At the Pi County Detention Center

At the end of November, we were transferred to the Pi County Detention Center, located in Chengdu City.

We were told to get up at 3 a.m. in the morning and gather our personal belongings. Around 4 a.m. we were handcuffed together in pairs. We were told that all practitioners detained in the Longquanyi Detention Center were to be transferred. Outside the gate, there were many guards and armed policemen blocking the streets; a long line of public buses and police vehicles were lined up. We were then pushed onto a bus. We could see that many prisoners and practitioners had filled the buses in front of ours. There was a line of armed policemen along the street to prevent anyone from escaping. It was clear that we were part of a very long convoy of buses, police vehicles and other vehicles. There was absolutely no traffic in our way, because policemen blocked each intersection we passed through.

As soon as we reached the Pi County Detention Center, the policemen lead us along a long hall where there were many cell blocks on each side. Each cell block has 24 cells, 12 on each floor, and each cell could hold 20 to 30 prisoners. We heard a prisoner say that this detention center cost more than two hundred million yuan (US $24,000,000) to build.

Almost Beaten to Death for Refusing to Number Off

At the second evening cell check, the guards had other prisoners drag us practitioners to the head count muster, and we all refused to go. After we were all asleep that night, two female guards and one male guard rushed into our cell and started to handcuff us. The male guards ordered prisoners, "Get up and get moving!" A group of prisoners quickly got up and threw our blankets aside, dragged Tao Juhua out of bed first, and asked her, "Do you want to be handcuffed?" Ms. Tao answered, "No!" A group of prisoners then dragged Zhao Xiangrong, and attempted to forcibly handcuff her. We all refused to be handcuffed. One guard and several prisoners then grabbed Ms. Tao's hair, and beat her brutally. The male guard dragged Zhao Xiangrong down to the floor from her bed, punched her face violently, then mercilessly restrained her by stepping on her face. Another group of prisoners forced me to the floor and forcibly handcuffed me.

That night, Ms. Tao, Ms. Zhao and I were forced to sit on the bed boards without blankets, freezing in the cold. Ms. Tao's hair had been pulled out in handfuls. Although we were handcuffed, we still refused to participate in the prisoners' head count. We sat together, recited the Fa, and sent forth righteous thoughts. Ms. Tao and Ms. Zhao were taking care of me, because I had scabies all over my body. I could not fall asleep due to the discomfort. They remained with me and helped me by sending forth righteous thoughts, to reduce my suffering.

About a week later, the cell door opened. A female guard named Zhao shouted, "No. 3 no-name person, gather your belongings (we never reported our names to them)." Ms. Zhao was transferred to a cell on the upper floor. We could hear Zhao Xiangrong and Zhu Yinfang recite the Fa loudly from the upper floor (we did not know that we should just recite it in our minds). Tao Juhua and I had been sending forth righteous thoughts also. Guard Li (male, his father was the director of this detention center) called cell leader Xu Qing, a female prisoner, and instructed her on how to torture us. Xu Qing grabbed rags that were used for cleaning the toilets and stuffed them into our mouths. They rushed onto our beds while we were sending forth righteous thoughts. I moved in front of Ms. Tao to protect her. A prisoner came from the side and dragged Ms. Tao away from me, and then whipped her head with a plastic hanger. Another group of prisoners came and threw Ms. Tao down to the floor, and kicked her violently. She was surrounded by them, then got away, but was beaten down again. Prisoners wearing leather boots kicked her lower back and belly violently. The cell leader, Xu Qing, and another tall prisoner forced me down. Because both Ms. Tao and I were handcuffed, the handcuffs cut into our flesh, and became tighter and tighter. I tried so hard to get rid of the two on top of me, and pulled two prisoners off of Ms. Tao. The prisoners then forced me onto the bed, threw Ms. Tao by her hair down to the floor again, and kicked her very cruelly. Ms. Tao broke through them, screamed with pain, and then started to fall to the floor.

I used all my strength to run and catch her, as she fell down on my handcuffs. I shouted, "Stop beating her!" They ended the violence. I moved Ms. Tao's body gently and held her against my chest. Her face was so pale, and then she started vomiting. There were egg sized bruises on her head from the kicking; her left elbow was missing a large piece of flesh and her body was covered with wounds. I cannot describe my feeling at that time; tears poured down my cheeks.

