Since Jiang's regime began the suppression of Falun Gong on July 20, 1999, the staff of the Political Security Offices in Huzhou City Police Station and "610 Offices" [1] actively followed Jiang's suppression policies. They used various ways to physically and psychologically persecute people who practiced Falun Gong in Huzhou City, Zhejiang Province. They abducted practitioners many times to the so-called "Law Study Class" in Gumeishan, Huzhou City. The class was actually a brainwashing session which held practitioners for forced brainwashing and persecution of mind and body. A partial list of persecution cases follows:
Mr. Ji Jianwei, a Falun Gong practitioner, was formerly a policeman in Huzhou City Police Station. He started to practice Falun Gong in 1996. In 1999 he was awarded for his outstanding performance at work. After July 20, 1999, because Mr. Ji continued to practice Falun Gong, his award was revoked and he was dismissed from his job. In 2001, Mr. Ji was detained at Huzhou City Detention Center on criminal charges. Since Mr. Ji was a policeman himself, many policemen in the detention center knew him. They all wondered why an outstanding policeman who used to catch all kinds of criminals was detained there. So officers from Huzhou "610 Office" purposely transferred Mr. Ji to a detention center in Changxing, Zhejiang province. He suffered many kinds of torture and intensive forced-labor there.
After being dismissed from the police station, Mr. Ji later found a job in a quarry doing heavy labor. He had to carry stones on his shoulders to make a living. However, the officers from Huzhou "610 Office" found his boss and forced him to fire Mr. Ji. Huzhou City Police Station arranged temporary work for him in a cafeteria in Huzhou Driving School, to enable continued surveillance.
Ms. Ji Peichu, Mr. Ji Jianwei's older sister, is a nurse in Hangzhou Railroad Hospital, Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province. She was arrested by the Huzhou Police Station when she was distributing Falun Gong truth-clarification materials in Huzhou. She was arrested again by the national security brigade in Xiaoshan Branch of Hangzhou Police Station at the end of March 2004, when she was distributing truth-clarification material in Xianshan, Hangzhou. She was illegally sent to a labor camp in May 2004. She is currently imprisoned and being persecuted in Moganshan Female Labor Camp.
Mr. Ji Jianwei's mother is also a Falun Gong practitioner. The authorities in Huzhou City even intentionally created conflict among Mr. Ji's family members. For example, they arranged Mr. Ji's older brother to be vice-director of the so-called "Huzhou anti-cult association" (an organization formed to persecute Falun Gong). They arranged for another older sister of Mr. Ji to be in charge of persecuting Falun Gong in a certain residential area. They tried to create hatred among family members and to tear them apart.
Mr. Shen Changfu, 31 years old, is an English teacher in Huzhou No. 6 Middle School, Huzhou, Zhejiang province. He started practicing Falun Gong in 1997. After Jiang's regime began persecuting Falun Gong on July 20, 1999, Chaoyang local police and Sixth Street local police in Huzhou have frequently harassed him with telephone calls and knocking on his door at midnight. Mr. Shen went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong in December 2000. He was arrested at Tiananmen Square and illegally detained for a month. During his detention, he was cuffed on a plank bed for many days because he spread Falun Gong and copied Falun Gong articles by hand. Bound to the bed, he was forced to defecate and urinate in his pants. Later he was illegally detained in the local Chaoyang police station for seven days. The police threatened to dismiss him from his job and send him to a labor camp. Mr. Shen was forced to write a statement contrary to his belief, and suffered a tormented conscience for doing so.
Ms. Dai Jufen, in her 50's, is an employee in Huzhou First Clothing Factory. She started to practice Falun Gong in 1995. After July 20, 1999, Huzhou police and local Longquan police subpoenaed her and confiscated her property. At midnight on August 12, 2000, the police knocked on her door to harass her. Ms. Dai was arrested on October 6, 2000 in another practitioner's home and was detained for 24 hours in the local Feiying police station. She went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong in January 2001 and was illegally imprisoned in a labor camp for two years. She was forcibly brainwashed and tortured in the labor camp. On August 20, 2003, she was forcibly abducted by the Huzhou "610 Office" to Gumeishan Brainwashing Class in Huzhou. She lost all her personal freedom, including freedom of speech there. Every day she was forced to watch TV programs that slandered Falun Gong. The guards tortured her spiritually by threatening that they would send her to a labor camp again, not allow her daughter to go to college, deprive her of her retirement pension, or send her to a mental hospital to suffer more torture.
Ms. Fei Aizhen, 68 years old, is a retiree. She started practicing Falun Gong in January 1997. Jiang's regime began the suppression of Falun Gong on July 20, 1999. In January 2001, Ms. Fei went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. She was arrested and detained in a police station in Beijing. Her home was confiscated. She was later transferred to a local police station and detained there. In July 2001, she was forcibly abducted to Gumeishan Brainwashing Class in Huzhou. She lost her personal freedom, and was forced to watch programs that slandered Falun Gong every day.
Mr. Li Jun, about 50 years old, is an agronomist in Huzhou Agriculture Bureau. He started to practice Falun Gong in 1995. After Jiang's regime began the illegal suppression of Falun Gong in July 20, 1999, Huzhou City police and local Aishan police frequently harassed him with telephone calls and knocking on his door at midnight. Mr. Li went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong in December 2000 and was arrested at Tiananmen Square. The policemen brutally beat him. They kicked his ankles, trampled his knees, kneed him in the groin, and punched his head. Huzhou police later transferred him to the local Feiying police station (formerly Longquan Police Station). Because he refused to sign a statement denouncing Falun Dafa, the police pulled his hair, slammed him against a wall, and forced him to kneel down. He was illegally detained for a month. The police threatened to send him to a labor camp, to dismiss him from his job, to forbid his children from going to school and so on. In August 2003, Huzhou "610 Office" again forcibly abducted him to Gumeishan Brainwashing Class in Huzhou. He was forced to watch programs that slandered Falun Gong every day. The guards tortured him spiritually by threatening to dismiss him from his job, to send him to a labor camp, to send him to a mental hospital and so on.
Mr. Shen Guigen was abducted by the "610 Office" and his work place in August 2003 and sent to the so-called "Law Study Class." This was actually a brainwashing class that persecuted practitioners' mind and body. Mr. Shen was tortured in the brainwashing class for nearly 40 days. In the class, he not only lost his personal freedom, he was also threatened and intimidated every day.
