This year, Falun Gong practitioners from Northern Germany decided to celebrate World Falun Dafa Day in Hannover City. Practitioners from Northern Germany and Westfallen state also participated.
People walking on the streets could take information about Falun Gong from
display stands, or learn about the facts by talking to practitioners. There were
also petition forms on the table calling for an end to the persecution. After
understanding the truth about he campaign of Genocide that is taking pace in
China, many people signed the petition supporting the lawsuit against Jiang
Zemin.
Behind the display area hung two huge banners. Two tents were erected on both sides of the display area. In one tent, a group of practitioners demonstrated the meditation exercise movements while in the other tent another group of practitioners wrote people's names in Chinese calligraphy on bookmarks with Falun Dafa website addresses on them. This activity was very popular with visitors. Throughout the entire day, there were people lining up.
Photos of Falun Dafa were hung in both tents. People could see for themselves how Falun Dafa spread from China all over the world. There were also photos of the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China, as well as the peaceful appeal activities of practitioners worldwide.
Someone asked practitioners, "Why aren't there any torture photos?" He knew that Falun Gong was being persecuted in China. Practitioners explained that because our emphasis that day was on presenting the beauty of Falun Dafa, no big torture photos were displayed. However we still want to let the world know about the brutal persecution that has lasted for five years.
After demonstrating the five sets of exercises, four practitioners performed a lotus flower dance and a solo dance entitled "Dunhuang". Practitioners also sang a song called "Coming for You".
While people were watching the performance with deep interest, the compere briefly explained how our Master held the first public Falun Gong lecture on May the 13th 1992. Then he talked about the spread of Falun Gong worldwide, about what Falun Gong (or Falun Dafa) is, the location of practice sites in Hannover city and finally how the exercises are always taught voluntarily and free of charge.
Afterwards, practitioners read a few statements, including a report on Xiong Wei, a practitioner from Germany who was imprisoned in Beijing for handing out leaflets, a resolution passed by the German Human Rights Association and a congratulatory message from the Mayor, Madam Ingrid Lange. The congratulatory message stated, "A Peaceful people, a peaceful form of practice, is being persecuted. I am so astonished and sad."
