1. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Falun Dafa Practitioner Ms. Wu Meijuan Suffers Mental Collapse From Persecution

Just after 7:00 p.m. on January 20, Ms. Wu Meijuan was taken to the Huanghe Road Police Station by policemen while she was distributing Falun Gong truth clarifying materials. Ms. Wu resisted the demands of the police and was brutally beaten by the officers. She was exposed to 24 hours of tremendous mental and physical abuse, and afterwards was not even able to recognize her own son. Her home was ransacked twice, and in spite of her mental condition, she was unlawfully taken to the Yaojia Detention Center for further abuse.

2. [Qidong County, Hunan Province] "610 Office" and Police Station Persecute Innocent People

Zou Aiming was the former head of the Buyunqiao Town Police Station in Qidong County, Hunan Province. On August 12, 1999, using the pretense of trying to establish a registry of local Falun Gong practitioners he asked over thirty local Falun Gong practitioners to the police station. Zou Aiming and those in charge of the "610 Office," including Zeng Xiangsheng, Luo Dingguang, and Deng Yungen secretly called in journalists to take video footage from distance. [The "610 Office" is an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems.] Subsequently, the Falun Gong practitioners were falsely charged with "besieging the police station" and unlawfully sentenced to eighteen months of forced labor. After suffering eighteen months of continuous torture, any practitioner who refused to write the "three statements" [renouncing Falun Gong] was held in custody for two extra months.

On November 29, 2002, I was arrested by officers from an out-of-town police station and taken to a detention center, where inmates tortured me inhumanely. The police refused to let me go until they had extorted 4,500 yuan, which has completely depleted me financially. [500 yuan is the average monthly income of an urban worker.]

3. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Members of "610 Office" Take Falun Dafa Practitioners to Brainwashing Center

Members of the Harbin "610 Office" started a new round of persecution against Falun Dafa practitioners just before the Chinese Lunar New Year's Day. Yu Qin and Wang Youbin, of the Harbin Bearing Factory, and Zhao Ming, of the Heat Processing Factory, were taken to the Wuchang Brainwashing Center. Members of the factories' security divisions, local police stations, and the "610 Office" carried out the abduction. During the same period, local police stations and leaders of factories in the area also went to Falun Dafa practitioners' homes to harass them.

4. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Falun Dafa Practitioner Mr. Wang Hengfu Arrested by Police

Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Wang Hengfu was unlawfully arrested while explaining the facts about the persecution of Falun Gong at his brother's home. Mr. Wang's niece called the police.

5. [Tieling City, Liaoning Province] Tuchang County Police Arrest Falun Dafa Practitioners

Officers from the Changfa Township Police Station in Changtu County, Tieling City, Liaoning Province broke into a resident's home at night and unlawfully arrested two Falun Dafa practitioners. Around 7:00 p.m. on January 9, 2004, Zhang Zhongren, head of the police station, leading policemen Huang Guangming, and Li Wen, as well as the director of the Weizi Village Security Office Liu Yaocheng, broke into Li Guochun's home. They arrested Li's wife Liu Xiukun and another Falun Dafa practitioner Zhang Guihong who was also in Li's home. On January 22, the two practitioners were transferred to the Changtu County Detention Center by Zhang Zhongren.

6. [Tai'an City, Shandong Province] Cases of Abused Falun Dafa Practitioners

Ms. Dong Aijun lives in a village near a military base in Fangzun Town, Daiyue District, Tai'an City. In mid-September 2003, Li Yong, deputy head of the town's police station and other policemen arrested her while she was distributing Falun Gong truth clarifying materials. She was first held in the Xintai City Detention Center. Later, the Daiyue Branch of the Police Department transferred her to the Shandong Province No. 1 Women's Forced Labor Camp to serve a two-year term.

Mr. Zhou Qinggui lives in a village within the jurisdiction of the Taiqian Administrative Office in Taishan District, Tai'an City. In mid-September 2003, he was unlawfully picked up by the town's police officers while he was distributing Falun Gong truth clarifying materials in Shankou Town, Daiyue District. Mr. Zhou was initially held in the Tai'an City Detention Center. Later the Taishan District Branch Police Department transferred him to the Shandong Province Wangcun Forced Labor Camp to serve a two-year term.

Ms. Yang Chengmei is a school doctor at the Tai'an City No. 2 Middle School. In October 2000, the Taishan District Branch Police Department sent her to the Shandong Province No.1 Women's Forced Labor Camp for two years of forced labor. She was released in the second half of 2001. Around 11:00 a.m. on November 26, 2003, officers from the Taishan District Branch Police Department and the school security staff took Ms. Yang to the Shandong Province No.1 Women's Forced Labor Camp for another 3-year term. She has been held in a small cell in isolation, brutally force-fed, deprived of sleep, and severely beaten.

7. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] Falun Dafa Practitioner Ms. Zhang Wei of Jinan General Steel Factory Arrested

Ms. Zhang Wei is a Falun Dafa practitioner in the Jinan General Steel Factory. She had previously been unlawfully sent to the Wangcun Forced Labor Camp for three years by the factory's security staff. In the morning of January 27, 2004, she went to visit friends in the downtown area. Around 10 am, officers who had been following her, forced her into a police vehicle near the Provincial Sports Center. Her whereabouts presently unknown.

