1. [Weihai City, Shandong Province] Long Prison Sentences for Dafa Practitioners Who Tapped into a Cable TV Network to Broadcast the Truth of Falun Gong

On June 20, 2003 Weihai City's Intermediate Court sentenced Dafa practitioners Huang Min, Zhang Lejin, Jiang Luguang, Lu Guiling, and others to long prison terms because they clarified the facts of the Falun Gong persecution by tapping into a cable TV network. Practitioner Huang Min was a lecturer from Jiamusi University; Zhang Lejin was a worker from the Mechanics Factory of the Railway and Transportation Section, Shuangyashan City's Mineral Bureau. Farmer Jiang Luguang was sentenced to 12 years of imprisonment, and farmer Lu Guiling was sentenced to 19 years of imprisonment.

2. [Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province] Liu Yaokun's Life is in Grave Danger After Being Tortured at Jiamusi City's Forced Labor Camp

Ms. Liu Yaokun, 43, is a Dafa practitioner from Hegang City. She is being held at Jiamusi City's Forced Labor Camp, and suffered severe mental and physical torment. She has been in a coma for over ten days.

Police have cruelly force-fed Liu Yaokun since January 22. While torturing her, policewoman Mu Zhenjuan claimed, "Don't dream of getting out of here! If you want to get out of here by this means, you will be disabled when you get out." Liu Yaokun is receiving emergency treatment in a hospital. Her life is in grave danger.

Practitioner Yin Ling is another example. She was a practitioner from Baoqing County, Heilongjiang Province who was tortured to death in Jiamusi City's Forced Labor Camp.

3. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Shenyang City's No. 2 Prison Holds a Psychopath and Frames Falun Gong

One year after psychopath Dong Li killed his wife, in order to blame and set up Falun Gong, police held him under the name of a Falun Gong practitioner in Shenyang City's No. 2 Prison. Because Dong Li babbles all night and makes others unable to sleep, he was thus beaten many times. He can't control himself, and often sings during the daytime. People know he is a psychopath. One time when a Dafa practitioner clarified the truth about Falun Gong to an inmate, when mentioning psychopath Dong Li, the inmate said, "We'd better keep this to ourselves. Don't let the guards hear this." In fact, all policemen in the No. 2 Prison know Dong Li is a psychopath.

4. [Luohe City, Henan Province] Dafa Practitioner Ms. Sun Qiuju is Staging a Protest Hunger Strike

Practitioner Ms. Sun Qiuju from Luohe City is in her 40s. She has been put into a detention center for over two months. Nine days ago she started a hunger strike to protest the illegal persecution. It is unknown whether or not she is still alive.

Yang Guozeng, party secretary for the Luohe City Political & Judiciary Committee persecutes Dafa practitioners enthusiastically. He once claimed in a brainwashing class that practitioners who do not write the "Guarantee Statement"* would never get out. Many practitioners clarified the truth to him, but he didn't listen. When he was told Jiang Zemin was sued, he said, "I don't care about this." He continues to go his own way. He is responsible for all practitioners there having been sentenced to forced labor or imprisonment.

* "Guarantee Statement" is a statement to declare that one is remorseful for practicing Falun Gong and guarantees not to practice Falun Gong again, not to go to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong, and never again associate with any Falun Dafa practitioners.

5. [Beijing] Dafa Practitioner Ms. Wang Yanling from Chaoyang District is Held at an Adoption Institute

Dafa practitioner Wang Yanling recently returned to China from studying in Japan. She lived in the Wangjing residential area with her one-year-old child. About one month ago, police suddenly broke into her home to arrest her and ransack her place. Her situation is presently unknown.

On January 7, 2004 personnel from Xinchengzi District's Police Precinct arrested Dafa practitioner Xuan Xuezhu at home in the Xinchengzi District.

7. [Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province] Deprived of the Right to Go on a Family Visit to Australia (continued)

After a week, the Guangzhou City Police Department still has not issued passports for practitioners Ms. Tang Yiwen and Ms. Yan Haiyu.

One day Tang's sister dialed directly to the appeal line of Guangdong Provincial Police Department. A male official answered the phone. Tang's sister politely talked to him, "How are you? Happy New Year! Do you have a few minutes? My name is Lisa. My sister Tang Yiwen applied for a passport from the city police department but the police did not issue the passport and did not tell my sister the reason. Afterward, my sister went to the office to ask for the reason but she was told that the Provincial Police Department issued an order that Falun Gong practitioners were not allowed to go abroad. I would like to know whether the Provincial Police Department has this order? If so, who issued it? Do you have the document? Who signed the document?"

On hearing the question was related to Falun Gong, the policeman was very nervous, "Well, we could not handle your request, neither were we clear on this matter..."

"You are an official in the Appeals Office. If you cannot handle this, who else could? The city police department claimed the order was from the Provincial Department. If you did not know, would you please let me know the telephone numbers and contact names of those who know the information?"

The policeman was becoming even more nervous, and he could not answer. Eventually he did not say a word and hung up the phone.

The following day, Tang's sister was interviewed by the "Sound of Hope" International Radio Station to expose the vicious persecution of her sister and many other Mainland practitioners.

