Previous report: Police Violence on Tiananmen Square on China's "National Day" (Photos)

The following photo is from Tiananmen Square on October 1, 2004, where a Falun Gong practitioner was beaten to the ground and a policeman is seen walking towards a police vehicle with a banner that he snatched from the practitioner. Many people witnessed the brutality occurring on China's most renowned square on China's National Day. A practitioner was beaten to the ground by police, while other armed police drove onlookers far away from the site. Many people in the crowd started to take photos, and several of them had their film confiscated by police. Police even confiscated some people's unused cameras packed in their bags, and a few tourists who photographed the scene were taken away. Policemen near the site also searched for people who had cameras.

Many people at Tiananmen Square were talking about the incident. They said: "We personally saw the brutality of police against Falun Gong today."

Thankfully, the person who took this photo took the risk to get it. Many people worldwide will say, "Today, I finally saw the truth."

From this photo, we can get an idea of the Jiang faction's state terrorism, as the police brutally beat an innocent citizen to the ground in front of many people in broad daylight. The current situation of the practitioner is not known. October 1, China's National Day, is supposed to be a day celebrated throughout the country, after the Mid-Autumn Festival (September 28). People are supposed to be happy with family reunions on this long holiday. However, on this holiday, how many Falun Gong practitioners' families are crying for their family members who were tortured to death, suffering in labor camps and prisons, or forced to stay away from home to avoid persecution? During the persecution, those in power should not create a staged holiday atmosphere and decorate their cruel rule to fool the people. People have the right to know the truth that innocent people are being persecuted. Unjustness to one person is unjustness to all people.

From the photo, we can also see the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance that practitioners follow. The banner snatched by the police had these words, which really reflect the practitioner's heart. Practitioners explain the facts to people with great effort. People in China do not need a holiday atmosphere staged by those in power--they need the truth. Practitioners clarify the truth, which is fundamentally safeguarding the people's future and long lasting happiness. They do truth clarification out of their compassion and hope people know the facts and benefit from Truth, Compassion and Tolerance. Facing violence, they never fight back but endure without hate.

The persecution has lasted more than five years. Practitioners will continue their efforts to spread Dafa. I hope that the onlookers do not blame the practitioner for damaging the staged holiday atmosphere. I hope that they understand the practitioner's actions, and that some of them will step forward to condemn and help stop the persecution.
