The burns that she sustained were not as serious as others. She should have had a better chance to get well.Instead, she died. That's because she's a kid and the people who staged the incident were afraid that she would let the truth out. The article made me think about what I read and heard about the incident since I watched some news reports about this on TV in China. I remember that the original reports said those people set themselves on fire to "reach consummation." However, the recent reports said they did so to "safeguard the Fa." Also, the doctors who treated Liu Siying said during the interview that Liu had a throat operation and therefore she wouldn't be able to talk normally. However, when the reporter interviewed Liu Siying, her voice was very clear.

There are some other articles in that newspaper talking about the lawsuits in Europe and America against Jiang and some other CCP leaders for their persecution of Falun Gong. Jiang tried to have opposing voices abroad oppressed by resorting to economic and political tactics. However, in many countries outside China, many people participated in parades and held up "SOS" signs to uphold justice for Falun Gong. Many officials in other countries requested that China reinstate Falun Gong's reputation. All of this shows that Falun Gong is a belief system, not an organization with political pursuits.

I was shocked when I read these articles. The sources of these news reports are mainstream media. However, I didn't see any news like this inside China. It's obvious that they have been filtered out. That's likely the true reason that we are unable to receive radio or TV signals from abroad. I think it is because the CCP and its leaders are afraid to let the Chinese people know the truth. They are afraid that with free access to information, the Chinese people would no longer believe in their propaganda such as "The CCP is always right" and they would lose their power. When I watched TV before, I simply believed what I heard. I would agree something is good if the TV program said so. I would criticize it if the TV program said it was bad. I never thought about it on my own. I just followed the propaganda and took in what other people told me since I believed the media inside China.

I know in my heart that the articles I read are true. I now believe that Falun Gong is innocent. However, many Chinese people are still deceived and don't know the truth. They might do imprudent things against Falun Gong since they are taken advantage of to become the CCP's tools to maintain its dictatorship. From the vicious propaganda against Falun Gong, I can tell they were trying to cover up the truth and to deceive people who don't really know the true story of Falun Gong. Behind the scenes, how many people have died from the persecution! Chinese people are in pain. However, those politicians don't care. Who tortured those practitioners to death? It is a fact that policemen in forced labor camps mistreated and tortured those practitioners who refused to be "reformed."

I hope the current horrible situation can change as soon as possible. I hope Falun Gong can reclaim its noble reputation.

Is your information access still blocked? If so, you should try your best to bypass that filter and find a way to get free access to true information.

Notes from the person who submitted this article:

I am a Falun Dafa practitioner. I served a year and a half imprisonment at a forced labor camp simply because I refused to write the so-called repentance letters to give up practicing Falun Gong. My daughter is a high school senior. She was deceived by the CCP's malicious propaganda via TV and other media. Over the past Chinese New Year holiday, I took my daughter to South Korea. She read a Chinese newspaper published in South Korea. After that, her attitude towards Falun Gong changed. The above is one of her essays.
