People are being Killed in China for Practising Falun Gong

In the centre of Brno, a several-hour-long activity was held to show the kind of torture being waged against people who practise Falun Gong in China. Organisers of this event wanted to raise awareness about the inhuman torture Falun Gong practitioners in China are exposed to and also introduce the Falun Gong practice to the public. "Fortunately, many people got to know about Falun Gong through the information about the inhuman persecution," noted one of the organisers and member of the Czech Falun Gong Association.

Falun Gong is not a religion, it is method of cultivating body, mind and spirit. It is rooted in ancient Chinese tradition and its main principles are Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance. However, the Chinese Government severely persecute practitioners of this cultivation method. Some of the torture reminds us of the Middle Ages: People are being locked up in little cells and undergo cruel beatings, suffocation, shocks from electric batons or guards in detention centres who pierce bamboo sticks under practitioners' fingernails. According to reliable information, over one thousand Falun Gong practitioners were beaten to death, tens of thousands of them are being illegally held in labour camps.

The meditation practice itself is suitable for people of all ages, the slow motion exercises are easy to learn, they should relieve stress and can be practised easily in everyday life. In Brno there are about ten practitioners who regularly meet in the park in Luzanky to do the exercises.
Czech practitioners plan to organise even more activities like yesterday's in the future. People will have more chances to support the activities and practitioners who suffer in China by signing petitions as they did yesterday.

Appeal to Raise Awareness About the Persecution of Falun Gong

Yesterday, in the centre of Brno, Falun Gong practitioners held an appeal to inform people about the persecution of this meditation practice in China. People who were passing by could read the display boards about the inhuman tortures that the Chinese regime uses on practitioners in China and could also sign the petition calling for an end to all of this. "Yesterday, more than two hundred people signed the petition," said one of the organisers of this event. "This appeal was one of the new year Falun Gong activities which were also held in Prague and Bratislava. We also wanted to express our hope that this absurd persecution would end this year."

Falun Gong is a practice of meditation and exercises, based on the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance. However, in 1999 the Chinese communist regime banned this practise and since then its practitioners are being cruelly persecuted.