Ms. Tao passed out. I said to her in my heart, Juhua, you cannot die, you must get through this! With tears streaming down my cheeks, I recited Master's words from "Fa-Rectification Period Dafa Disciples," as well as his teaching,

"This is not the first time in the course of the degenerating history that evil forces have persecuted cultivators. Isn't this a recurrence of what Jesus experienced in his day? Didn't Buddha Sakyamuni experience this, too?" ("Path")

After a long while, Ms. Tao opened her eyes slightly, and said to me quietly, "Don't be sad." Then she closed her eyes tightly.

That night three female guards came to check the cells, I told them, "A Falun Dafa disciple has been beaten and wounded badly." They pretended not to hear me at all. I then shouted to them, "A Falun Dafa disciple has been beaten and wounded badly!" They did not even turn their heads. After many practitioners strongly requested, they finally took Ms. Tao's handcuffs off. Ms. Tao was in bed five whole days without eating or drinking a single drop of water. She started to drink a little bit of water on the sixth day. After that experience, the villains stopped asking Ms. Tao and I to join the head count. Guard Du said, "Don't bother with these two Falun Gong practitioners, beating won't work for them."

One day around 9 a.m., the electronic cell door opened, and the guard shouted that Ms. Tao and I should be interrogated. Because Tao Juhua was still very weak, she could not walk, and we did not want to go. After a while, I saw Zhu Yinfang from the upper floor cell. She told me, "We should request that they release us." I told her that Tao Juhua was still very weak from being beaten; and she said, "Let's help her get over this." I helped Ms. Tao move out of our cell, then immediately saw Ms. Zhao Xiangrong, who was squatting on the floor shackled in the "dragon holding the column" position. In this torture, both hands are handcuffed around one leg. The shackles have three heavy metal weights. Being shackled in this way makes one unable to stand straight, and one is completely out of balance. (See illustration at: http://www.clearwisdom.net/emh/articles/2004/10/11/53360.html)

When Ms. Zhao saw we were all there; she started moving herself with difficulty towards the interrogation building. The female guard was following us quietly. Zhu Yinfang said, "These two ladies have been tortured until they are in this condition, and I was severely beaten also." Ms. Zhu's lips still carry the wounds from the beating. No one said a word, only the heavy weights on Ms. Zhao's shackles made a loud noise as she moved along. It was very difficult for Ms. Zhao to move around; she needed a rest to catch her breath. Ms. Zhu said with a heavy heart, "You see her hair was pulled out from large areas of her scalp."

At this time, we discovered that some areas of red skin appeared on Ms. Zhao's head. She was wearing soaking wet clothes and shoes without socks. When she talked and raised her head, we noticed that her face was very swollen, as were her hands and feet. She told us after she was transferred to the cell on the upper floor, that the guards encouraged the prisoners to brutally beat her, in order to stop her from sending forth righteous thoughts or doing the exercises. She was later locked in a cell downstairs during the night, where prisoners sentenced to short terms were detained. The guards told the prisoners to restrain her and put the "Dragon holding the column" shackles on her. They also taped her mouth with yellow packing tape around her head. Then, they started taking turns kicking and beating her, then they trampled her. Zhao Xiangrong said, "If my head were a ball, it would have exploded."

After all those prisoners were too tired to beat her any longer, they started to pour cold water on her slowly. Her whole body was soaked all the way to the skin. She could not change her clothes because of the shackles and handcuffs. She had been in cold wet clothes for three days. That female guard urged Ms. Zhao to keep moving. We begged her take that torture device off, but she replied that she did not have the key. My heart was broken seeing Zhao Xiangrong hardly able to move an inch. We could not carry her, because of her shackles and the three heavy weights attached to them.

It took us more than 50 minutes to walk through that long hallway. We were interrogated in four separated rooms. We strongly requested that the detention center release us, since we were innocent of any crime. We "clarified the truth", and told the detention center personnel how many tortures we had endured, but to no avail; we were taken back to our cell.

