(Clearwisdom.net) Former Communist Party Secretary General of Beijing (the highest official position of the city), now the People's Political Consultative Conference Chairman of China, Jia Qinglin, has been recently sued for crimes including genocide by human rights organizations and Falun Gong practitioners in Austria and Spain respectively during his visit to three European countries.

On September 7, AFP reported on one of the lawsuits filed in Spain. According to the report, a spokesman for Falun Gong said that practitioners had filed a lawsuit to the Superior Court of Spain against high-ranking Chinese official Jia Qinglin for "persecuting Falun Gong".

A spokesperson for Falun Gong in Spain, David Mercader told AFP, "As former mayor of Beijing, general secretary of the municipality Jia Qinglin, today the chairman of the Chinese people's political consultative conference, is a key figure behind the persecution of the Falun Gong."

According to Mr. Mercader, hundreds of thousands or even millions of practitioners have been sent to forced labor camps, tortured and even murdered since 1999 and Jia is one of the key figures who is responsible for this genocide.

The report explained that Falun Gong practitioners handed the lawsuit to the court before Jia Qinglin's five-day visit to Spain. Mercader explained that they hope the Spanish judge will accept and hear this case, although Jia Qinglin will leave Spain today.

According to Clearwisdom.net, practitioners submitted the lawsuit to the Spanish Superior Court on September 2 before Jia's arrival. Practitioners hoped that the judge will accept the case and have Jia respond to his crimes in the face of Justice.

According to practitioners, the report said, there were 100 million practitioners in China alone before the persecution started in 1999 and since then at least 1,047practitioners have been tortured or beaten to death.
