Facts of the Persecution

Dafa practitioners Zhang Huali and Zeng Hongwen worked at the Water and Electricity School in Mianyang City, Sichuan Province. In March 2000 they wrote a joint letter to the National People's Congress to clarify the truth about Falun Gong. As a result, they were laid off and were ordered to write a "repentance statement." The practitioners resisted the persecution and the school authorities sent them home. In the first few months they were paid a minimum salary and later they were paid nothing. In 2001, Zhang Huali left home to avoid being sent to a brainwashing class held by officials from the Chengxi Police Station in Mianyang City. On May 19, 2002, Zhang Huali was arrested when clarifying the truth and was sent to Mianyang City Detention Center. She was later sentenced to two years of forced labor and sent to the Nanmusi Female Labor Camp in Zizhong, Sichuan Province. In October 2000, Zeng Hongwen was arrested and her home was ransacked. She was sent to the Santai Detention Center in Mianyang City. She was released in late 2000 and was forced to leave town.
