Facts of the Persecution

Practitioner Ms. Zhu Xianzhi from Zhengzhou City in Henan Province was kidnapped, detained, confined, and brainwashed many times for believing in Falun Dafa. On September 3, 2001, she was transferred to Shibalihe Women's Forced Labor Camp of Zhengzhou City and was illegally sentenced to a year and half of "reeducation through forced labor". In the forced labor camp, Zhu suffered inhuman torture. She was often beaten so hard that she almost lost her eyesight. She also was force-fed many times. On March 6, 2003, Zhu Xianzhi was taken to the brainwashing center. In order to protest against the persecution, she went on a hunger strike. Four days later, she found a chance to leave. She can't return home or she will face more persecution.

Nansha Police in Dalian City, Liaoning Province worked hard to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. In June 2003, Ms. Chen Minghui was persecuted by them for giving people Falun Gong truth-clarifying materials. Even though she didn't return home, policeman Mao Pu still arranged people to watch her house and to disturb the family.

Mr. Zhu Changbing was abducted by the policemen of Nansha Police Station, while he was making the truth-clarifying materials of Falun Gong. He was sentenced to twelve years in jail and is held at the Shenyang City Second Jail.

In October 2001, Ms. Qu Shumei was kidnapped by the police of Nansha Police Station because of pasting truth materials of Falun Gong up in public and was sentenced to two and half years of "reeducation through forced labor."

Ms. Guang Lan is still being held at the Dalian City Force Labor Camp because she went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong.

Many Falun Gong practitioners have been continously disturbed by the policemen of Nansha Police Station who went to practitioners homes and kidnapped the practitioners and took them to the Detention Center, Drug Rehabilitation Center, or Forced Labor Camp. The police also confiscated their property and forced security personnel working in their jurisdiction to sign their names on documents slandering Falun Dafa, otherwise they were not allowed to work there.

In March 2000, Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Hao Yunxiang from Jinzhou City in Liaoning Province and other practitioners went to Beijing to appeal to the high authority for Falun Gong. By doing so, she was illegally detained for over twenty days and then was taken to a brainwashing center. In March 2001, when she and other practitioners were giving the truth-clarifying materials of Falun Gong to the people, she was caught by Baigu Police. They grasped her hair and pulled her up without her feet touching the ground then beat her head against a wall. She bore great pain and said nothing to the police. The police could do nothing but took her to the Second Detention Center of the City. On June 12, 2003, while Hao Yunxiang was hanging Falun Dafa banners in Kangjiayuan area, she was arrested and taken to the Police Station. Later she was illegally sentenced to five years in jail by the Court of Linghe District.

On September 16, 2003, Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Sun Fengqin was abducted by the policemen of Chuanying District "610 Office" [an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems.] and the National Security Team in Jilin City while she was making Falun Gong truth-clarifying materials. She has been unlawfully held for over four months. Recently, the Court of Chuanying District wanted to try her secretly. In order to protest against the decision, Shun Fengqin went on a hunger strike and was sent to the hospital to force-feed.

Chaozhou County Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Liu Yawen from Daqing City in Heilongjiang Province had gone to Beijing twice to appeal for Falun Gong, however she was repeatedly kidnapped, illegally held and brainwashed. Then she was taken to the Harbin Drug Rehabilitation Center to force "reeducation through labor." On April 20, 2003, the policemen suddenly broke in and searched her house without any legal procedure and she was detained for 15 days on the charge of "disturbing the social order".

The policeman Gao Peng and his group from the Public Security Bureau of Changchun City in Jilin Province have abducted over one hundred Falun Dafa practitioners in recent years. They tied practitioners on the Tiger Bench* and shocked the practitioners' sensitive and private parts with electric batons. Often the practitioners' feet were tied on the Tiger Bench with thin iron bands, two hands were handcuffed by heavily iron chains behind their backs and the iron chains were stretched toward down then tighten with iron bar under the Tiger Bench. The iron bands were tightened so deep that they went into the practitioners' feet. Their arms were so over stretched that the tendons and muscular tissues were seriously injured. When the practitioners were tortured by these methods on the Tiger Bench, they suffered tremendous pain. The practitioners were also tortured by other methods such as: being beaten with sticks, being whipped with leather belts, being slapped in the face, being forced to drink liquor, being continuously suspended up in the air with their arms behind their backs until the practitioners couldn't breathe, and having lit cigarettes inserted into their noses.

*Tiger Bench Practitioners are forced to sit on a small iron bench that is approximately 20 cm (6 inches) tall with their knees tied together. With their hands tied behind their backs or sometimes placed on their knees, they are forced to sit straight up and look straight ahead. They are not allowed to turn their heads, close their eyes, talk to anyone or move at all. Several inmates are assigned to watch over the practitioners and force them  to remain motionless while sitting on the bench. Usually some hard objects are inserted underneath the practitioners' lower legs or ankles to make it harder for them to tolerate this abuse.