Elderly Practitioners in Their Sixties Went on a Hunger Strike

The Dafa practitioners who were newly jailed had to call out their cell numbers together with the regular prisoners. If the practitioners did not obey, the guards would order the the prisoners to drag them to the middle of the prisoners and sit among them. Zhang Kunxiu, a 60-year-old practitioner from Chengdu Seamless Steel Tube Factory, and Wang Gongli from the No. 2 Railway Bureau were dragged cruelly by the prisoners. Zhang Kunxiu was pressed to the ground and was choked for a long time. The police also dragged her towards the prisoners. Tang Ying from Jianshe Road, Chengdu City was on a hunger strike for over ten days to protest the illegal detention and the abuse. She was physically so feeble that she could hardly stand, and she was reduced to skin and bone. The prisoners also dragged her out to force-feed her. Seven or eight prisoners held her down and force-fed her with a spoon. She refused to open her mouth. The prisoners actually stood on her stomach. Every time after she was force-fed and taken back to the cell, her body was covered with porridge and water. Tang Ying had difficulty speaking, and left in the hands of the guards, she was tortured at will. In the afternoon of December 31, Tang Ying's life was in great danger. When the prison doctor came over to giver her medical check-up, her pulse was very, very weak and her blood pressure was not detectable. The labor camp immediately released Tang Ying.

In order to stop the police from making the prisoners torture practitioners inhumanly, six practitioners in our cell started a hunger strike together. On the following day, police ordered the prisoners to drag us out one after another and force-feed us. When it came to my turn, the prisoners dragged me to the ground outside of our cell. Seven or eight prisoners pressed their weight over my head, chocked me and restrained my hands and legs. The prison doctor, whose last name was Fu (female), force-fed a tube into my nose. The tube did not go into my stomach. It stopped in my mouth. I bit the tube to stop them from force-feeding me. The prison doctor again had the prisoners choke me. They took out the tube and poked it into my stomach again. I felt so uncomfortable that thick mucus flowed out from the corner of my mouth. My clothes were stained with this mucus. My esophagus was injured and blood flowed out of my mouth. I squatted down in the lavatory and vomited. A prisoner told Doctor Fu that I was vomiting. Fu just cursed her. On the next day, they dragged me out to force-feed me again. Once more, seven or eight people pressed me down. At this moment, I kept biting the tube and refused to be force-fed. My heart beat so fast that I felt it was unbearable. When doctor Fu saw that my face had changed color, she used her stethoscope to listen to my heartbeat, and told the prisoners to lay me down flat on the floor. Doctor Fu then asked them not to touch me. Ever since that time, they did not drag me out to force-feed me again.

Sentenced to Forced Labor Again for One Year

One night, after I had been on a hunger strike for over ten days, the guards had a prisoner carry me out of the cell to the ground floor of the Investigation Room of the labor camp. A young policeman had a notice about a labor camp sentence and asked me to sign it. I said, "I have done nothing wrong in wanting to be a good person. I should not be sent to a labor camp." He asked the prisoner who carried me to take the notice and this policeman left. After returning to our cell, the prisoner showed me the notice that said that I was sentenced to one year of forced labor. The following day, I was taken to the transferring cell. Again I went on a hunger strike. In the morning, two days later, Director Leng (female) ordered the prisoners to bring me out, saying that they wanted to talk to both Mao Kun and myself. Hardly had Mao Kun and I stepped out of the iron gate of the cell when some prisoners were already waiting there to push us down and force-feed us with porridge. When I did not open my mouth, the prisoners pressed my head hard and choked me. They used a thick foot-long and pointed piece of bamboo to pry open my mouth. They injured my mouth and broke my teeth, but they still were not successful in force-feeding me. The prisoners simply threw the bowl of porridge over my face. My face, hair and coat were all full of the porridge.

Sent to Nanmusi Women's Labor Camp Again

In the early morning of February 4, 2002, someone told us to pack up our things. The military police and a guard with the last name of Li (female) handcuffed seven of us practitioners together with the other prisoners, and sent us to Nanmusi Women's Labor Camp in Zizhong, Sichuan Province.

Since I was physically very feeble and had no strength to even stand up, the police from the No. 5 Team asked the prisoners to take off my clothes and search me. After that, they jailed me in a cell with two prisoners keeping watch over me. They forced me to sit on a 20-centimeter-wide plastic stool in an "army corps" posture. I continued with my hunger strike. The team leader, Wang Shan ordered the prisoners to take me out to force-feed me. I told them, "My heartbeat is so fast, you must not force-feed me." The prisoners said, "Force-feed her, and force-feed her to death." They took me to the hospital of the labor camp to feed me through my nose. They poked the tube into my mouth and I bit it hard. The smell of the rubber tube made me vomit and my heartbeat got faster. I thought if I bit the tube in this way I could stop them from torturing me. Hu Rong, the nurse who was force-feeding me (and who was the former guard of the No. 7 Falun Gong Team) saw that they could not force the tube down, so they asked the director of the hospital to force in a hard tube and pushed it down into my nose. As the tube was pushed in, I could here where the flesh of my trachea was poked and injured. My stomach was also damaged.