8. [Handan City, Hebei Province] Criminal Acts Committed by Officers in the Hanshan District Police Department

On October 14, 2004, Ms. Li Tong'e, 55, was taken to cell No. 30 in the No. 1 Handan Detention Center. She had difficulty walking, and carried scars left by handcuffs that had cut deeply into her wrists. Witnesses noticed burned skin on her legs when she took a shower. The police had burned her skin with two electric batons. One officer, nicknamed "Liuzi" is particularly violent. Everyone inside the cell was able to witness the police brutality. When Ms. Li went through a physical examination on the following day, even the prison guards were outraged by such inhumane acts.

9. [Fangzheng County, Heilongjiang Province] Li Chang'an Faces Unlawful Sentencing

In December 2003, Falun Dafa practitioner Li Chang'an was unlawfully arrested at home by the Fangzheng County Police Department in Heilongjiang Province. Li is currently in unlawful custody in Fangzheng County, and is handcuffed and shackled at all times. Li also faces an unlawful trial.

10. [Guiyang City, Guizhou Province] Individuals and Organizations Involved in the Persecution of Falun Dafa Practitioners in Southern Huitong Company Ltd.

The Dulaying Police Station in Baiyun District, Guiyang City, Guizhou Province participated in the persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners in the vehicle factory "Southern Huitong Company Ltd." in Dula Township. In 1999, someone at the police station ordered the transfer of the residential records of Falun Gong practitioner Deng Lizan [Note: Workers in China require national residency papers in order to work and live in any location within China. Having one's residence transferred means that the person is rendered an illegal resident and therefore cannot legally work without proper ID. This is another form of persecution against Falun Dafa practitioners], and Deng was forced to resign from the vehicle factory. Officers also forced Falun Dafa practitioners Ban Yingmou and "Little Eighth Sister", both residents of the township, into the Lannigou Brainwashing Center in Guiyang City. Falun Dafa practitioners in the township were harassed and threatened, in order to force them to give up practicing Falun Dafa.

11. [Dianbai County, Guangdong Province] Exposing the Transgressions of the "610 Office"

Since July 20, 1999, the Dianbai County "610 Office" run by Ruan Zhong, has served as a dedicated criminal agency to defame and persecute Falun Dafa. In the past four years, its staff committed countless immoral deeds.

In December 2002, Ruan ordered the "610 Office" to place almost 200 Falun Dafa practitioners across the county under arrest. They ransacked practitioners' homes, extorted cash, and cursed practitioners. Ruan has conspired with Chen Dong and other heads of police stations and unlawfully held Falun Dafa practitioners in custody for extended periods of time. They also forced the practitioners to work 18 to 22 hours a day while beating and cursing them freely. Some Falun Dafa practitioners have been sentenced to 1 to 3 years of forced labor without going through any legal procedure. Over 100 practitioners have been held in custody for over a year.

In addition, this "610 Office" also organized gatherings and rallies in schools and other organizations across the county defaming Falun Gong.

12. [Beijing] Political Thugs at the Knowledge Publishing House Poison the Minds of Middle School Students

In July 2002, the Knowledge Publishing House published a middle school textbook called "Anti-Evil Cult Primer". This book was compiled under the "Notice to Comprehensively Promote Campus Activities to Reject Evil Cults" issued by the Education Ministry and the Central Committee of the [Party] Youth League. The entire book is filled with contents viciously attacking Falun Dafa. It has been used as part of the curriculum of elementary and middle schools in the countryside.

Schools are places where talents are cultivated, and our young people are the future of the nation. The schools are now filling these young minds with outright lies. Influenced by such propaganda, it is unclear how much injury is being done to our children and what future China will embrace. Anybody with a conscience should be outraged by this state of affairs.

13. [Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province] Five Falun Dafa Practitioners, Including Sun Guiqin, Arrested at Erqiyingzi in Longcheng District

Ms. Sun Guiqin, 65, Ms. Yu Huijuan, about 36, Ms. Wang Jing, 23, Ms. Nie Wenhua, about 44, and Ms. Yang Shuqin, about 57, are Falun Dafa practitioners in Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province. On the evening of February 9, 2004, the five practitioners were arrested while placing truth-clarifying stickers in the Erqiyingzi area in Longcheng District. Police officers from the Lingbei Police Station who were on a stakeout took the practitioners to the State Security Brigade in the Longcheng Branch Police Department.

We have learned that Guan Liquan, deputy chief of the Longcheng Branch Police Department, was in charge of the arrests that night. These five practitioners are being currently held in the Shijiahetao Detention Center. Three other practitioners who recently were unlawfully arrested are also being held there. They are Ms. Jiang Weizhen, Ms. Wang Shuling, and Ms. Wang Fenghua, all of whom are on hunger strikes.

14. [Beijing] Falun Dafa Practitioner Guo Dongxiang Missing for Nine Months

Guo Dongxiang, a Falun Dafa practitioner in Chaoyang District, Beijing, has been clarifying the facts about the persecution against Falun Gong by sending letters and printing brochures. On March 20, 2003, the police ransacked Guo's home, confiscated a personal computer, and took away all the Falun Gong books. It has been nine months and Guo's whereabouts remain unknown.
