Ms. Qiu Liying Abducted Again After an Unjust Four-Year Imprisonment

On the evening of April 13, 2004, officers from the local police station in Hedong Village, in the township of Tianchang, broke into a dormitory of the Shijiazhuang Tractor Manufacturing Plant in Shijiazhuang City. The police arrested several Falun Dafa practitioners there, including Ms. Qiu Liying, Mr. Huang Wei and a young man named Miao, who had all been using the dormitory for an office. They are currently imprisoned at Shijiazhuang First Detention Center, where they are enduring persecution.

Ms. Qiu Liying, 45, is a former employee of Shijiazhuang Oil Refinery in Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province. After she began practicing Falun Dafa, and the principles of "Truth, Compassion, Tolerance" as taught by the Teacher of Falun Dafa, she came to understand the true value and meaning of life, and the reason why one should strive to be a good person. So she became an even better person in her work and her daily life, and everyone who knew her regarded her as a good and altruistic person.

After July 20, 1999, the Jiang regime began spreading fabricated stories and propaganda that defamed Falun Dafa. Ms. Qiu went to Beijing in October 1999 to appeal and explain the facts of Falun Dafa to the authorities in a peaceful way. However, in November 1999, she was arrested and sentenced to three years of forced labor. She was imprisoned at the Kaiping Forced Labor Camp in Tangshan City, and later at the Baoding Forced Labor Camp, both in Hebei Province. During her imprisonment, she suffered all kinds of both mind and body tortures. She was once sent to Ankang Hospital, a psychiatric hospital in Tangshan City, where she was locked up with male drug abusers and psychiatric patients. The hospital staff tortured Ms. Qiu, applying the same coercive means that they used on psychiatric patients. Later, Zhang Jianzhong and others from the Kaiping Forced Labor Camp Administrative Office sent Ms. Qiu to the Tangshan City Fifth Psychiatric Hospital (previously the Tangshan Psychopathic Hospital). There, the doctors and nurses tortured Ms. Qiu with high-voltage electric needles and injected her with drugs that were destructive to her nervous system.

During her imprisonment in the forced labor camp, the guards illegally extended the term of her sentence for another three months because she refused to give up her firm belief in Falun Dafa. At the end of January 2003, to continue their persecution past the expiration of her term, the guards transferred Ms. Qiu from Baoding Forced Labor Camp to a brainwashing program near the capitol of Hebei Province. Ms. Qiu laid bare the hypocrisy and lies in the brainwashing program with her righteous thoughts. She refused to allow herself to become brainwashed, and was determined to continue her practice of Falun Dafa. After being illegally detained for more than seven months, she began a hunger strike to request immediate release.

On the morning of October 1, 2003, Ms. Qiu was sent home after conducting a continuous hunger strike for over one month. Just one week later, on October 8, the officials from Shijiazhuang Oil Refinery again sent Ms. Qiu to the "Hebei Province Legal Education Center" (a brainwashing center) to continue persecuting her. Using her righteous thoughts, Ms. Qiu Liying eventually got out of the brainwashing center in early 2004. She finally regained her freedom after more than four-years of unjust imprisonment.

Ms. Qiu then needed an income, so she partnered with another practitioner and started a clothing business. However, the relentless police arrested them again while they were working at their office.

Mr. Huang Wei, 36, began practicing Falun Gong in 1995. He strictly followed the principles of "Truth, Compassion, Tolerance" and improved both his mind and body. He gave up his long-time habits of drinking and smoking, and also changed his bad temper. His whole family lived happily and harmoniously.

After July 20, 1999, Jiang's regime illegally suppressed Falun Gong. Mr. Huang was sentenced to three years in a forced labor camp under the charge of "making an appeal on behalf of Falun Dafa." The guards brutally beat him and shocked him with electric batons. Mr. Huang treated everyone kindly. The prisoners in the labor camp respected him and respectfully called him "teacher Huang." In the Baoding Forced Labor Camp, the guards tortured Falun Dafa practitioners with all kinds of methods in order to increase the "brainwashed ratio," as had been ordered by higher authorities. Many brutal guards frequently beat Mr. Huang. He still has the scars on his head from those beatings. The guards deprived him of sleep for as long as fifteen consecutive days. This torture method was called "stewing the eagle" (1). This particular torture method broke the spirit of many practitioners, and Mr. Huang almost collapsed in a comatose state. However, he endured the torture and got out of the devil's lair in late 2002 and reunited with his family. When Mr. Huang was first sentenced to the forced labor camp, his son was only four months old. One can easily imagine how difficult life must have been for his wife, Ms. Han Yanqiu. Even so, the heartless police from Hedong Village Police Station and staff from local administrative offices paid frequent visits to harass and threaten Mr. Huang's family, causing them enormous psychological harm. During Mr. Huang's three-year imprisonment, he was not allowed to see his wife for a period that exceeded two years.

Mr. Miao, 30, began practicing Falun Dafa in 2001. He had been chronically ill since childhood. Even though he was still young, he suffered many kinds of diseases, including lymphatic tuberculosis, serious gastritis and intestinal obstruction. He always appeared weak and thin, and had to take a handful of pills every day. He had to be admitted to the hospital almost every year to treat his chronic gastritis because the acute pain could have proven fatal. He dared not eat anything that was even semi-solid, not even rice. His intestinal obstruction problem was even worse. The doctor said his intestines were only as thick as one's little finger and there was no cure for his condition. He could only control his pain with medication. When he first started practicing, the persecution of Falun Dafa had already been going on for over a year, but Mr. Miao firmly believed in Falun Dafa and strictly followed the principles of "Truth, Compassion, Tolerance." He was pleasantly surprised when all his illnesses were completely cured, after having practicing Falun Dafa for only six months. He took on a healthier complexion and was no longer afraid to eat solid foods. Falun Dafa gave him a brand-new life.