I could not stop vomiting blood after being sent back to the confinement cell. After two days of vomiting, a prisoner reported to the team leader Wang Shan that I kept vomiting. Wang told the prisoners to take me to the hospital and have a medical check-up. The doctor told the team leader Ma that "Zhou Huimin's blood pressure is not detectable. Her heartbeat is so fast that she has to be hospitalized immediately." I was admitted to the labor camp hospital on the second floor, Bed 16. They handcuffed me to the iron bed and gave me an infusion. I had been on a hunger strike for almost one month by that time. My whole body was swollen, my face was misshapen and I could not open my eyes. The hospital tried to reduce the swelling but failed. Team leader Wang was so angry that he asked for two prisoners to drag me to the mirror and cursed me, "Look at yourself, how swollen you are, you don't look like a human being, neither do you look like a ghost." I said, "I am not guilty, I demand to be released. I will get healthy again after I go home and do the Falun Gong exercises. The labor camp is not a place that I should stay. If you don't release me, I won't take any food. I will stay on a hunger strike to get back my right to have my belief." It was the Chinese New Year of 2002. Those prisoners and police officers took turns to come to the hospital to take care of me, and they force-fed me with infusions. They cursed me with vicious language.

I was in the hospital for ten more days, with my face and body badly swollen. My heartbeat was still very fast and my life was in great danger. Under this situation, the labor camp finally had to notify my family to come pick me up.

My Family Was Extorted For Money

Team leader Wang Shan and Doctor Qing asked my family to pay over one thousand yuan before they released me. They extorted the five hundred yuan that my sister-in-law had on her at the time. They even took away the one hundred yuan that my friend had for travel expenses. Again they asked for money from my older brother. My brother saw that I had been tortured by them and that I was dying, so he said, "We don't want her, just send us her ash box after she is dead, and I will find you people later." When they saw that they could not extort any money from my family, they asked my sister-in-law to borrow some money to pay them. Since my sister-in-law was eager to rescue me, she borrowed money and got me out. This happened on February 16, 2002.

Miracle in Dafa

Finally I was freed. On the way home, I was telling them about my experience of being tortured in the jail, and how I remained steadfast in believing in Master and Dafa when facing all the tribulations. The driver took me from the labor camp all the way home. During those short two hours, when my family and I were in the car, we all witnessed something amazing. My swollen face was not swollen any more. When we arrived at home, even though I was all but a skeleton, I walked up to the fifth floor without anybody helping me. My family witnessed this extraordinary phenomena happening to me and their happiness was beyond description. My friends also witnessed this miracle. Ever since then, they all knew the miracle of Dafa and that Falun Dafa is good.

Abducted Again

At around 1:00 p.m. on September 2, 2002, I rode my bike to clarify the truth by handing out some truth-clarifying VCDs. While I was in the Chengdu Fire-fighting Facilities Factory, someone reported me as I was giving out the truth-clarifying VCDs. I was taken to the Chengdu City Huangwajie Police Station.

The police took away my purse, cell phone and over two hundred yuan and also my personal phone books (which they have not returned to this day). I tried to clarify the truth to the police, but they just did not listen. A young policeman said, "If you say that again, I will beat you to death." I thought that the chance to meet them was rare, so no matter how they treated me, I kept telling them the benefits of Falun Dafa and telling them that I was innocent of any crime. The police handcuffed me to a long bench outside of the office. After a while, some policemen came over to take pictures of me. I didn't allow them to take any pictures. Four or five of them pressed me down, some of them pulled my hair, some chocked me, trying to forcefully take my picture. Immediately I begged Master, "Master, I don't want them to take my picture." At this moment, I felt very light physically, and finally, they failed to take any pictures.

