Facts of the Persecution

Mr. Ning Tieqiao, 35 years old, is a Falun Gong practitioner from Shaodong County, Shaoyang City, Hunan Province. On March 13, 2004, he and two other practitioners, Yang Yuman and Hu Chougai, were abducted by the police when they were distributing Falun Gong truth-clarifying materials in Wanganping Village of Chenxi County, Huaihua City, Hunan Province. They were detained at the County Detention Center. During the detention period, they were brought to the National Security Brigade of the Police Department in Chenxi County. The policemen tortured them and tried to force them to make a confession. Mr. Ning Tieqiao was handcuffed to the bars on the window for several hours with his toes barely touching the floor while policemen beat him. Mr. Ning Tieqiao was transferred to the county detention center on March 18. Yang Yuman has been on a hunger strike for 16 days to protest the persecution.

Practitioner Ms. Tang Molong used to live in Sanbao Village, Nong-an County in Jilin Province. During the winter of 2000, the police kidnapped Tang Molong and sentenced her to a 3-year-term in the forced labor camp. On December 26, 2002, she was kidnapped to the Women's Forced Labor Camp in Jilin Province. The policemen tortured her with many cruel methods. She was forced to stand still, deprived of sleep, forced to do hard labor, forced to undergo brainwashing, and was shocked with electric batons. Afterwards, she was tortured to the point where she was no longer able to relieve herself.

My name is Wang Honghua, and my husband is Zhang Yueming. We reside in Junbuko Town of Weicheng District of Weifang City, Shandong Province. My husband and I were kidnapped and detained in our town government many times because we refused to give up our belief in Falun Dafa. The officials forced us to do hard labor, beat us, searched our home, and plundered our property. They also extorted 7,000 Yuan (1) from our family members.

Mr. Yang Zhi and his wife Ms. Zhang Liping are practitioners from Huzhong District in Heilongjiang Province. On October 1, 2001, they went back to Huzhong District to distribute truth-clarification material. On October 13, they were abducted by the police and sent to Huzhong Detention Center. In April of 2002, Mr. Yang Zhi was sentenced to 6 years in Laolai Prison. Ms. Zhang Liping was sentenced to 5 years in Haerbin Women's Prison where they forced her to work 18 to 20 hours every day and didn't give her enough food to eat.

Mr. Li Wei, 37 years old, was abducted by police from the Chaoyang Police Division of Changchun City Police Department on March 14, 2002. He was sent to Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp and detained for 2 years. His term expired on March 14, 2004, but he is still being detained. His family members asked the "610 Office" (2) to release Mr. Li, but were told that Mr. Li would not be released unless they pay 5,000 Yuan. Mr. Li has been tortured frequently during the last two years. His face was beaten so badly that it became black, swollen, and disfigured. In the first half of 2003 Mr. Li had become dangerously underweight due to the long-term torture. His health condition is so bad that he cannot eat anything.

The first brigade of Kaiping Forced Labor Camp in Tangshan City is intensifying its persecution of the detained Falun Gong practitioners. Twenty days before the start of the World Human Rights conference at the United Nations, they stopped permitting the practitioners to visit with their family members. Recently, a Shock Brigade was sent in by the central government in order to intensify the persecution. They don't allow the practitioners to sleep for several days and nights. A few of the practitioners are on the brink of death due to the long-term hunger strikes, but the policemen still keep on persecuting them intensively. For example Zheng Huiwang from Langfang City of Hebei Province has been force-fed for three months and was put into solitary confinement many times.