Right now, the voice of bringing Jiang to justice is rising higher and higher overseas, as is a lawsuit within Mainland China to bring Jiang to justice. Numerous practitioners and their relatives have filed complaints with the Court and Inspection Institute to charge the labor camps with illegally detaining and torturing practitioners and are suing the camps for extorting money from practitioners. Many practitioners and relatives resort to consulting with lawyers, and some have gotten support from some lawyers who are willing to defend practitioners.

Not long ago, a northern practitioner won a wrongful dismissal from work and a capriciously withheld salary lawsuit because of his practice of Falun Gong. His work unit had to reinstate his work position and compensate him for his lost salary.

The lawsuit in China is pointing to the chief criminal, Jiang. Tang's sister said during the interview, "Dear audience, no matter what you can and cannot do, please, give your support to this lawsuit with your righteous mind. Please don't miss such a golden opportunity to support justice."

The "Sound of Hope" International Broadcast Station also interviewed Yan Haiyu's young brother, Mr. Yan Zhihui, the same afternoon. He also wanted to make sure justice was served in his sister's case.

8. [Shangcai County, Henan Province] Arrest of Practitioner Zhao Peiyuan and Others

In the middle of December 2003, the police had tailed and arrested practitioners Zhao Peiyuan and Qi Lan when they were distributing Dafa truth-clarifying information in Yangji Township, Shangcai County, Henan Province. After a while, practitioners Ms. Qi Hua and Wang Fuyun from Hedian Township, who was just released from Zhengzhou City's Shibalihe Female Labor Camp, were arrested too. A couple of months ago, someone reported practitioner Zhang Xizhong to police when Zhang was distributing Dafa truth-clarifying information. He suffered much torture. All the detained practitioners are being held at the county's detention center. According to internal sources from the county's police department, all these practitioners have been secretly sentenced.

Since practitioner Zhao Peiyuan was arrested, he has been on a hunger strike and he is in critical condition.

9. [Panjin City, Liaoning Province] Illegal Forced Labor Sentence of Dafa Practitioners Wang Jianquan and Ma Fuyue

On the evening of January 15, 2004 Cao Shusheng, Yangquanzi police precinct chief, Li Kejun, political instructor, and policeman Zhao Rongguo arrested Dafa practitioners Wang Jianquan and Ma Fuyue from the Yangquanzi Reed Pasture of Panjin City, Liaoning Province. The two practitioners were detained at the Panshan Detention Center. On January 19 they were sentenced to two years of forced labor, and are now detained at Panjin City's Forced Labor Camp. On visiting days policemen don't permit family members to see the practitioners, claiming that the practitioners are under "strict administration." Because the camp withholds all information, the detailed circumstances are unknown.

10. [Panshan County, Liaoning Province] Detention of Dafa Practitioner Yan Changjun

Dafa practitioner Yan Changjun from Huanxi Mountain, Dongguo Reed Pasture in Panshan County, Liaoning Province, has been transferred to Panshan County's Detention Center.

11. [Linjiang City, Jilin Province] Destruction of a Dafa Information Production Site

Someone revealed information regarding the Dafa materials production site in Linjiang City. It was subsequently destroyed. One practitioner was arrested and one was forced to leave home to avoid illegal arrest. The details are unknown. Fellow practitioners say that now they have no truth-clarifying materials to hand out.

12. [Sanmenxia City, Henan Province] Second Arrest of Dafa Practitioner Liu Jianxia

On the evening of January 13, 2004 over 30 lawless policemen from Sanmenxia City's Police Department, from the "610 Office,"* and Shan County's Police Department broke into the house of Ms. Liu Jianxiao, from Sanmenxia City, Henan Province, and forcibly took her from home into Sanmenxia City's Detention Center. They claimed the reason for the arrest was an order from a superior. They said they know Dafa practitioners are good people, but they had to arrest her. When Liu was illegally detained, she went on a hunger strike without eating or drinking for over twenty days. In order to shirk their responsibility, officials from the detention center ordered her family to fetch her when she became very ill from the hunger strike. It was heard that Ms. Liu would be sentenced to imprisonment.

* 610 Office" is an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems.

13. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Detention of Dafa Practitioner Mr. Wang Shilian at the Zhangshi Forced Labor Camp

Dafa practitioner Wang Shilian is from Ren'er Village, Bayi Town, Shujiatun Area, Shenyang City. In December 2002 he went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. Afterward he was detained at Shenyang City's Zhangshi Forced Labor Camp for three years. During his detention, Zou Xueying, Bayi Town's Political and Judiciary Committee associate secretary assured his family, "If you hand over 10,000 Yuan* he can be released unconditionally." However, two years have passed since his family paid the money, but Mr.Wang Shilian is still detained at Shenyang City's Zhangshi Forced Labor Camp.

14. [Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] Arrest and Extortion of Dafa Practitioner Li Hua

Dafa practitioner Li Hua is a retired employee of the Yinlang National Foodstuff Storage Warehouse, which belongs to Ranghulu District's Foodstuff Substation in Daqing City. Because he went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong in June 2000, policemen Li Changqing and Liu Qiang from the Jianhua Police Precinct in the Ranghulu District Police Department sent him to Longfeng District's Detention Center in Daqing City for fifteen days. Li Hua's work unit fined him 10,000 Yuan, which the Security Defense Section kept. Li Hua has the receipt.