Police Grabbed My Neck and Pushed Me into the Pi County Detention Center

In the evening, two policemen and one policewoman handcuffed me and forced me into a van to take me to the Pi County Detention Center. I firmly refused. They forcibly carried me into the van. Upon arrival at the Pi County Detention Center, the police dragged me out of the van, grabbed me by the neck, and pushed and dragged me into the office. It did not take long to finish the paperwork. That policewoman grabbed me again by the neck and pushed me into a cell in Division 12. My neck was stiff and very painful for several days and I found it hard to breathe. Once again I started a hunger strike to protest the illegal detention.

The next morning, a prison doctor surnamed Fu said I had not had a health checkup upon entering the detention center, and thus checked my blood pressure and listened to my heartbeat. After listening to my heartbeat, Doctor Fu stood up and said to the cell head, "Her heartbeat is very fast, already more than 120 times per minutes." Finally the cell head told an inmate to dump the soup for force-feeding, since they did not dare to force-feed me while I was in that condition.

On the 5th day of my hunger strike, a prison doctor surnamed Tang (male) and some guards handcuffed me and sent me to Qingyang District Hospital in Chengdu City. On the fourth floor in the hospital, there is a special room exclusively for persecuting Falun Gong practitioners. All the windows were covered with welded iron bars. There were four beds in the room; each one had a pair of handcuffs and chains attached. Monitoring devices were installed in the room. Guards were on duty in front of the room 24 hours a day, with each shift consisting of two guards from the detention center and two armed police. When I was carried in, Dafa practitioner Tao Juhua was sent back to the detention center. Wang Bing, a 16-year-old practitioner who also was handcuffed there, said, "When Tao Juhua was sent back to the detention center, she was unable to see from time to time. She was also too weak to speak, and had to use hand signs." The armed police guards carried me onto the bed, and chained my lower legs to the iron bed frame. They then forced an IV into me and inserted a catheter tube. It was so painful that I felt cold all over my body. I would not allow them to persecute me like that. So I removed the IV tube and dumped the injecting solution and medicine as well. We four practitioners decided to resist such inhuman torture.

At 9:00 p.m. every day, the guard applied another pair of handcuffs to my right leg. The handcuffs were too tight and as a result, they cut into the flesh. The other end of the handcuffs was clamped onto the bed frame and I was left this way from 9:00 p.m. until 10:00 a.m. the following day. They also twisted, raised, and chained our hands onto an iron frame from above, so that our entire body was stretched out straight. Being chained like this, one's body would become numb all over. On the No. 3 bed, there was an elderly fellow practitioner who did not reveal his name. Throughout the night, this practitioner was groaning because of the pain, as well as vomiting and having bowel movements with blood in the stool. Wang Bing's vertebra was already broken due to the torture. Ms. Wang is a student from the Deyang Art and Gymnastic College. Her mother Chen Xiangyi is still detained in Chuanxi Women Prison in Longquan, Chengdu City. Wang Bing's teeth were clenched. Even through her expression of pain, I could see her determination in Master and Dafa ¡V she had been on a hunger strike for more than one month. Huang Lisha on Bed No. 4 was persecuted to death like that. Huang Lisha was transferred from the Second Hospital in Qingyang District, which also has special rooms to persecute practitioners. Both Huang Lisha and I had stayed in Nanmusi Women Labor Camp. Although we saw each other in such a situation, we were still very happy to see each other. Every day, I recited to them from Zhuan Falun and other writings of Master,

"A Great Enlightened Being does not fear hardship
Having forged an adamantine will
And with no attachment to living or dying
He walks his path of Fa-rectification openly and nobly."

("Righteous Thoughts and Righteous Actions")

Since I had not had any water for a very long time, sometimes I felt uncomfortable and vomited. Wang Bing said to me in tears, "You are our backbone, since you can recite the Fa and Master's article to us. You have to make it!" No matter how much pain I was in, I nodded to her with a smile to comfort her. After all, she was only 16 years old. And she was persecuted like that!

Evildoing People Continued to Persecute Me Even When I was on the Brink of Death

After being persecuted for more than 10 days at the Qingyang District Hospital, the hospital officials saw that my physical health had become very bad. So they notified the Huangwajie Police Station, who had sent me there. The Huangwajie Police Station then notified Chengzhong Police Station in Jianyang City, where my residence was registered. Thus, police from both Huangwajie Police Station and Chengzhong Police Station came to pick me up. A young policeman said, "How come she has changed so much after staying here for just over than 10 days?" Armed police removed the chains from my feet, and asked policeman Si Wenxian (from Chengzhong Police Station) if I would be released. The policeman said, "No." I was sent to the elevator in a cart. Si Wenxian opened the van, placed me in the back, and shut the door. After arriving at the Chengzhong Police Station, they carried me out and placed me on a wooden stool in the waiting room of the police station. After a while, they sent me to Jianyang Detention Center and left me on the floor. Seeing I was very skinny and fearing I would die there, the policeman on duty told Si Wenxian and other policemen, "You need to take her somewhere else." Si Wenxian asked the police station head to call the policeman on duty, requesting that they forcibly hold me there. This policeman then ordered two male inmates to carry me to the innermost cell in the prison.

