South Africa Shooting

On the afternoons of July 2-3, 2004, Falun Dafa practitioners held an anti-torture exhibit in Johannesburg's Chinatown and on the church grounds of the capitol city, Pretoria. The exhibit attracted wave after wave of visitors. Falun Dafa practitioners passed out truth-clarifying materials and also gave an introduction to the display. One Chinese man said, "This is impossible." But after he found out the truth, he said, "The CCP is too low and too cruel."

Falun Dafa practitioners in Shenyang City wrote to the Australian Research Association, expressing their concern for their fellow practitioner who was shot in South Africa. The letter said that no matter how rampant Jiang and his regime are in the human world, they can never block the global support amongst the one body of Falun Dafa practitioners. We will follow Master's teachings, do the three things even better, and save sentient beings.

Facts of the Persecution

On the morning of June 24, 2004, Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Dai Yuzhu, from Guta District, Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province, was shopping at the Jinhua Market, and clarified the truth to people. She was reported to police, and taken away to a detention center. Within two days, she was sentenced to 18 months in a forced labor camp, and sent to the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp.

On the evening of April 21, 2004, Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Han Maolin, from Changde City, Hunan Province, was passing out truth-clarifying materials in Ziqiao, and was abducted by police from the Chengxi Substation and detained in the Baiheshan No. 2 Detention Center. Police tortured her for the entire night. They handcuffed her hands behind her back, used an electric fan to blow air on her, and she ended up having a stroke. She could not eat or drink for 41 days, and she vomited blood. Police released her on June 1, but fifteen days later, on June 15, police stormed into her home, abducted her, and took her to the Baimalong Forced Labor Camp in Zhuzhou City, Hunan Province.

Vice Director Sun Chun-guang of the Yitong County Detention Center, Jilin Province, instructed prisoners to beat and force-feed detained Falun Dafa practitioners. In June 2004, Sun sent Falun Dafa practitioners Mr. Chen Jingru, Ms. Xu Hongyan, and Ms. Chen Yuxia to the Heizuizi Prison (these three practitioners had been detained for six months). The prison discovered that Mr. Chen had tuberculosis, Ms. Xu had heart disease, and that Ms. Xu needed to be released for medical treatment. Sun made an underhanded deal with the police hospital director, and still sent Ms. Xu to prison, despite her need for treatment.

On June 21, 2004, Li Zhuo and Li Jiazhe, state security police from Shulan City, Jilin Province, broke into Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Cao Guihua's home with the intention of arresting her and two other practitioners who were in her house. The other two practitioners escaped with righteous thoughts, but Ms. Cao Guihua was abducted. Police scratched her face, arms, and legs. Police also confiscated her family's possessions, which were worth more than 10,000 Yuan (1), and made a mess of the house.
