Facts of the persecution

1. Liu Meirong, a Falun Dafa practitioner in Heigou Township, City of Donggang, Liaoning Province, went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. As a result, the police officers there abducted her and detained her in the Donggang Detention Center for fifteen days. She was released after being fined 1,500 Yuan (1). Later the authorities abducted her twice, and illegally imprisoned her for one year in the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp of Shenyang City. At the end of 2001, Liu was forced to leave her home and travel about without refuge in order to avoid arrest. On April 23, 2002, several wicked police officers violently abducted her, once again, by beating her to unconsciousness. They took her to Donggang Detention Center, where they again brutally tortured her. To protest the cruel persecution, Liu held a hunger strike for at least thirty-eight days and became nothing but skin and bones. In June of 2002, the Court of Donggang City sentenced her to three years in prison. On July 9, the police officers in the Donggang Detention Center forcefully took her to the Dabei Female Prison of Shenyang City, Liaoning Province, for further persecution, disregarding Liu's extremely poor health. Because of the continuous persecution, Liu's life is now in grave danger; her blood pressure reaches as high as 200, and she has severe edema all over her body.
2. In Jiaohe City, Jilin Province, police officers abducted practitioner Ms. Zhao Fengzhi, the mother of Dafa practitioner Cui Song, during the Spring Festival earlier this year. Zhao's husband angrily confronted Zhang Yuhe, the head of the "610 Office"(2) of the city, but was brutally beaten by Zhang. On February 19, 2004, to save his mother, practitioner Cui Song posted a sign that read: "Immediately Release Dafa Practitioner Zhao Fengzhi. Zhao's husband brutally beaten by Zhang Yuhe." Hunting for the practitioners as usual, the policemen managed to arrest Cui Song and, as always, beat him severely. Cui walked with a limp after the beating. Then the authorities sentenced him to two years of imprisonment in a forced labor camp. On March 9, 2004, Cui was sent to the Yinmahe Forced Labor Camp of Jiutai. On March 30, 2004, Cui's father personally delivered a letter of appeal to the Labor Camp Management Committee of Changchun City for review. The staff members there told him, indifferently, "We can accept any appeals, but not for Falun Gong."
3. On November 7, 2000, the police officers in Nongan County illegally abducted and brutally beat Mr. Zhou Decheng, a 73-year-old Falun Dafa practitioner from Kaoshan Township, Nongan County, City of Changchun, Jilin Province. They grabbed Zhou's head and slammed it against the wall. As a consequence, Zhou lost two teeth, and his mouth and nose were bleeding. Then they further detained and tortured him for fifteen days. After illegally fining him four hundred Yuan, they finally released him.
4. Mr. Zhu Jianxun, a Dafa practitioner in Wuxue City, Hubei Province, is a former veteran working in the Agriculture Machinery Inc. of Wuxue City. Since last year, his wife had been going every month to the Municipal Social Security Bureau to pick up his official veteran's stipend. However, just before May 1 this year, the payment was withheld. She was told that they would give it out only if her husband came to pick it up in person. This was likely a ploy to try to either arrest him or to force him to renounce Falun Dafa. In fact, Zhu has been detained many times in various detention centers since July 20, 1999, and has also been imprisoned in a forced labor camp for two years. He was locked up in the Shizishan Labor Camp of Wuhan City, where he was tortured until he was critically ill. He was then released on bail for medical treatment and stayed at home. In 2002 and 2003, he was again abducted three times, and taken to the First Detention Center of Wuhan City. In each case, he was released only after he became skin and bones and was critically ill from the persecution.

5. In the Female Prison of Heilongjiang Province, the police officers have been continuously persecuting eight female practitioners there since December 4, 2003. They have been handcuffing the practitioners, depriving them of sleep, and sending them to water dungeons. On April 6, they tortured practitioner Chen Yunxia with the "Big Hang Up" torture method (3). As a result of the torture, she lost consciousness twice and even now she is still suffering memory loss and numbness in the back of her head. The wicked police officers used the same means of torture against four other practitioners and they hung them up continuously for three days. Because of the torture, practitioner Wang Fajuan has been lying on a bed since then and she cannot even walk. Both Ms. Li Dongxue and Ms. Liao Xiaolu lost consciousness twice as well. Liao is now unable to raise her arms at all, and Ms. Zhen Jinbo is in critical condition.
6. The authorities in Lujiatuo Mining Co. in Kanruan, City of Tanshang, have been persecuting Falun Gong practitioners. They illegally imprisoned practitioners in detention centers, forced labor camps, and brainwashing centers. The practitioners being persecuted include Chen Haiyan, Ma Yingjie, Wang Guilin, Qian Guihong, and Lin Li. As a result of their refusal to renounce their belief, the practitioners were harassed in numerous ways, including having their homes searched and their books destroyed, and being forced to pay exorbitant fines. They were also beaten, imprisoned, shocked with electric batons, and sent to brainwashing sessions.

(2)"610 Office"- An agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems.

(3)"Big Hang Up" torture method - This method takes two forms: (a) With both hands cuffed behind the back and only toes touching the ground, one is hung by a rope that is tied to the metal window frames; (b) One hand of a practitioner is cuffed to one bunk bed and the other hand to another bed, and the two beds are pulled in the opposite directions. One feels extreme pain as the body is stretched.