More than 30 practitioners were detained there. It was because of the 16th National Congress that they were being secretly detained. Because I was vomiting blood and had a rapid heartbeat, the police guard asked inmates to take me out of the cell the following day. Male prisoners brought a death bed and bound me onto it for a forced IV injection. By then, I had not drunk anything for more than 20 days. My blood vessels and muscles had shrunk. The prison doctor tried for a long time, but could not find a blood vessel. Eventually, he inserted the needle somewhere based on his feeling. Because the injection did not go smoothly, my upper arm was very painful and became severely swollen in a short time. The doctor then told inmates to warm my upper arm with hot towels. The heat caused many blisters on the upper arm, and it was very painful. Later, the prison doctor told the guard that the IV injection was more than 30 drops per minute, and my heartbeat was more than 100. He dared not to continue the injection. The next day, about 10 practitioners placed the paper ¡V on which I had spit up blood ¡V into a bowl. They then took it to prison officer Zeng, requesting that I be released. The prison officials not only did not release me, but transferred me by ambulance to a hospital at noon. I was hospitalized in a room on the third floor for further persecution.

A group of people took turns watching me around the clock. They were from the Jiancheng Town Government, the Jiancheng City 610 Office, and Chengzhong Police station. Each shift had four people. Policemen from all sections of the city participated in taking shifts to watch me. They wanted to force me to have an IV injection again. I told the town government head Liu Huaigu, "I do not need IV injections. I am a practitioner. If I go back home to study the Fa and do the exercises, my health will recover naturally. There is nothing wrong in my practicing Falun Gong and being a good person. You cannot continue persecuting me like this. I request that you release me immediately."

At midnight, the hospital sent a notice stating I was in a life-threatening situation. The guard placed the notice by my pillow. The next morning, officials from the Ziyang City 610 Office (Jianyang is part of Ziyang), the Jianyang 610 Office, and the Jianyang Town Government held a meeting on the third floor of the hospital. At noon, the nurses and doctors on duty were not allowed to leave. In the morning, the nurses had already been ordered to include a large amount of sleeping medicine in the injection. They also specifically injected me with sleeping drugs, but I did not have any response. Of course, they did not know that I began taking sleeping pills when I was 14 years old. They wanted to inject an IV into me after putting me to sleep. After the meeting in the morning, the officers from the police station first handcuffed me onto the bed. The nurse brought an oxygen tank and administered oxygen to me. Another nurse took out several rolls of bandaging. The town government head Liu Huaigu said, "Here we do not care what you think. You will receive an IV injection no matter what." Then, everyone there, including township government officers, the people assigned to watch me, doctors, and nurses all came up to me, pressed me down and tightened up my four limbs. There was bandaging across my chest, stomach, and legs, and of them were tightly secured to the bed frame. They then injected the IV into one of my hands through two tubes. They inhumanly persecuted me like that.

Their actions stirred up public indignation. Kind people sent the persecution information to the Minghui website [the Chinese version of Clearwisdom]. Practitioners from all over the world called the Jianyang City government, the Jianyang Town government, and other related government offices, requesting them to immediately stop the brutal persecution and release me.

Seeing I Was Dying, They Sentenced Me to Forced Labor

Upon seeing that I was in a life-threatening situation, several people discussed the possibility of sending me to a labor camp. These people included Jiancheng Town Head Liu Huaigu, Management Office Director Wang Jinquan, Chengzhong Police Station officer Si Wenxian, and others. In the evening, they notified me that I was being sent to a labor camp for two years. After Si Wenxian read the notice by my bed, he placed it by my bed. I did not acknowledge it and tossed it into the garbage can.

