(Clearwisdom.net) Due to the rescue efforts of Falun Gong practitioners and kind-hearted people all over the world, at midnight on March 15, Dafa practitioner Ms. Tang Yiwen was released from the Chatou Brainwashing Center in Baiyun District of Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province.

On February 23, Tang Yiwen, who had already been illegally detained for over two years, was again abducted by Haizhu Police Department after she applied for a passport with the intention of visiting her sister in Australia. Hearing this news, Australian practitioners, together with Tang Yiwen's sister, Australian citizen Lisa Liang, held a press conference in front of the Chinese Consulate in Sydney, and had a Sydney-to-Canberra car tour to appeal to the Australian government as well as the international community. Several mainstream media in Australia made positive reports about these events.

Tang Yiwen's abduction again attracted the attention of people with a sense of justice from many places. Since February 24, telephone calls from all over the world were made to Chatou Brainwashing Center where Tang Yiwen was detained, all levels of police departments in Guangzhou City and Guangdong Province, as well as the "610 Offices." In particular, when Tang Yiwen was on her 17th day of hunger strike and her life was in danger, more telephone calls were made to Guangzhou. Bending under the pressure from the international community, the Guangzhou "610 Office" wanted to avoid taking responsibility and notified Tang Yiwen's family to pick her up. However, though they claimed they would release her, they sent four or five people to follow and watch her. Being aware of this, Tang Yiwen protested with her last breath: she would not leave the brainwashing center as long as she was being watched and monitored. The "610 Office" finally gave up and promised not to send people to monitor her.

All of Tang Yiwen's family members in Guangzhou, in addition to her husband who does not practice Falun Gong, have been interrogated and threatened by the "610 Office." This time, Tang Yiwen staged a hunger strike from the first day she was detained in the brainwashing center. She was isolated and locked up in a small room without windows. She could not see other practitioners or any sunlight. At midnight, she could often hear the screaming of other prisoners who were being hung up and beaten, which sometimes lasted for a long time.

At this moment, Tang Yiwen is in Guangzhou resting and recuperating.

We call on the police departments in Guangzhou to stop the persecution of Falun Gong immediately, respect the Constitution of China, and issue a passport to Tang Yiwen.

Other practitioners detained together with Tang Yiwen, include Li Qiong, Xie Miao and Shi Bing are still detained in the Chatou Brainwashing Center. We hope that everyone will pay attention to this and demand their unconditional, prompt release.
