1. [Wuxue City, Hubei Province] Falun Dafa Practitioner Gong Yueming Detained at Wuxue Detention Center for Going to Beijing and Filing Appeals for Falun Dafa
In July 2004 Wuxue City Falun Dafa practitioner Gong Yueming went to Beijing to appeal on behalf of Falun Gong, and was arrested and detained at the Wuxue Detention Center in Hubei Province. The police tried to extort 4,000 Yuan (1) from Gong's family in exchange for Gong's release.
2. [Songyuan City, Jilin Province] Falun Dafa Practitioner Zhang Chunxiao Sentenced to Three Years of Forced Labor
On April 17, 2004, officers from the Yanjiang Police Station, a subsidiary of the Ningjiang No. 2 Branch Police Department, staked out and arrested Falun Dafa practitioner Zhang Chunxiao. Zhang was an employee of the Lianhuapao Farm who had been forced to leave home to avoid further persecution. On April 29, Zhang was taken to the Shanyou Detention Center in Songyuan City and sentenced to three years of forced labor by the No. 2 Branch Police Department. After being transferred to the Yinmahe Forced Labor Camp in Jiutai, Zhang was found to suffer from high blood pressure and heart problems, and was held in a temporary facility for observation. Zhang remains in custody at the forced labor camp.
3. [Tianjin] Retired Party Official Ms. Liao Zhiping Arrested While Raising Public Awareness about the Persecution against Falun Gong
Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Liu Zhiping is a senior Party official on a full-benefit retirement plan in Hexi District, Tianjin. On the morning of July 14, 2004, she went out to raise public awareness about the persecution against Falun Gong and was arrested. Her current whereabouts are unknown.
4. [Beijing] Falun Dafa Practitioner Ms. Gu Shuyun Arrested While Distributing Falun Gong Truth-Clarifying Materials
Ms. Gu Shuyun, a practitioner in her sixties, lives in the Yutaoyuan Area within Xizhimen in Xicheng District, Beijing. She was arrested two weeks ago while distributing Falun Gong truth-clarifying materials. Her whereabouts remain unknown.
5. [Beijing] Falun Dafa Practitioner Guo Baowen Arrested after Being Reported to the Police for Delivering Falun Gong Truth-Clarifying Materials to Company Leaders
Ms. Guo Baowen, who is in her fifties, lives near North Taipingzhuang in Beijing. About six months ago, she was reported to the police while delivering Falun Gong truth-clarifying materials to the leaders of her workplace. She was taken into custody at the Xicheng District Detention Center. This is the second time she was arrested. It has been reported that she faces a three-year prison term.
6. [Suining City, Sichuan Province] Wang Jifang and Two Other Falun Dafa Practitioners Arrested for Raising Public Awareness about the Persecution Against Falun Gong
Wang Jifang is a Falun Dafa practitioner in Suining City, Sichuan Province. An informant alerted the police while she was raising public awareness about the persecution against Falun Gong. Between 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. on July 11, 2004, officers from the Jianfu Road Police Station, and officials of the Jingning Neighborhood Committee led policemen from the State Security Brigade to Wang's home. Wang quickly entered the bedroom and locked the door. The officers climbed over the rail and entered the bedroom through the window and forcibly arrested Wang.
The officers also found solemn statements written by two fellow practitioners who wished to nullify any previous statements signed against their will. On July 12, the unidentified practitioners were both arrested. Wang Jifang continues to be held in custody at the Lingquansi Detention Center.

7. [Suining City, Sichuan Province] Falun Dafa Practitioner Ms. Ma Yuhua Arrested After Being Forced to Leave Her Home
Ms. Ma Yuhua is a Falun Dafa practitioner in Suining City, Sichuan Province. In November 2003 she was forced to stay away from her home in order to avoid further persecution. At 3:00 p.m. on July 12, she was arrested by State Security Brigade officers at her father's home. Her whereabouts remain unknown.
8. [Jichun County, Hubei Province] Three Women Practitioners Brutally Beaten and Detained for Distributing Falun Gong Truth-Clarifying Leaflets and Hanging Banners
Ms. Gong Xiaolan, 36, Ms. Gu Jinzhi, 40, and Ms. Hu Ronghua, 40, are Falun Dafa practitioners from Liuhe Town in Jichun County, Hubei Province. On the evening of June 28, the three practitioners rode a motorbike to Datong Town to distribute Falun Gong truth-clarifying leaflets and the hang banners saying "Falun Dafa Is Good." Officers from the Datong Police Station spotted the three women, chased them with their police vehicle, and cornered them at a pond. The practitioners' cries were heard from a distance as police held their heads under water until they almost drowned. All three practitioners suffered swollen eyes, and their faces became swollen with bruises. They have been taken into custody at the Wuzhuang No. 1 Detention Center in Jichun County. No family members have been allowed to visit. Their lives could be in imminent danger, as no more details are available about their abuse.

9. [Nanchang County, Jiangxi Province] County "610 Office," Police, and State Security Brigade Persecute Falun Dafa Practitioners
On April 25, 2004, Falun Dafa practitioners in the area of Nanchang County, Jiangxi Province distributed and posted materials and leaflets that described the truth of the staged Tiananmen self immolation incident as well as materials declaring "Falun Dafa Is Good" in the streets of Nanchang County. The Nanchang County "610 Office," (2) the county police department, and state security brigade were infuriated and staged an all-out campaign against Falun Gong.
On April 29, they arrested Chen Yulian, Xiong Guoying, and other Falun Dafa practitioners. Xiong managed to escape by keeping righteous thoughts in mind. On June 22, a Chinese holiday, Xiong went home to visit, and was arrested by police. Officers from the Bayi Township Police Station and from the county state security brigade also arrested Falun Dafa practitioner Gong Juru. All three practitioners are currently in custody. Other practitioners have been released only after 10,000 Yuan in cash was extorted from each.