Wang Jinquan swore at me. They were afraid I would die. So they asked my friends who worked at government offices to talk with me and persuade me to eat. It was already three or four o'clock in the morning, but they still tried to talk to me. I told them that I had been starving for a very long time and I also wanted to eat. But if I yielded to them and started to eat regularly, what awaited me was more brutal and severe persecution. I told them I practiced Falun Gong because I cherished my life. In fact, every practitioner cherishes life. Think about it, without eating or drinking for such a long time, why could practitioners still survive? It is because Falun Gong cultivates both the mind and body. It is because Dafa is so outstanding that these miracles could happen to practitioners. However, under this unreasonable persecution, I only had this way to safeguard my freedom and belief. In the end, they came to understand, and did not say any more about it.

Police Used their Connections to Send Me to the Labor Camp

On September 29, 2002, detention center officers Yin and Zeng dragged me into a van and drove directly to the Nanmusi Women's Labor Camp in Zizhong City, Sichuan Province. They took me directly to the labor camp hospital. A female doctor did an electrocardiogram on me, and said, "We dare not accept her. She is already like this, you need to take her back. Or, you can go to the Education Section to see if they want to accept her." Officer Zeng said to the doctor, "How about we invite you to lunch today?" The doctor firmly said, "We do not have time at noon. She is already like that, and we dare not accept her." Officers Zeng and Yin then put me back into the van and drove to the Education Section. They then went in to cotton up to the officers there. Normally, after the examining doctor refuses someone, that person will be sent back. But this time, the Education Section decided to accept me although I had been persecuted nearly to death. Officers Yin and Zeng thus drove me to the labor camp. They dragged me by the arms for almost a hundred yards through the parking lot to the No. 5 team. During this process, my socks were worn through, and my pants were all covered with mud and black dust. After dumping me at the entrance of the No. 5 team, they immediately left. Upon seeing that I had been left on the ground, team leader Hu Shiju started to swear at me and ordered some inmates to drag me up to the third floor and put me in the confinement room.

My heartbeat was very fast. I also felt nauseated and kept on vomiting. The inmates reported this to the team leader Hu Shiju. Therefore, in the evening I was taken to the manufacturing office where I was left on the floor and watched by inmates 24 hours a day. At night two days later, I suddenly felt worse. The inmates who had been watching me immediately told Hu Shiju, "Zhou Huimin is in danger." Hu Shiju came and took a look. She then asked the inmates to take me to the labor camp hospital. The doctor on duty checked me and found I was in a life-threatening situation since my heartbeat was so rapid. She sent me to the emergency room. They gave me oxygen and monitored me by electrocardiogram. Sometimes my heartbeat was more than 100, sometimes only more than 40. They thought I could die at any time. So they notified the hospital director, the head of the labor camp (surnamed Wu), and Security Head Yang Xiaoping to come to the emergency room to check on my situation.

I Was Not Allowed to Go Home Even Though I Was Released With the Verdict of "Not Guilty"

A few days later, the Civilian Supervision Committee notified me to prepare to go home. The drug addicts who were monitoring me helped pack my things. Team leader Ma told me that he received my release letter, and the policemen from my local area should come and pick me up that day. I waited until past 6 p.m., and still no one showed up. Team leader Ma said to me, "They're probably stuck in traffic. If they don't show up, you can stay in the labor camp for one more night." That day, no one from Jianyang City came to pick me up. The doctor said that my health condition was deteriorating, and my life was in imminent danger. The inmates monitoring me were told to touch my nose every minute to check if I was still breathing. I was in the emergency room like that for more than 10 days.

I heard the inmates saying that the police from Jianyang City didn't want to pick me up. In the afternoon of October 29, Education Section head and Hospital Head Ma drove me back to Jianyang. On our way there, Luo was very upset. He said that he had spent a lot of time and effort in persuading the Jianyang Police to take me back. They, however, didn't agree. Yesterday, people from the labor camp sent someone to talk to the 610 Office in Jianyang City, and they ended up in a fight. The 610 Office wasn't willing to take me back because my two-year sentence was not over yet. They took no consideration of my health condition. (By then I had been on a hunger strike for nearly two months.) We drove to the Municipal Government Building in Jianyang City. The Jianyang Forced Labor Camp head Wu and section head Luo, who had arrived earlier in Jianyang City, took the paperwork with them and went upstairs to look for the 610 Office people to transfer me. I was lying in the car for a while. Two male policemen who came with the head of the labor camp quickly grabbed my arms and dragged me to the elevator, and then to the 610 Office. They left in a hurry after they put me on a couch.

I Was Sent to a Chinese Medicine Hospital on a Stretcher

The nurses and doctors of the Chinese Medical Hospital and people from the 610 Office forcefully put me on a stretcher and carried me to an ambulance. I asked them why they treated me like that. I had been released on a "not guilty" verdict, so why didn't they let me go home?

The people from the 610 Office only replied, "Hold her down." Then I was carried to the inpatient ward of the Internal Department on the third floor of Jianyang City Chinese Medical Hospital. The 610 Office and the doctors from the hospital continued persecuting me. After they put me on a bed, Doctor Hu Min said to me, "Zhou Huimin, now we will give you an infusion." I said, "I want to go home. I will recover on my own by practicing Falun Gong." Hu Min said, "It's not up to you. If you don't want to be infused, we'll force you to." Therefore, I was given an IV against my will.

The Jiancheng Township Government and Jianyang City Chengzhong Police Station sent people to jointly monitor me. Four people watched me around the clock. At that time, I hadn't had any food or water for two months, and my muscles had shrunk. Doctor Qing told me that all my internal organs had shrunk, and had become exhausted.

Every day the nurse had difficulty locating my blood vessel. I was stuck with a needle from the left to the right hand and from the upper to the lower arm, causing the back of both of my hands to become purple. By using this inhuman torture, they thought that they could frighten practitioners. However, something that they least expected was the unshakable righteous thoughts of Dafa practitioners.

I repeatedly told the 610 Office and people from the government that, "I was released by the forced labor camp. I am free now." I asked them to release me immediately. The people monitoring me said to me with sympathy, "We do not want to treat you like this either. However, we are instructed by our boss; we can't do much about it." I was tied up and forcefully given an infusion.

The people monitoring me also showed me a copy of the "document with red letter heading," which was given by the Town Director Liu Huaigu. Written on it was, "The Resolution on Jianyang Municipal Government Carrying Out Continual Surveillance on Falun Gong Element Zhou Huimin." Included in the document was the stipulation that my family was not allowed to visit me. Any Falun Gong practitioner who came to visit me would be arrested immediately. Every two people were given a copy of the duty schedule, which indicated that it was good for one month.

Showing Symptoms of Leukemia

When I was first admitted to the hospital, my white blood cell count had dropped from over 1,000 to zero. Doctor Hu Min told me, "We suspect you have leukemia, so we are prepared to do a bone marrow extraction." Very often, they would come to draw my blood for examination even though my muscles and blood had shrunk. There was hardly any blood to be extracted, and even if it could be extracted, it was very dense and was only a small amount. The nurse told me, "Your bone marrow can't be extracted; it is already dry."

The people monitoring me believed I might stop breathing. Still, I had the strongest faith in Master and Dafa, and I deeply believe in the miracles of Dafa. I was that calm. No matter how long the inhuman persecution lasted, I would survive. I must tell the people of the world about this brutal persecution. I said quietly to Master, "Master, I am a Dafa practitioner, no matter how brutal this persecution towards Dafa and practitioners is, as your disciple, my heart is still steadfast." Every day, when I lay in bed, I closed my eyes and recited Master's articles and sent forth righteous thoughts. Every time when I recited,

"Riding a tiger, so hard to dismount [1]
Humans trying even to challenge Gods
Doing all possible of evil beings
Any chance of survival utterly ruined" ("Entering the Gate of No-Life")

[1] A Chinese idiom that refers to getting into a situation that has no easy way, or even any way, out."

I would sense the impending undignified end of those people who carried out evil deeds towards me. Every time when I was recited "Righteous Thoughts and Righteous Actions" I would feel the immeasurable glory and happiness of a Dafa practitioner. Even though in their eyes, my life was in great danger. I remembered what Master said:

"If he has the heart for cultivation practice, it is his Buddha-nature that has emerged. This heart is considered most precious, and people will help him. Under such difficult circumstances, this person is still not lost and wants to come back. As a result, people will help him and unconditionally give him a hand--they will help him with anything. Why can we do such a thing for a practitioner but not for an ordinary person?" (Zhuan Falun)

Therefore, I always believe that Dafa practitioners are taken care of by Master. I knew that the day of breaking through the persecution and getting out of the evil den of monsters would surely come.
